Please tell me you're at least related to "The Voice of Open" :D

I dont even know who that is.

Funny story, when I was streaming my audience was telling me about the BGS when I first started getting deep in Elite. I came to these forums thinking I had some awesome idea that could help this game out. All on my own with no influence. See how people are complaining about getting griefed and ganked? I was the biggest carebear of them all. You dont even know.

So I came here, made a post. It was instantly locked by Agony Aunt with a reply that said take it to hotel california.

I was like What is the heck is that? After looking around I found the thread. There were lots of good suggestions there. And on almost every page with a good suggestion, you were there linking that wall of text.

So its really odd how people come and go. And quit because of it.

Because its not balanced.

It wont go on forever. The simple changes needed would only effect player factions and powerplay. Everything thats NPC based and not owned by a player faction would still the same.

And with the Guilds/Fleets that are coming. I can see that easily happening because its gone on long enough.

One of the reasons my kids are home schooled with a selection of tutors to supplement.
Unfortunately, the people most affected by this don't have a sufficient education themselves to conduct it, and the schooling option is usually cheaper*. The majority of our country are still feeling the affects left over from the previous government (South Africa). So the end result is a highly under-educated generation, who have been brought up to believe that the world owes them something.

* Our legal system caters for education for poor families in particular, one such law is: If the combined annual income of the parents is less than ten times the annual school fee, the child is legally exempt from paying school fees.

Replace Dragon with A GOD and you're onto something.

I feel I missed something last night while I was out at the pub..

but here is the thing YOU already got your wing mates, and have had then since.............. 1.2 was it?
I have been waiting for 2.5 years for mine, and , unlike some of the features added into the game, npc wingmates were in the very original design plan that you bought into.

Technically i am not asking for special treatment, just asking for equality and for what was advertised.

If you want, I'll wing up with you and pretend I'm an NPC.

Macro up 5 or 10 lines to spam occasionally in chat. We can go take on a Thargoid together. :)

Oh good.

Because I figured Frontier resolved the issue by keeping the Thargoids localized to one area. If CMDRs aren't up to the task, they can avoid them.

You can nearly 100% avoid them. The main way you interact with them is to drop into a USS. Aside from the occasional hyperdiction, which I've never had.

You won't see Thargoids in normal game play. Unless something has really changed. I can't be bothered with them as the whole USS thing is too dopey for me.

No more hyperdictions?

I think they still happen. I've never been hyperdicted, so don't really know.

I do know if I want to fight a Thargoid, I go down to the Pleiades and look for USS's.

I do enough searching for USS's doing engineering. I'm not doing it looking for the content of 2.4.

I'm based in the Pleiades these days, and have been hyperdicted quite a few times - it's fun!

I want the goids to spread galaxy-wide - imagine the fear, tears, and rage :p

Reddit says they are happening 100ly from SOL now. Multiple reports.

I hope they destroy everything. Anywhere Ollobrains, or anyone else dropped a UA on a station. Let them be a tracking signal for them. And pop the whole dang bubble.

Its too big, I think the BGS, player interaction all that good stuff would be much better in a smaller area.

Indeed. I further imagine SJA sitting in her rocking chair in front of a crackling hearth, stroking her long haired Persian with a dreamy look in her eyes and an evil smile on her face.

This reminds me of the fight between those inhabiting empire space and null sec in EVE with regard to content. Except here players really have the option of opting out of more dynamic game play when playing solo. i have to say those resisting more dynamic gameplay and deeper content are a bit ridiculous. For the most part a deeper sandbox isn't going to have much if any effect on their play, so why bother railing against it? The only thing I can think of is it disturbs the cocooned like coma they see and are happy to play in. Why not be happy with what your doing, and let the sandbox evolve?

Because they are stuck in 1984.

I'm absolutely loving it - I've been having a go at soloing a Goid and gotten blown up in my dropship, escaped with tail between legs and grinning like a maniac in my Conda, doing Fed missions and ranking up to get a Fed Funship (just one more rank to go!) and being hyperdicted flitting between Pleiades systems. Giving the odd CMDR I spot there the salute.

With the Goids in-game and hyperdicting, getting that old-skool Elite vibe back and having a whale of a time! They definitely should eventually be everywhere - Space is disease and danger wrapped in darkness and silence, after all ;)
