Well, well. The last few pages of comments have been an eye opener...
...
And you dare to accuse the SC community of being toxic? Double standards abound right there.

I can assure you anyone here suggesting to a ED fan to "drink bleach" or "go jump off a cliff" would be banned on the spot. And at least to my knowledge this hasn't happened. It's been documented the other way around however. Similarly, people who voiced criticisms about things like the promised feature set or the date of delivery (which all turned out to be accurate by the way) have been heckled, insulted and even threatened and/or doxxed.

I agree that some posts here could be a bit less direct, and I include myself in the list of people who should perhaps be a bit more diplomatic at times.

Also you'll note that there's some pretty vocal criticism about Elite in this very forum. Criticizing the way CIG has been conducting the development of SC on the SC forums however is a surefire way to have the topic locked and infractions or bans being put on your user account.

Frankly, I'm tired of videos of the current baby-PU and people "having so much fun in it". It's great that you enjoy it, and if you do then more power to you. Just don't claim it's the best thing since sliced bread, or try to tout virtues that it objectively doesn't live up to. I really enjoy playing "Megaman 8 bit deathmatch" online, but I'll be damned if I run around claiming that it's the best first person shooter ever. Many of the snarky reactions are directly related to such bold claims, along with the incessant hype being thrown around still.

I though that Cal and I where very friendly yesterday, we got the forum active, but then got indirectly called vile. My memory of mole's comments was that it was anything but pretending it was better than sliced bread, in fact he/she was candid.

MOLE were you drunk??did you say ---it's the best first person shooter ever????
If you did you know you should have said ---it's probably going to be the best first person shooter ever, maybe.

I heavily criticise SC, CiG and the lack of community management on a daily basis on Spectrum, I'm usually upvoted for the comments with nary a suggestion to go drink bleach. I've also never read any of these comments outside of the clickbait media furore after one guy asked for a refund, usually quoted from reddit....that place is full of silly hateful little people in my experience and I avoid it like a plague as I've mentioned.

I've also said often enough, I've never in my opinion, stated any blatant falsehoods about SC, here or anywhere else. My having fun playing it...as is Bob's or Calrissian's is entirely subjective...being told I can't possibly have fun because I didn't supply relevant video evidence is not...some folks have 'fun' playing golf...I'd rather shove live wasps up my bum than hack at a tiny white ball all day with a stick then chase it around a posh looking field with flags on it...but I don't require empirical evidence that some hapless eejits actually enjoy the pointless process. This isn't a court of enquiry, it's a discussion forum where I assumed the whole point of adding commentary was to promote healthy discussion, not to provide material for a criminal dissection of possible or implied intent.

I'm perfectly aware...as I've said repeatedly...the PU is what it is, it's a buggy and laggy mess with very little to do in it for the 7 months it's been stagnated waiting on the magical patch 3.0 to give us all something new to try out....yet I'm still viewed as one step up from a base Cult of Roberts troll since I'm relatively new to this section of the forum...my forum ranking would at least suggest I've been around a bit and had some rep in the E-D sections, making the notion of me being some random and anonymous SC cultist trying to sway the bitter and twisted around with some barely fabricated lies pure nonsense...

I would suggest reading through my posts on here...if I've made some newbie error and reported blatant falsehoods surrounding SC, it's development, it's CEO or it's community, please point them out, I'd love to read them and offer an explanation if not an apology.

Linky for Spectrum posts

The first of Moles links is behind the SC paywall I think. So Frosty/Asp and anyone else who plays can see it and confirm his balance. I had a quick look

As spectrum is behind a paywall it does lead to a more-- civilised chat and less multiple accounts so the Mods have an easier job.

I do hope that SC is a success and we all can get together in the verse. I hope you all share that sentiment however frustrated you are. The only thing I can say is that after a mere 17 months in SC ( many have committed more time than me) I still think that the experience is worth it and worth supporting, my personal circs and game play plans mean that support is in being a good and thorough tester rather than financial. I love the process of Beta/Alpha testing. ED was equally rewarding during that stage.

If you have an android phone, back in the early 2000's I helped develop that system in an alpha version of what is now alpha testing. I spent hours on the weather app. I was the only one of my friends with a smart phone then (windows based) few saw the potential of smart phones in 2002, Look at the world now!

be nice guys

Frosty are these actual quotes from yesterday?

1."do you even play bro?"
2 "EVERYTHING WAS FINE - HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE ARE PLAYING WONDERFUL SMOOTH AAA GAMEPLAY TO MATCH ANY GAME OUT THERE NOW"

I did not read all of yesterdays 100 +posts so I may have missed them.
If so :
I understand number 1 as ASP is the only (lets call them 'unsure re SC') person who I knew played, until you said that you did which I did not know-- good for you- so the line "most" probably do not is probably a true picture.
Number 2 is incorrect its not" a smooth AAA gameplay to match any game out there" that is also nonsense whoever said that is incorrect its Alpha it would be amazing if it was.-- Who said that?

Sorry Calrissian my RAM did not retain your name fully.

Cal did you say any of those two things? If so please clarify your thoughts on the 2nd one

It's cool Bob and no I DID NOT say those things.

During my experience on Sunday, we had an 8 on 8 battle but the graphics were often jerky. That isn't silky smooth and I said that the game still needed to be tweaked and optimized. I imagine it would have been worse if more players were in ships. Our whole team was in one Vanguard Hoplite. Their team used up to 3 fighters and a bigger ship/fighter with a cargo hold.

We've got a massive implementation failure going on just now - so I'll be stuck here for a while I'm afraid. I'll hop on when I get home, PM sent.

Pah - such a mess over a single failed CF card :D

I wasn't aware that Spectrum was behind a paywall...I thought since registration for an SC user account is free and not reliant on any package purchase, Spectrum access was free too.

Key personnel are insurable. PEOPLE are a company asset. ANYTHING that is an asset is insurable. An employer can get insurance on key personnel if the loss or damage of that person or peoples would seriously impact the company.

Again, how does that relate to "I believe they are insured incase things go south" in reference to failure to deliver a the product(s)
That is what I am asking, what you meant by that previous statement.
What insurance is for failure to deliver product

Dude.....There's no insurance for failure to deliver a product. It's called a refund. This refund can be paid on the cash-out or cash value of key person insurance if the company has already spent the customers funds. If the company goes under, the key people will leave and the employer can possibly make good on their policy if these stipulations are expressed.

Got it!?

Before I waste a lot of time can you show me where I said they were quotes from yesterday?

If not I refer the good gentlemen to the previous five threads.

I did not say that you said they where quotes from yesterday I asked you if they were. Please check back one page or reread your own post which is two posts above to confirm.

You said those things implying they were direct quotes.

To be plain with you. Are they actual quotes from other people, things you made up yourself, exaggerations, dramatic prose, or to be candid untrue.

They are not literal quotes. They refer to statements made by 'pro SC people' (for lack of a better term) that we know are factually incorrect. You know, the 'we had a massive battle with 24 people in an instance, and our FPS was great and it was the best gameplay ever!" posts. They have been around since day one. If you'd dig to the posts you'd find some bizarre claims (one that stuck in my mind is that 'SC currently already offers more than most AAA games!').

Its annoying, because this kind of bull clearly hurts the discussion. It makes every other pro-SC claim sound dubious, and it causes people to want more than someone's worth. SC is in my experience unique, normally gamers accept each other's stories with a grain of salt of two. In this case, so much blatant lies have been spread that many of us have become extremely... skeptical. Which may be problematic when a new person shows up who may 'embellish' their experience, not for malicious reasons but out of sheer enthusiasm.

Frankly, its irritating me. On one hand I hate the constant lying, on the other hand I hate putting people down who are just having fun.

Well, for what it's worth I'm on now on USA server, Crusader in the open thingiewotsit. Maybe we can get some players together and see what really is possible, and find some willing volunteer with a godscale rig and bandwidth to stream it for everyone :D

Pure fantasy.

So you are saying that CIG can insure against Key Personnel Leaving in the event of a Failure of the business, and then use that money to pay refunds to the backers?
Surely the Key Personnel Insurance would only cover sudden and unforeseen loss of the key employee not them leaving due to the company failing, and it would be unlikely to be a sufficient sum insured to cover refund?

When you said "I believe they are insured incase things go south" who is They? CIG or the Backers?
