Yes, that is one of the uses it can be used for, so what.
Look up the definition which you have ignored which is:
The greater number.
So what? Because in a voting process that's exactly how it's used. Heavens above, I hope you never enter politics. You'll be only the dude jumping up and down thinking you won the majority and your motion passed because your party got 49% of the votes.
I didn't ignore it; I outright pushed it aside because you're using it in the incorrect context.
Which game mode do you more regularly choose?
12601 out of 12601 people answered this question
Open 49%
Solo 28%
Private Group 23%
49% is greater than 28%.
49% is greater than 23%.
But 49% is NOT greater than 51% ( which is what you get when you combined the two results ).
The majority is held by Solo and PG combined.
This is how it works dude.
Whilst the word itself means the greater number, the context in which the word is used means it's MORE THAN HALF .. which is, obviously, THE GREATER NUMBER.
I've watched enough politics to understand how majority rule works; and in any voting process, majority is always 50% + 1%.
I just quoted oxford back at you, with the correct usage and you still argue.
