Notice to Devs. Do or die. Exploration.

At least post a GOOD Elite: Dangerous picture:

And this was taken from the actual game, and not a tech demo.

1: The debeigeifacation.
2: Add reflectivity from orbit.
3: Add transparency to ice worlds and shine to metallic worlds. Along with the lighting effects.

Definitely not my priorities in terms of exploration. I'd rather have a new, more involving game play and things to find in space and on planets.

The point being is that I have been behind Braben for many years. I hated what happened with Bell. But that's my thing. For the love of god dave would you please turn this into an exploration game? A proper one? You are sitting on sooooooo much money. You still. To this day they don't understand something. I know exactly where the Pleiades nebula is in my head. I know exactly where those pesky asteroids are in relation to them. To the second. I know every cluster out to the Formidine and back... I named them.

You vision looks terrible, I dont want that!

First off, the Ops vision of what would be better looks much more like a cartoon than anything in ED. The reality is that from a distance, planet's features will appear flattened and not have all the bumpiness in his altered version. I mean, look at nearly any photo of a planet. Now, smaller objects like moons will have more exaggerated features and they do show more of their features but that is also apparent in Elite Dangerous.

As for the SC comparisons "winning" well.. they can't win if they don't work in a game, and right now there's no game to work in. Come back with your screenshots once they are captured working video game. The reality is that once you need to account for other players, collision, objects, pathing, and all the other stuff that happens in a real playable game it will become very apparent that you need to scale back all the prettiness to make the thing playable and functioning. It's a balancing act.

Everyone agrees the coloring right now is off, and Frontier have stated they need to address it. That's good enough for me as it stands, and keeps things looking good.. but also realistic and not a cartoon.

I can't think of anything I have achieved in my life that is superior to your kickstarting Elite, so you definitely have me at an advantage. And I appreciate being called "boy,' which at my age is sheer flattery.

Maybe he meant "boi" as in a sort of BDSM thing.
In such circles the "boi" is the one who uh, does not hold the riding crop :D.

SC is vaporware at the moment (I am a backer). Please do not ever bring that game up unless you want to give people a good laugh. Also when it does come out, maybe in 5 years time if we are lucky, they will only have a few systems to explore, so yep look good, not.

Let's not forget that we won't have the full E.D. for another 7 years... 10 year plan and all.... People seem to forget that little titbit..

You can play what's available on SC. And you can play what's available on E.D.

Both have years of work ahead to git gud...

Honestly I think the landsacpes and planets look pretty good, for cartoony look at No man's sky! I agree lots of planets look similar but that's because they would.

I don't think there are many transparent or shiy objects in space in reality. Are there things with a high albiedo - certainly but the difference this makes to lighting is I suspect minimal.

All in all I don't think these are my top requests for frontier to be spending their time on.

Sigh, I wasn't stating that Frontier agrees with my opinions on "what is fun", just that they agree with me that the beige needs fixing. I thought that was apparent, but for the super literal I will change my post thusly:

Just for you Sleut!!!

Cant give you more rep, but know I am deeply grateful! :p

I'm going to laugh real hard when 3.0 goes live.

Notice to devs: I like exploration.

Same here. In general, it's probably my favorite part of the game, at least insofar as its part within the game as a whole.

That being said, I think most everyone can agree that there are areas for exploration improvement, Commander agency, and immersion in general. New game features such as atmospheric worlds, water worlds you could submerge ships into, space-legs, and many others would certainly go a long way to help as well, especially with comprehensive and apt game mechanics that make sense within the context of this game's universe to support them. Hopefully Frontier are continuing to work toward implementing these sorts of feature in the game in the future.

Likewise though, there are also areas for improvement within the main features of the game we have currently. I'd personally prefer more exploration type mechanics and opportunities that didn't tend to cater around the paths of least resistance that we seem to be getting more often than anything else, such as range boosting and travel streamlining. I'd prefer the scale of the galaxy were used as an advantage for interesting game-play instead of something to be avoided while on route to somewhere more interesting.
