Hello! Just about to announce this in a livestream thread... but we're doing a pre-PS4 launch livestream next week (on Thursday) where we'll be basically answering any leftover questions. There will be a forum post that runs down all that information too. We've got a couple of things to wrap up in terms of exactly how it will roll out, so we're waiting for that... you should have everything you need to know on Thursday at 7PM BST!
We'll be showing off the game, and all the features on the stream too. Lloyd Morgan-Moore will be joining me on the stream, he's the producer who has been responsible for moving the game over to the PS4 (and he's lovely and has a nice face).
See you on Thursday
Thanks Ed. Much appreciated.
Even though i agree that any more informations are appreciated, i'm having a very hard time understanding, why Fdev is not even trying marketing the release of Elite Dangerous to the PS4/pro.
I cannot remember any other release of a major IP to any console in recent times that had as less buzz around it as this.
Given the fact, that releasing it to the, at least for now, most powerful console at this time, and the system with the overall largest market share, one would expect much much more interaction with the Media and community.
(not trying to start a console war - i own both systems, Elite runs fine on the Xbox, enjoying it there since GPP)
It is almost like they don't want any "unwanted" publicity before the actual release.
Giving out the "final" informations 5 (five) days, before launch, where the game is on preorder for weeks/months already does not sum up, if you really want to be successful and get your fair amount of market share as a game developer and self-publisher, imho.
I can only imagine a few scenarios where you would act secretively like this by just announcing it with a trailer and almost nothing else:
- it is inferior to the xbox version - which i cannot believe and do not really expect
- it is superior of the xbox version, especially on the Ps4Pro, and FDev does not want to alienate their relationship with Microsoft, even more so when they actively promote the XBoxOneX with 4K at E3 ...
- Fdev just forgot how to do marketing, and just don't care - which i also cannot believe, because then they could have spared the whole effort of bringing it to the PS4 at all.
Sorry, but i'm completely confused, and this all does not sum up well. It is kind of ridiculous seeing a highly capable Game Company, not using their potential in going to market to the fullest.
For now i did not preorder. As said before, i already own Xbox and PC Versions. I'm eager to see it on the PS4, but the lack of passion and information of Fdev themselves (just regarding to this release, not generally) is disturbing.
cheers,
