Sorry if this has already been reported.

I noticed strange formations inside two craters nearby barnacles that are visited by thargoids. Take a look at the screenshot. I landed on one of them but is was a normal surface with rocks etc.

Any chance of a summary? I gave up after 5 minutes of hyperbole about how awesome the aliens are going to be (though at least from 05:00 they switch the microphone on....)

I'll try. Not exact quoting obviously. Also English is not my first language so I might mis-hear things. :)
Also their microphones went in and out a lot..

Ok, well you heard about Thargoids.. I'll add that too anyway... :

* Unknown artifacts, probes, barnacles, flower ships were all Thargoids.

*They're actually the Thargoids from the 1984 game.

*It's not necessarily all about combat with them, we will find out in 2.4 etc. There hasn't been any hostility until the wreckage of the capital ships..
So it was the Thargoids that disabled / killed those. (There have been theories...)

*2.4 isn't just going to be Thargoids.
It's the next step in a large story which we've planned from 2015. It's going to be ongoing, we can hope to see investigations, more developments coming through. Maybe there
will be some exploration trying to work out how Thargoids tick, find out how they work, vulnerabilities, how to take them out.

---
Then they show some "new toys" for players, without saying much about them:

* There will be Hull repair limpets.
(can use on own ship or repair other peoples ships)

* There will be Limpet synthesis.
(and some more synthesis recipes which they didn't say)

* New Filters for chat / inbox
(etc. quality of life improvements) Chain missions & linked updates now get a Thread that you can expand etc.

* Occupied escape pods will no longer be traded into the commodities market.
There will be a new Search & Rescue Agent contact who will deal with "all the salvage items".
"You can have Search & Rescue as a secondary carreer."

* Crime and punishment. You can no longer commit crimes and then switch to a Sidewinder and get killed to get away from fines/bounties "basically for free".
The most expensive ship used during your crime spree will be taken into account, and there will be an added rebuy penalty once you get killed.
The Pilots Federation will be involved. If you attack a human player and it's a crime, you will get a Pilot Federation bounty that is valid everywhere, apart from Anarchy systems.
(I guess you go Wanted across systems for PvP crimes?)

* If you can't afford the rebuy costs but have other ships that you don't use you can use those ships as collateral.

Today CMDR Synjorai of Canonn discovered Professor Melville's mega ship in Col 173 Sector LJ-F C12-0!

The mega ship's name is The Cete.

There's been found several ruins in the system as well - counting 5 at the time of posting. Seems like this might have been part of the original way to find the ruins.

Link to the sites found - thanks to CMDR Dave Weyland for the screens: http://imgur.com/a/JEmuI

Great find! +rep for everyone involved!

If that represents more or less the centre of the Guardian bubble then I make it 865 ly in radius.

Alternatively following Melville's hypothesis of the density of sites increasing towards the centre and treating the average of the co-ords for the 3 systems of 5 sites as the centre than I make it 744 ly radius.

The distance to Col 70 Sector FY-N C21-3 in the above treatments is 755ly and 683ly respectively, so it remains as potentially having been within the Guardian bubble.

Having just wasted an hour going through your post history on these threads, I can categorically say that you never speculated here that barnacles striped planets of resources or that they were connected to thargoids. So no one "poo poo'd" you on that, Canonn or otherwise. And everything you predicted has not come true. I found few posts that could even be call speculation let alone prediction, rather most of your posts have been whining about bugs, FDev, mods, or the way the mysteries have played out. The only real speculation I could find from you is below, so others can judge without having to waste so much time on it. As for trolling, that's what you just did by calling Canonn out for no reason, so congrats you trolled me.

I'm sure we've moved on a few pages by now, but I need to hail this marvellous act. What a legend you are Red.

Seems like at least the UA and possibly the UP are confirmed to be Thargoid. Start watching at 3 mins:

https://www.twitch.tv/videos/154072893

Well, I stand corrected then - fantastic :)

So, immediate response (and I didn't watch the whole thing yet):

Those people who said there were two or more Thargoid-related types of Alien out there are looking potentially spot on.

UAs using Morse, but being Thargoid, does suggest an attempt to communicate with us, or perhaps even an amalgamation of some human elements? Or they were designed to be enticing to us simply so we would pick them up and take them to stations where they might...

Oh crap.

Since they announced that these ARE the 1984 Thargoids returning...that means that we could be seeing both Thargoid and Oresrian ships out there right now. The Oresrians were a more peaceful subspecies of the Thargoids, and REALLY didn't like being referred to AS Thargoids, despite the similarities. So...maybe the ships that are doing lots of damage to big Fed cruisers are Thargoids, and the ships that are just popping by, scanning, and leaving are Oresrians?

Those we see now and battled with in Elite are the nice Thargoids. They only kill when it's needed.

The other bunch are much worse. They kill for pleasure. The only thing they fear are our old friends.

Many things can and will go wrong in how we handle this. :D

Oh crap.

Well 25 years ago some of them were working secretly with humans in and around Peregrina. They're easy to tell apart, fly up to a Thargoid ship, wait 30 seconds. If you die it was a Klaxian, if you're still alive then either it's an Oresrian or they haven't seen you yet.

Super stuff... but what was the fascination with the right hand panel? It seemed like every 10 seconds the view turned to it for no reason. I had to stop watching it was so irritating. Am I the only one that turns the auto pop up thing off when in any form of VR or head look?

EDIT: also, epic looking mega ship. Love the double hull.

I figured I'd just stream it in stead of edit a video - that right look thing is me looking at my laptop to the right were I write and read in the Canonn Discord :p

I only have the SRV/Fighter panel set not to pop up in VR - The status and contacts panels are always going on and off - I'm used to it. But thinking about it, it would make for annoying viewing for others!

I think they were trying to Carve out the Cookie monsters Eyes on that planets surface.

Better watch out if you have biscuits on board.

Just as an addition to this... Did anyone notice in the screenshot where they showed the Search and Rescue Agent, there was also a tab for Science and Research?

No? Just me? Thought you'd all be jumping on that in here.
