Q: What do metal ions and ED cheaters have in common?
A: SALTS
I love the smell of schadenfreude in the morning...
There IS no exploit to be found in accepting missions and completing them as instructed. This is true. It's also not what I'm talking about. The exploit is in not having to complete as instructed (and I don't mean the incidental way in which more than one mission can count per scan). So no, Quince is not an exploit. There is an exploit that vastly speeds up what can be made at quince though. Judging from this thread I'm guessing those who know it have kept it to themselves.
LOL love it. Perhaps even just multiply all modded parameters by "-1".What FD should have done was say nothing, just nurf the offenders stats so they look the same but the actual figures are minus the exploit gain, that way shields and weapons are worse than stock. Then make it so they only get better with legit engineer rolls.
It it would bring new meaning to "Get gud"
Quite the opposite. This sound like a lot more people will frequent open play and make it a great community. Don't get me wrong though, if you lot figure it was fun playing ED without the exploits, you're always welcome back
I don't mind getting interdicted to a fair fight. The prospect of getting interdicted by a bored exploiter, seriously annoyed me.
And for the serious PVP's they should go vanilla as any serious sportsman should compete on skills, not on rolling dice.
This thread has been very entertaining. I'm loving it.![]()
FD have taken appropriate action, but there are lots of wishful thinking posts wanting more. Pretty funny stuff, but FD have already done what they're going to do.
The rage quitters are already talking about returning. Shame, that. But at least one has uninstalled. So one cheating griefer gone. All in all, a good outcome.
Food fer thought. The punishment so far has been very lenient but one really needs to see the bigger picture here. Groups who practice the chest beating antic of ego rely on their persona and reputation to get their toxic message across and have a laugh at everyone elses expence. Fer some, thats the wole point of why they do and play the way they play.
So they get caught and lose a few modules...or a lotta modules in some cases...no big deal if they as good at all aspects of the game as they claimed to be.
Although I say "claimed" as past tense...as in as they were cheating to gain an unfair advantage, then claiming their superiority to be a result of lots of fair players who refused to "git gud" cos the game wasnt suited to mediocre players.
This is where we see the real long term side effects of what FD have done and what so few seem to realize...their reputations are in shreds. They are now, and fer some time to come, a standing joke in the community. And thats the part that will hurt them the most because as anyone who calls themself an elite player will know...its not a sprint to the finish line, its a long distance endurance event.
Those who invested years building up fearsome reputations just had those reputations literally nuke carpet bombed overnight. And lets face it...these guys aint short of enemies...karmas a female dog
Silver linings...up until this happened, I was one of FD harshest critics and had already wiped the game from my HD a month ago...last night, I was busy downloading it again with the view to playing again, and frontier made it to my shortlist of people I send xmas cards to...karma ^
+1. Yes, the damage to their reputation will be everlasting. That's a good thing. Every "kill" from those with the overactive egos will have an asterisk by them.
Welcome back to the game. I hope to see you in the black.
Change the colour of cheaters names to an iffy brown unless they recreate their CMDR.
Can I clarify what this means please? So assuming a DD5 blueprint on one ship (lets say a Fed Vette for arguments sake) was gained by cheating but a DD5 blueprint on another ship (lets call this one a Imp Cutter), then the Imp Cutter's DD5 mod will also be removed (along with the DD5 mod on the Fed Vette) even if it was a legitimately rolled DD5 module on the Cutter???

I'm not ing here - I'm just trying to understand the consequences that these people actually had enforced upon them. Personally, this level of cheating should be leaned on heavily and they got off very lightly IMHO.
Other Breaking News: All individuals found cheating have had their ship IDs passed along to the Thargoid's who are now under instruction to target these players first... Changes to the Ship IDs will also be duly reported to ensure that these individuals do not escape persecution from the Thargoid's... This way FDev can claim that they have not had a hand in the destruction of these players ships and that Thargoid activity is entirely out of their handsSmart Move FDev!

Why are everybody so salty when they've been stripped of mods?
Because all of them are away to have fun over at Lavecon those [redacted]. Wish we could be there ...
Why is it so hard for you to understand that you need to work hard for your mods?
Because it's impossible for them to to get back on the feet after a very wet Lavecon. Don't expect multicrew to bring them back. Someone carry Tj please.
Fluff all of it.
