Why is the new Krait so big?

On that note:
Give it a special SLF the Assault Craft, the original Krait reworked as an SLF.
Thus you have a Krait launching mini Kraits!

KRait-astic!

'ere comes the Krait-a-pult!

Ahem. I made a post stating just call the condor a Fed licensed krait. Seriously, look at the condor, then look at the original krait, the similarities are there to see, with some tweaks here and there.

The landing pads retract into docking bays, so it's not just length and width that matter.

Refer to the T-7.
Easily fits on a Medium Pad, except for a 0.5m height excess.
Terrible design decision - letting it fit on a Medium would give it a clear trading niche.

It had a clear trading niche back when the price difference between a T7 and a Python meant there were weeks of time when one could afford the former, but not the latter, rather than hours.

I used to hate the python. Till I flew one.

A big ship, on a medium pad.

Ummm if the "fighter bay" is a fighter bay, where's the SRV bay? :S

EDIT: i'm just hoping for a decent range medium ship. You've got the AspX, or maybe a light-weight Python pushing 40Ly, but something to fill out that area for a multirole with good range.

Not to go all off topic here, but I completely agree. The cargo hauling ships should be the largest per pad to naturally maximise load per drop. T6 should be on a small pad and T7 on a medium.

Can someone Humour me and compare that image and a Sidewinder to compare the cargo hatch

Sidewinder is three cargo hatches long and four cargo hatches wide.

2000

Krait seems to be about ten hatches long and eight hatches wide.

:D

But it should be.

It's just not a realistic expectation.

If we ever get to wander around inside our ships, they're going to have to dream up stuff which will fill most of the internal space and then it'll be a case of having "empty" areas which will be populated with stuff when we fit Shields, Cargo Racks, Cabins, SCBs or whatever.

Here's a little sketch I made which provides an idea of how the internal slots of a Cobra 3 would impact on the internal space.

Presumably, most of the internal space is taken up with core systems and there's only a small percentage turned over to optional modules.

Yes well, I don’t expect it, but I would like it.
