"Something for the ladies" - Feminine versions of rank titles please?

If Aisling Duval is a princess then it puts an end to "there are no gender specific titles in 3301" (which has always been the argument from what I've read).

Well, no it doesn't. When the titles were decided, the female form of Princess (instead of Prince) was chosen. So, there are no princes anymore - all people bearing that title are princesses. :p

However, when FD do get around to adding the gender specific titles, do we get to choose to be Thargoid too? :D

You can't have it both ways, either make Duval a prince or put in female ranks.

Yeah, they can. The Duvals are the Imperial Royal Family, they can call themselves whatever they like. Hence, Arissa goes by the style Emperor whilst Aisling uses Princess.

The titles that we Commanders receive are only honourary, like a celebrity would receive an honourary degree from a university.

Jeez even our videogames are getting taken over by PC feminists. All the things this game could have improved and we get people asking for this ridiculous nonsense.
It is a fictional video game people. Remember that. If your feelings are hurt from something so pointless, them maybe you should see a psychiatrist.

Would that be a male, female or attack helicopter psychiarist?

Solution: Join the Federation, our ranks are already gender-neutral. :p

Though honestly the Empire titles are silly in general because they don't give you any land to go with it. What is a king with no kingdom, a duke with no duchy, a baron with no barony, or a lord with no feif?

That's like saying "Hi I'm the governor." "The governor of what?" "Nowhere, I'm just the governor because I like how that title sounds."

As I said earlier - the ranks and titles are just honourary.

Commanders with the title Duke do not have a fief. Commanders who are Admiral do not get a fleet.

They are just a way for the superpowers to pat you on the head and say "good boy' for being a good lapdog ;)

Just a rank title.

That's like saying "Hi I'm the governor." "The governor of what?" "Nowhere, I'm just the governor because I like how that title sounds."

"Hi, I'm the sheriff." "And what shire are you reeve of?"

"Hi, I'm the local marshall." "How many horses do you stable?"

Meanings of words and uses of titles change.

As I said earlier - the ranks and titles are just honourary.

They have tangible effects in-game, so aren't purely honorary, even if they don't grant CMDRs and special powers of command.

Duke was derived from dux, which was originally just an informal term for leader. 34th century use of the term could easily have gone back in that direction.

Stop being a such a gate-keeper with this "boys only club" attitude, makes you seem really fragile.

In an Empire where a woman is the Emperor (not Empress, Emperor) I don't think female reskins of existing titles fits the theme of the Empire in the slightest.

Clearly Imperial feminism moved in a different direction, and seized formerly male-only titles for their own use. Clearly a Duke, Lord, etc are NOT male-only titles in the Empire, whatever the 21st century English says they are. Try to keep up with the times, ladies.

Some people don't really use too much of their brain, it seems.

If this is about sexism not including gender specific ranks I don't really see it.
In the way ranks work as of now, gender does not matter, meaning it can't be sexist.

You're a female of the highest Imperial rank? Well you're a King.
You're a male of the highest Imperial rank? Well you're a King.

But the again, why even join the Imperials to begin with? The Federation and more accurate Felicia Winters, is where the right choice is.

If you are getting this upset about people disagreeing with you on what fake titles should be awarded in a computer game, maybe you aren't the ideal person to offer such advice.

I think I might have commented on this thread before.
Might have the same answer.

Title of "King" as a rank in Empire is just .. completely changing the definition of the word.
Rather remove the gender-specific titles completely and use existing current navy one's.

Ensign
Lieutenant Junior Grade
Lieutenant
Lieutenant Commander
Commander
Captain
Rear Admiral (lower half)
Rear Admiral (upper half)
Vice Admiral
Admiral

And Fleet Admiral for Squadrons. :D
