no matter how many times Fdev apologizes for the situation in the first place.

How many times did Frontier apologise exactly? I don't recall seeing even one apology. Do please show an example.

I do recall David Braben once in an interview saying sorry. "Sorry you don't like that I'm not going to give you the game for which you paid me", basically.

Why should I do your work for you? You look it up. It's easy enough to find.

Someone's actually still sour of the fact that Elite doesnt have offline mode?

Didn't you know?? There's a whole new generation of offline complainers. Anyone who buys the PS4 or Xbox disc version expecting it to operate like a regular console game, only to find it has always-on DRM not mentioned on the box. Check out the one-star reviews on Amazon.

Total speculation warning but...... I can imagine that 3.0 won't be the core updates FD are working on... Imo that will get too confusing. I expect 3.0 to be a paid expansion..... I imagine they will keep the 1.x and 2.x numbering for the free core updates.
Speculation into overdrive and I would love to see 2 major core expansions one for the base game expanding on core missions, NPC wingmen, fixing mission logic and some more tools for exploration.

Then I could imagine a 2nd dlc expanding on horizons features. NPC crew, Inc srv control for multicrew, more surface missions and more life on the ground such as ai Devs and more focus on surface combat.

It would be nice... But I could be setting myself up for disappointment.

I think you're likely right, they're not likely to release "3.0: Bug fixes" or "3.0: Slightly improved mission system". :p We're likely to get core game fixes/improvements in point releases, then get back on the 'major feature' train again.

It's probably unlikely to be "3.0" either I reckon. I reckon we'll get just features releases (ED: Atmospheric Worlds, ED: Space Legs etc.) and players will opt in/out as they choose. Any further core game improvements would then be made available to everyone, regardless of version. I wouldn't actually mind if they had fewer (heresy, I know) releases per year, and flesh each feature out more.

Many people want major new content (guilds, atmospheric landings, space legs), not just a year of core-feature improvements.

Yes.

Core feature, while naturally well welcome, should have been already added considering the game is out for over 3 years now...

In that article, if i haven't misread, the problem, in Braben's opinion, is the player which has unrealistic expectations not the game (which is, beetwen the lines again in Braben's opinion, good).

It's the same story going on and on: except that if you promise space legs and atmospheric planet (Frontier's newsletter) and then, after getting people's money, many years later you start saying: "if we arrive there, If we would spend time to do that, It's something we would really do BUT" well there is definitly a problem and unfortunatly that doesn't lies on players.

Last post on this topic: apologies for going slightly off topic.

DRM and "not being able to see the galaxy information it needs" are very different things

I want major new content, but I'd still rather they took a year to flesh out & connect togethet core gameplay elements before doing so.

+1
FDev said that they are abandoning the seasons systems, so there will be no 3.0 as a first chapter of something new, rather a stopover of revamping, upgrading current features. It could very well be that it will be launched while some of the contents of 2.4 will be yet to be released.

+1 for the fewer updates per year as well, especially if they keep the Thargoid story dropping in slowly to keep those in/around the bubble.

Right, I paid a lifetime pass for new content or mechanics, not a core feature improvement, that should be free for everyone during the past 3 years. Now they are investing my money (for content and new seasons) in improving the core mechanics. And the best of all, no words about the lifetimepass, is it already forgotten?? Thanks FD. Waiting for some words from FD about it, but very disappointed...

My reading too. But the player's most unrealistic expectation is that the game he'll get is the game Braben advertised.

And is still advertising. Frontier's ED adverts at the moment are just... amazing.

"an age of interstellar war"
"humanity's frontier is reshaped, all by players' actions."
"real-world physics and a galaxy re-created down to the smallest detail"

Not. In. The. Game.

Age of interstellar war --> power vs power conflicts, faction vs faction conflicts in space = interstellar wars
Reshaped by players actions --> we can make factions run a system, help powers expand their influence, participate in CGs where the outcome decides if a station/planetary base/etc is built/added, some player factions get their own mega-ships/stations/etc
Real-world physics --> planets or stellar bodies orbit around massive stars, each moon and planet has it's own gravity that has an impact on your ships behavior, Your ship has a mass you have to deal with, even in SC you are affected by the gravity of stellar bodies. Try switching off FA in normal flight and you will see how physics have an impact.

So as far as I can see it, the game is advertised accurately :)

Ya know, if everyone just put Stachel on their ignore list, he'd be largely talking to himself......then maybe he'll just fade away.

You're not honestly claiming player factions are real are you?? All there is are NPC factions which Frontier occasionally renames in response to player requests by email. Some easily entertained players then get to pretend they are in a faction, even though there's not way for a player to join or leave a faction. This is simple relabelling, and makes zero difference to faction operation.

And yet you don't have a point apart from your very subjective opinion.

He talks to himself anyway because he always fails to adress the legit points some people make to counter his nonsense arguments.
