Your call, but if it were me, I would still update. It sounds like a software problem with the rollercoaster & E: D (and the latter might be fixed today). Might be worth waiting though to see how TJ and others get on once beta 1 hits.

got all set up to go, tried the little house demo which worked well

went to elite..... down for maintanence AGHT! ;)

in the mean time, I tried helix rollercoaster as TJ hinted he had tried it, but, whilst it fired up and detecte movement, it would not start, it said look at screen but when i moved my head the text moved with me.

also, (sorry for the Qs you must be getting fed up) where is the app to do your ipd? i have the ouculus world demo in the SDK but cant find owt else.

I'm only getting fed up in that I can't play Elite at the moment, and my Rift won't arrive until September at the earliest :eek: , but I think the ICD is set in the Oculus Config Tool. At least that's what it looks like to me... although it's all greyed out on mine as I don't have a Rift connected. :p

So does that mean you do have download the SDK to get the Config tool? I only download the runtime thingummy.

yea h found it. i was being a pleb.... thanks
thoughts so far.

will be better in winter. my forehead keeps geatting sweat on the lens

even after playing with the ipd it is a little blurred.

but the feeling of being in the room is quite amazing. i was looking at plants and leaves and it was so strange.

Did you disable the wscrip.exe and the ovservice files in task manager?

DK2 and text legibility - Through the lens

Hi all, I thought it might be interesting to try capturing some of the DK2 imagery via my iPhone placed up against the lenses. Ignore the chromatic aberration and focus problems, it's a result of juggling the headset and iPhone, and its not like this with the headset on and seated correctly.

Most of the text is fine except those panels in the center left and center right. Fortunately you can lean in, and when you scan your head around they're more readable, but it's still something you can't trivially read under all circumstances.

Left panel - Clear and readable

The headless pilot! - Positional tracking now means you can reposition yourself in novel ways within the cockpit, for that OOBE. I also stuck my head out the roof of my Cobra :D

certainly did

just tried radial g and whilst it was certainly VR i was fully looked over to the left and there was nothing i could do.

i guess things will improve with time btt i am curious to know how some people have them working.

Ok I have a problem. DK2 detected OK and firmware updated.

Mode set to Direct however starting up the demo room or the Eye measurement doesn't fire up the rift screen. It's plugged into a DVI port on the same card as my monitor which is in the HDMI port. I have the yellow light.

I don't need the power adapter plugged in as well do I?:S

This happened to me this morning... Try switching to the DVI connection into your desktop from the HDMI or VICE VERSA

OK, it works fine in Extended Desktop mode, no matter where I plug it in.

Just direct mode won't kick in.:S

I also have a 3rd monitor showing up, a disabled DVI flat panel.

SlackR just want to thank you for all your help. My rift is now calibrated correctly thanks to you, and the pixels are much better.
