DB Tweets 2.75M ED Units....

As far as I remember, LEP sales were very low (because FD was shy about it and it was limited and very expensive offer) so they really does not matter in such scale of things.

You are probably correct. But if Horizons really counts separately... I believe that almost everyone owns Horizons, that would mean actual sold copies are way lower than I thought.

I doubt that everyone that has bought the game has bought horizons as well. There will be a lot of people who don't play and therefore have not bought the horizons season as well. Too difficult to tell.

I think its a fair assumption
From about 15 people that bought ED on/pre-launch only one (not me but my Brother) owns Horizons
The rest Decided to wait a year and see how it goes. Needless to say they don`t play any more.

As far as I remember it was exactly the opposite - Horizons ownership till 2.2 was very, very low between base game owners. I remember something like 500k at best of estimate.

it would be interesting to show the breakdown. My first copy of the game was ED Horizons stand alone (which was reverted later on, so I suddenly had the base game and Horizons separately), and just bought the CMDR pack, which is essentially the same price as ED + Horizons right now, plus a bunch of paintpacks for free. So, I only had 2 "units", which could be 4 if bought separately.

My guess is that at least the later numbers would tend to be towards that special edition pack, because why would you buy each separately when the combined pack is essentially the same price, and comes with extra eye candy?

I doubt it's that. More likely the game just wasn't for them, which is fine. Not every game is for everyone.

2.75 million units sold [heart] Glad to hear it. It's got flaws aplenty, sure, but I still love the game. Recently checked out the Steam numbers just out of curiosity and even with fluctuations, it still has well over 3,000 average players for the past year, usually over 4,000 average. And that's just the Steam players.

Why? It's a niche genre and Frontier has never gone crazy with marketing. The biggest thing they've done is show a trailer of their before a Star Wars movie.

That's the sad truth with any game, not just this one.

I think they don't advertise the game very well. I'm a pretty heavy gamer, I play on X box One, PS4 and PC and I never new about this game until earlier this year. I just so happen to see and article talking about horizons. I probably would have picked it up a long time ago if I had heard about it earlier.
