Thargoid Non-Aggression Pact!

Fine... so where is the evidence of Thargoid attack on the fleets we are now coming across? They're not using any weapon on us that we've seen on the various ship wrecks, and there'e been no direct witnessing of a Thargoid actually being the aggressor in any of these battles.

Until we see some evidence of that... I still believe they're non-aggressive and are acting defensively.

A fair point. Although I know some thargoids have engagef without provocation, this has been in hyperdictions only thus far. Havent seen a hostile Thargoid myself yet but I'll treat them with caution and respect. I prefer peaceful coexistance anyway.

Caution and Respect. I believe this is absolutely the way forward right now. IF they turn out to be hostile and aggressive... then I'll be joining my guns with everyone else of course.

I agree with this. I'm sure that these are vessels are focused on salvage, though. These specific specimens may not be using caustic weapons right now, but they are Thargoid and Thargoids did destroy those fleets. If these are a different faction or just a salvage/science operation, they naturally won't be well armed or as hostile.

There is something weird, or seems so.

I must have seen 20 Thargoid ships last night. Never was attacked, but I was threatened for encroaching on their space. They'd turn red and deploy the swarm, but always in a defensive manner. When I backed off, the Thargoid stood down.

So I shall continue to treat these Thargoids with caution and respect, until otherwise is returned.

What seems weirdest to me, is the disparity between the weapons and damage scars we see. In the video above, Noctover is fired upon by red beams, but doesn't suffer any of the green scarring we see on the disabled ships that the Thargoids are scanning. Why? Is it another type of weapon they aren't firing at us? If so, why aren't they firing at us with this weapon? Or did something else fire on those ships and disable them?

I can't put it together. I fully expected to see CMDR ships with green smoldering corrosion damage details on the surface. But so far, it doesn't appear to be happening.

If somebody can posts screens of their ship having suffered the green damage, please do. I'd love to clear up this issue.

IMO, this is because the Thargoids never actually attacked those ships. I believe there is another entity involved, that we've yet to encounter, and the Thargoids are also trying to locate - both are late each time.

I think there is a possibility that SOME Thargoids maybe be aggressive, however there is no evidence to support this yet.

Nothing nitpicky about it - they don't KOS, they don't immediately throw their entire arsenal at you when you appear, and they ignore you if you leave them alone. The ONLY time I've seen attacks is if they're provoked in some way, be it an accidental ramming, or just flying into their personal space - they're both things they don't like, and we should respect. I've yet to see one fly up to you , scan you and them decide it doesn't like you and open fire - there is ALWAYS a reason they've attacked.

Isn't that what happens in the linked vid? They pull the CMDR out of hyperspace, EMP them and open fire while they player is still disabled. I mean it looks to me like they were throwing their entire arsenal at them?

I'm unsure. Check out the video where the CMDR dropped 24 Meta-Alloys. The first Thargoid just scanned him, and began collecting the Meta-Alloys. No EMP, no attack.

But then a 2nd Thargoid jumps in, and for no reason fires an EMP, disabling the CMDRs ship, and then calmly began help collect Meta-Alloys with the other Thargoid. The 1st Thargoid saw no reason to EMP, so I'm not sure how to read this. Just a basic preventive/defensive measure by the 2nd unit arriving on-scene?

In the Hyperdiction, perhaps the attack was triggered by getting and staying too close to the Thargoid after the drop. And once the 2nd or 3rd Thargoid arrives, pops an EMP, the CMDR is stuck and has to wait, unable to move away if he wanted to.

But again, all guesses and uncertain interpretations of what I'm seeing.

I was fired upon without warning.

Never met a Thargoid before today.
Turn up to a USS. It doesn't even scan me, just opened fire.

Just sayin'. Lol

Damn thing blew up my FDL. My FDL that hasn't been destroyed since I brought it in 1.4!!

They shall not be forgiven.

I have decided that, until evidence is supplied to confirm they are aggressive and an enemy, that I shall refrain from engaging Thargoid ships. I don't believe they are the enemy and I firmly believe we are still waiting to find out who the green corrosive sneezing aliens are - as THEY seem to be the aggressors. We've yet to actually witness a Thargoid destroying anything unprovoked.

Peace to our alien buggy friends.

I am all for it. What an opportunity! Lets be friends, my Clipper for a Rose ship, shake hands and start trade.

Considering they are abducting people gonna go out on a limb and suggest they aren't playing nice

Snack time anyone?

Oh come on, how many thousands of other pilots have you killed, either because they were pirates or just a faction you didn't like? How many occupied escape pods have you ignored simply because it didn't promise a lot of pay?

Thargoids observing us probably (and correctly) concluded that humans don't actually have much value for other human life. Especially ones that fly other colors than them. I mean thousands upon thousands of ships are destroyed in PP alone and it's technically still not 'war'.

As far as I'm concerned the Empire and the Federation (and to some degree the Alliance) are inhuman, and would rather sooner ally myself with intelligent peaceful post-scarcity space egalitarians than most other human factions. Of course I know little about the Thargoids, which is why I'm cautious. But so far they have never given me any reason to oppose them. Imperial, Sirius, or Federal pilots--who were actively researching genocide weapons and shooting first without even trying to contact them--getting kidnapped by aliens means about as much to me as watching someone blow up an Imperial slaver. Nothing really.

Don't wanna burst your bubble or anything, but if i'm on a packed tube train the person next to me dosent give me a 30 second warning to move before punching me in the face until i'm dead as that would be considered unprovoked. Given this is exactly what the Thargoid did yesterday when i was 900m away i'd say unprovoked attacks are pretty rife with the Aliens :).

Further more yesterday myself (and there are videos of several others) who have been hyperdicted and shot at before the ship even reboots by 3 Thargoids...sounds pretty unprovoked to me.

I've been shot at twice and I haven't fired a shot at them

I did have a thargoid probe and link in my cargo hold on one of those occasions, but both times I was stationary and had them targeted for scanning
So unless that's seen as provocation, I think it's right to assume SOME are hostile

If not provoked (fired upon, rammed or having (any) Targoïd devices in your cargo hold or getting closer (below 400 meters), my observations so far, are that they do not open fire.

If you carry a Targoïd device in your cargo hold and don't drop it, it will open fire, according to what I have observed.

I was the guy interdicted from hyperspace and i really did nothing to provoke them, im was not even prepared.

I assume, when they hyperdict you then they go hostile.
If you enter a non human signal then it depends on your behaviour and their mood.

If you enter us

Lol im sorry, so they just have all the makings of a nutcase then?

"Your honour, my client is no danger to the public providing he is not approached, touched, spoken to, refereed to, looked at, and no valuable items are in his vicinity."

Your right guys lets offer them tea and biscuits i see no hostility from our civilised alien friends.....

I tried this in another thread, seems people would rather shoot first. Add me to the list of those with SOME common sense. Also, watch the videos...they're not overtly aggressive (I swear there's something going on with the colorations...)

Wonder why they'd be hostile to a race with that mindset...

I was hyperdicted (and I've seen other videos that follow this pattern...) and they were not hostile. They knocked out all my systems and then scanned me, turning and taking off without harm. This was while holding the biological samples from the "bases" as well. If they wanted to frag me, they could have easily done so. That's not, to my mind, a sign of hostility. Curiosity, maybe.

I just had a Thargoid scan me and started to turn away when it suddenly turn back to face me while deploying it's drones like it decided on a whim to attack me. All Thargoids are like humans. Hostile until proven otherwise.
