Unlocking THE DWELLER

Greetings!

Does anybody know, if there is a problem unlocking The Dweller?

I´ve been selling illegal goods(yes they were illegal at the different locations) to several black markets so far....nothing happening on the progress bar.

Don´t know what to do now...

Thank you

There is no Progress bar involved with the black markets ...

You need to sell to 5 black markets to get the invitation. Then you have to pay him half a million credits. Clean, simple, brutal capitalism.

15 black markets visited, illegal goods (slaves) all prohibited , even tried stolen cargo...5 hours wasted, still on 1/5 market networks, absolute garbage...This bug has been around on pc for over a year and a half, now slipped onto console and still nothing has been addressed.

Its bugged and extremely annoying.

I can't comment on the PS4 but I've unlocked the Dweller many times on PC over the last year.

Yep so have I, but its defiantly bugged on PS4, along with constant module storage crashes (6 today), Hyperspace crashes (3 today), random disconnects (4 today), unreadable ly numbers 234,110,435,276,143,289,178,757, Missions /passenger completion hand in system crashes (4 today), announcer greeting you on docking when your leaving the pad, the game is literally ridden with bugs and needs hot fixing quickly, quite frankly its a mess...

You can expect a few bugs and crashes with PC games because of the multi-format, but for a single system this is the most unstable Console game I've ever played, no doubt about it...

BTW I have been playing ED since PC closed beta and have never experienced anything like what's going on now...

Yeah same problem here can't unlock dweller even in statistic my visited blackmarkets are not updating.
Still at 1 blackmarket. I was at more than 12 for sure selling slaves.

Sorry if the text is hard to understand, I'm not really good in English.

Reads fine.

I did a few slum black market sells (grab a low fine mission, abandon, pay fine, sell goods on black market). Still 0/5 even after restarting.

100% Bugged. I've been selling to BM for days now and not a single register in the Engineers section. Id wait until an update or patch is released, which im sure is incoming to address a few issues. Plenty to do mind while we wait for a fix.

I noticed something strange with this today, I did two market trades with illegal cargo, only one of them has counted to the Dweller progress. No idea why.

question I had: is there a certain blackmarket group that counts with the dweller? Like you need to use the blackmarket in systems owned by different powers? I wouldn't think so, but I'm not sure at the moment.

If markets are not being counted on the PS4 it is almost certainly a bug. To the best of my knowledge, it's any black market, there's no other conditions. I've unlocked the dweller several time on the PC - my last invite was 30/6.

PS4 player here too.
For me it is not bugged.

Fastest way to unlock the Dweller:

1. Make sure you have cargo racks equipped on your ship, around 50 to 100 slots (as low as 4 is possible but slower to unlock)
2. Go to EDDB
3. Type in your reference system + facilities: Black Market
4. Select the station that has both a short arrival distance + short LY distance (to get their faster) + check if prices were updated recently (otherwise it could be that another faction took over and the black market is not open for business)
5. Once arrived at the station:

A: Accept all delivery missions that provide you with cargo items
B: Go to your transaction tab and abandon all missions that you just accepted
C: Now open Contacts > Black Market and sell all the cargo items since these will be listed in your cargo inventory as stolen
D: Pay the fines that you received for abandoning the missions (small fines, approx. 30 to 50K credits) (optional)
E: Check the engineer panel to see if you have progressed (shows as 1/5, 2/5, 3/5, 4,5, 5/5 depending on how many Black Markets you have successfully completed)

if progressed is No > accept a few more delivery missions and repeat steps A to E
if progressed is Yes > move to a new station with a black market and start with step 1

Took me less than 30min.

Good luck CMDR's

There is a bug for sure, but it is a weird one that I am unable to fully explain. I was impacted by it the first night that I tried to unlock The Dweller. My black markets wouldn't update, and therefore neither would the engineer tab requirements. I tried selling stolen items that I picked up in space, I tried abandoning missions and selling the cargo, and I tried buying ...er...human cargo and selling it where it was illicit. None of these ticked any markets up for me.

I logged in days later, still no updates, so I try it again with the abandon mission technique. Every single black market that I visited this time updated within 2 minutes, and it worked fine.

People still report this not updating, and I believe it. My only recommendation will be to try on different days for now until its sorted. I think there must be some decoupling with updating certain stats on the server that can happen, but who knows!

You aren't the only one though, and Im sorry! It was frustrating to me as well.

I unlocked him a while ago, he's definitely a bit buggy as I bought enough commodities to complete 5/5, yet only had 4/5 when I finished. I don't know what caused the lack of registration with one of them. If it isn't working at all I'd file a bug report.

Hmm, that rant sounds of of date, or did they not fix it on PS4 when they fixed it on PC??

General Fixes & Tweaks
  • Overworked Air Traffic Controllers will no longer greet pilots as they are leaving.

Anyway, back to the OP

The Dweller bug is not PS4 specific - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/362932-Dweller-unlock-bugged?highlight=dweller

I was going to suggest you raise a bug, but since FD have acknowledged the bug there seems little point:

Hey Urah, we are aware of this happening and it is under investigation. Thank you for reporting.

Annoying, but hey, welcome to Elite Dangerous ;)

Yes, I unlocked the Dweller in the last couple of days and noticed the game's reluctance to update. In the end and as noted above, I found I had to sell some illicit goods to a black market and then relog for the Engineer's requirements to unlock and become updated in the ui.

There was also a problem with the engineer's home base unlocking on the Starmap. Although I had the bookmark so I knew where to go, the actual base could not be found in the system map. Also flying down to the actual planet and the base did not appear. Not quite sure what I did to get it to appear but eventually the base showed up in the nav panel. Possibly just another relog to get it to show up.

Although this engineer does eventually unlock, I suspect like others above it is a bit buggy. I have found through google search a previous bug where the base would disappear completely, this was on PC platform. So clearly something is afoot with this engineer.

What system did you test this on? Im using ps4, just sold to 5 black markets and dweller didnt recognize any of them

I have the PS black market trophy, yet 0 black markets credited under the respective engineer tab on my right UI panel.
That seems to suggest something is amiss.
