Never again the T-9

New piece of Thargoid tech... Infinity Cargo Racks
Fold space to hold double mass in same volume.
Require higher rated PP and beaucoup de credits.

For "Space Trucking" it is hard to beat a Gutamaya Cutter. o7

Truth. I love my cutter. It runs a 5a prismatic shield for 760 cargo, and it is engineered for battle so I can do light to medium PVP in it or by swapping a few modules use it as a pirate. Nothing like flying a trader that can actually fight - thermal reactive armor, 7 heavy boosters and 1 heat sink, feedback rail, containment missile, dispersal Cannon and overcharged MC...it can do it all! (Well, except for handle dispersal plasma builds!)

But I wish the type10 had a larger cargo capacity than a cutter. Or give me a more expensive type9 than can ho,d more cargo than a cutter (AHEM type 10 cough)

Hauling minerals from planet to station within the same system, not as profitable as some of the other things you can do, but it's an honest living and me and my girl are doing just fine :D

Eh, nothing against your build but why would anybody struggling to survive in a T9 go into a res for mining? I always did my mining (in the T9 or any other ship I used for mining) in random spots where no enemys are.

The magic pirate beacon activates as soon as you drop, ahhh no pirates in an unhabitated system, 100.000LS to the rings and as soon as you drop into the rings every god ¥€%%# pirate in the game flocks around you!

Guys, do you know life and pleasure aren't about optimisation ? T9 is slow, massive, poor jump range, but it provide great feelings if you like industrial design... Stop thinking about "credit by hour" and begin to find something more deep. Mining and tradin in T9 are really excellent memory for me, and i'm on the road to buy and engeneer a new one dedicated to mining, only because it's a beautiful ship :)
So you're saying to optimize your enjoyment, stop thinking about optimization and accept the really challenged aspects of that flying shoebox.

If you go say 200 LY outside the bubble to an uninhabited system and try to mine, do you still get pirates? How far out do you have to go before they no longer appear?

Ye olde dimensional pocket ... :) Why not? I'm totally for it. They need to add unique things like this for us to quest for that does NOT involve engineers and their randomness.

I tend to mine a couple of hundred light years out, no NPC's at all. Keep in mind NPC behaviour in populated space is very predictable and easy to deal with. If you drop outside a RES the same thing will always happen, after a few seconds a fuzzy contact will appear, at this point immediately go silent and safely move away from the target (even in a slow lumbering ship) If you hang about till the contact intercepts, all you need is a couple of seekers, the NPC will high wake if you pummel it.

Bought one after the Kamadhenu campaign to play following ones and fully A-graded it.

The blind compulsion to A-rate everything bit you in the here. Upgrading the thrusters on a T-9 is a mistake. You're adding weight for zero benefit. Because...

It resulted in me being unable to run away from interdictors

this. No matter how much you upgrade the thrusters, you can't run away. So why do it?

If anyone is reading this and considering a T-9, try a class-5 prismatic shield, engineered reinforced, with two boosters, one heavy duty, and the other resistance augmented. Keep the base armor, and engineer it heavy (this doesn't add any weight). Make everything else as small and light as possible (1d distributor for example) You can get 500 tonnes of cargo with around 20 light years jump range. No NPC will be able to kill you.

You obviously can't venture into open with it. That goes without saying.

I have to say, this is the most annoying thing about Elite right now, in my opinion. The spawn rate of NPCs is too damn high. There's something neat about being alone in the vastness of space. But for whatever reason, Frontier has decided that there should always be pirates. There's a 100% chance of seeing them in rings and on planet surfaces.

It spoils the experience, in my opinion. All they need to do is reduce the probability a bit, and I wouldn't complain.

Not reduce, but adjust. In an unpopulated system 100k Ly from the star there should be no pirates.

Love the T9!
I use it for short, profitable cargo runs and general trading CGs. Because of that, i dont see the need for a fuel scoop. More cargo space for me! But i do have 6A engineered shields and 4 boosters! And if i played in open i would use a 7A!
I have a FSD lvl5 so the jump range is ok. Also dirty tuned 7A engines. Still handles like a brick, but feels like a slightly lighter brick.
Also no weapons! I have no use for them!
