Ah, good point, had forgotten about that.

So who do we think does manage the Unknown Permits?

Personally I took the bit about 'The Founders' to not be anything more than a dramatisation into game lore of what happened with the kickstarter. Could be wrong though! :D

If it's not a dramatisation of the kickstarter then could "the Founders" be the Guardians, or their descendants?

Hi all,

I was leafing through the flavour text in the shipyard today when I stumbled across an interesting tidbit in the description of the Diamondback Explorer. It mentions that the DBX was built as a smaller, cheaper version of the ASP that can also operate in hostile environments. Anybody who has come across a railgun ASP in a CZ will tell you that they're certainly capable of being pretty hostile, so what makes the DBX better suited to it? The DBX is the smallest ship, alongside the Vulture, that has a large hardpoint, and from what I've seen the PMC guys operating around the Pleiades seem to love using them equipped with Plasma Accelerators. The description even mentions that the DBX was designed "[in] response to criticism of the original Diamondback ship class": the DBS (described as a "specialist combat explorer vessel") features only medium and small hardpoints, so it looks like whoever was doing the criticizing really wanted those large PAs. Are they protecting themselves against intruding commanders, or is this a sign of what we'll need to fend off the Thargoids?

PS: sorry if this is the wrong thread for conspiracy discussions, I've not found another thread for this topic and this seems like the most relevant. Also sorry if this topic has been bought up before, this thread is a monster.

If goids dont like heat then beam lasers or PAs could be a good bet, but may need some special engineering; seem to remember a hint that turrets wont track goids so maybe fixed PAs in manoeuvrable ship....

Welcome to the neighborhood! It certainly is great for pretty backdrops!

But now for the real challenge: if you've confirmed that there are trees wherever there are ruins, can you confirm that there are ruins wherever there are trees? :p

I wish it was like this :) Place feels like Col 173 sectors, trees on each suitable body, later today (once I got enough of pretty pictures ;) ) I will move outside the nebula and find out how far do they stretch. I tried 300 ly from the nebula on my way in and there were no trees.

Hmm, if the 'Club' = Elite Federation of Pilots then the 'Founders' are the Elders who live on Shintara (Founders World). Try reading the beacons in Shinrarta Dezhra for insight.

Also, does anyone else find it strange how Halsey goes missing around the same time Hengest Duval is assasinated?

Halsey links back to Metadrive and the PF proxies.
Hengest links back to Emperor's Dawn.

If we can link the late emperor's death to the PF we might be on to something... Besides the PF has supported terrorists before (SDC).

Hi folks, I have a question which a quick look through Cannon lore & the op of this thread hasn't answered (but I might well have missed it), last night I travelled through Hyades Sector DB-X C1-19 & was surprised to come across 3 USS Anomalies Threat 4 virtually next to each other, dropped out into 1 & scooped up the UA.
The name of the system rang a bell, so I checked out the Cannon Thargoid structures 3D map, & yep it's on there.

So my main question is, does a proliferation of UAs mean the system has a Thargoid structure? Or likely to?
Has this possible correlation already been investigated? If so, link me please :), if not, is it because investigations using the ULs etc have provided precise locations for new sites? Btw have all those leads been exhausted?
I noticed that at least some systems in the UA spawn list are not in the Thargoid structures map, barring the systems with no planets, are they potential candidates for finding new structures?

You see I'm one of the (newer) Rifters, & eyeballing entire planets for structures (especially these much larger & easier to see Thargoid ones) is not out of the question! ;)
Also I have an Imperial Eagle kitted out for speed, left sitting about doing nothing (left over from the attempt to protect Salome, RIP).
I was thinking if this possible correlation between UA appearances & Thargoid sites hadn't been significantly tested, I would be willing to scour a few systems, say systems with no more than a few landable planets though :p.
Or has this all been done before?
(Btw if someone answers me much after this page or the next, could you PM me please? These threads move on so quickly!).

Oh & something else, how come the systems in the UA 1.4 system list here aren't contained in the 1.4 UA spawn list google docs linked above? I understand that the googledoc is more upto date, but surely it should have the earlier found systems in it too? Or did those stop spawning UAs?

Nope.

USS containing UA's spawn in systems 135-150LY away from Merope... has no bearing on whether there's a US in the system and has been the case for a while.

With that in mind, that's also why you don't see an updated UA spawn list. The 135-150LY rule is what matters.

Ah ok thanks, btw US=Unknown Structures?
Where you said 'has no bearing', so I take it from that, that thought has already been well explored/investigated?

Oh & have all US leads been exhausted atm?

Yup re: US.

As far as I know all US leads are exhausted. That said, some new US were found *after* all leads were exhausted, so that doesn't mean more are out there.

RE: "here you said 'has no bearing', so I take it from that, that thought has already been well explored/investigated", I guess it's a matter of opinion on what you mean there.

The only systems containing US *and* have had reports of UAs being found have always been in the 135-150LY "shell". My own personal UA gathering site is a system with *only* the star in it, i.e no planets, so it's impossible for a US to be in system... same goes for it's neighbour ternary system with no planets which is my backup. So, if a "thorough investigation" is finding samples that contrary the idea that presence of UAs = Presence of USs, you have it. If you want something else, well, you'd have to flesh that out. To date any system in the shell has been found to spawn UAs.

For what it's worth, the first free-floating UA's (as they're called) were found much closer to Merope. It's speculated based on what little we knew at the time (as they were discovered literally a day or two before the patch which introduced the UA shell) that from the handful of systems we know about that they may have originally spawned anywhere within 100LY of Merope, given the volume of the shell and the volume of a 100LY bubble around Merope are fairly close in size. We'll never know for sure, but those first few UAs were found within a jump of Merope, but none have ever been found there since.

Disclaimer: I really know nothing about Elite lore.

Shortly after I started playing eight months ago, I started wondering about the Elite logo; specifically, the thing in the middle. I did some searching and didn't find anything other than "its a mystery" and pretty much moved on.

With the looming Return, I've been wondering about it again.

Is there a definative explaination? To me, it has always looked like Anubis in a space suit, and if it hasn't been explained yet, is it a Guardian?

Ok, so re US, anymore finds at this stage will either be by blind luck or brute force searching, that's why I was thinking of the UAs.......

But I see what you're saying now re US bubble & UA shell, both of which have had many systems reported in, so it's well explored even if(?) the areas they occupy hadn't been compared.
Looking at the 3D US map I see that many sites are very near to Merope, hence a bubble & not the shell of 135-150 LYs the UAs (now) occupy (I'm not worried by pre 1.4 locations).
I was already aware that some UA systems don't have planets, I was wondering if UAs in a system meant it was much more likely to mean a US is also there when their are planets, but I see now that's not really the case, other than the UAs occupy some of the same space as US's.
I see last month people were looking into the correlation between US & ammonia worlds, & this did indeed turn out to be the case, so those systems look like a good candidate to investigate instead (I passed through 1 last night too).
Seeing as active US sites are linked to 3 other US sites (is it a max of 3?), maybe educated guesses could be made for inactive US site (would be) links to known US sites (inactive/active)? Also estimated links could be made to potential new sites.

Do any of the active sites link (as in point) to each other? (I hope not, as that would complicate any educated guesses! ;)) - [update] I guess that's a yes, & that's what 'Times referenced' means in the table...... damn!

Btw, I assume some people are still searching for new sites? Any co-ordinated mapping regarding this?

Some people are still searching ammonia worlds in the area - feel free to try for yourself:

This is the map of the area from the front page:
https://map.canonn.technology/us/

I'm tempted to join in, I already have the map link, thanks anyway :), I noticed theirs quite a hole in the US bubble, top right, going diagonally down & through (with Sol nearest to you).
Might search a few systems once I've got my FDLs Thrusters to DD G4, just need to take it to Maia, so I'll probably end up exploring in that! lol, although my Imp Eagle's speed would be better for planet eye balling......

Anyway, so we need to look for systems within 150 LYs of Merope, have landable planets, have at least 1 planet with ammonia in it, & (to improve the odds) be in 1 of the gaps in the US bubble, well that narrows it down a bit! ;)
And once in such a system orbiting a landable planet, what's a good height to be eyeballing from? (Although I have been to 1 of the inactive sites, I can't remember at what height it became easily visible, although a scrnshot I have at 57 kms altitude, shows it very easily).

I was stopping the ship at about 300km, and searching with the external camera, it works. To look for ammonia bodies you can try this one, helps me finding fungal trees https://beta.spansh.co.uk/bodies

Good luck :D
