anytime someone complains about being killed by other human players, it makes me wish more people would kill those human players.
Oh I'm going to be prepared to just that and not run around with some silly weapons that only hurt fleshly Thyroids.

Woo Hoo ... a patch!

Grabs coffee and settles down to read the patch notes.

Oh.

Seriously tho - cheers Brett, patches are always a welcome surprise. Onwards and upwards.

Its the stuff that they do and not tell us that is the best ;)

Still no type 10?

Rumours of its imminent release are greatly exaggerated. I hope it will be Alliance ranked , like the Krait, :p

AARRGGhhhhhhhh..
6 hours now trying to do the upgrade.
Five times it crashed because I had an I/O DEVICE HANDLING EXCEPTION.
If other games can make their launchers/down-loaders restart at the point where they left off, why can't Frontier.
Presently sitting here why the blue bar all the way to the right with a note <1m ( I think that means less than 1 minute) for nearly an hour and it hasn't completed yet. Download speed is showing as 13.55 MB/s.
Yes, I have the I/O Device Handling Error AGAIN..

What a shame you haven't fixed the bug witch IV had for over 4 months now!!! IV not been able to access the mission board or passenger board for over 4 MONTHS..yes 4 MONTHS!! I'm absolutely disgusted at you not replying to none of my posts.yet you have the audacity to reply to everyone else's. IV been playing this game now since it was released on Xbox one. Never again will I spend a penny on anything frontier developes. The way you deal with your customers is disgusting.

You did get a reply from CMDR Vanguard (Customer Support). Have you submitted a ticket as he asked?

The downloader should normally restart when you've used cancel to interrupt an update.
Check in the 'Options' for the launcher that you have the 'Enable Cache Check' and 'Enable Virtual Cache' options ticked, this will reduce the amount of data that the patcher downloads.
It might be worth using the "Validate Game Files" option that's there to check for any errors first of all if you haven't already.

The error message is more likely indicating a drive or file-system error though I'd have thought - it sounds a little more fatal than just a validation type error.

Rule out the obvious first though - Does the drive have plenty of free space on it, and does the main OS drive have space too? (in case it's creating temporary files there)

Have you tried the steps in this FAQ article? https://support.frontier.co.uk/kb/faq.php?id=283

If the issue remains then I'd recommend that you run a CHKDSK on your drive(s) to make sure that there's no issues that can be causing this.
Open Windows Explorer and right click on the drive letter that you are installing the game to, select Properties. In the window that opens, switch to the Tools tab and click 'Check now' in error checking - just check for file system errors first, if that doesn't turn anything up, repeat and check for bad sectors too.

If none of this helps, then I'd suggest opening a ticket from the link at the bottom of that FAQ page. This is a discussion area of the forum so you won't get direct help from FD here for issues.

Good luck!

Lost interest when 2.4 ended up being 2.3 with ship buffs and nerfs. The type ten comes out in patch 2.4.1 or 2.4.2 or...who gives a ????. I've decided playing subnautica passes the time away while frontier drag this out for another year. This was not what I paid for. I paid for ten years of decent updates. At least subnautica reminds us we pay £17 for a damned fine game then move on from there to the next damned fine game. You've have enough money from us players. Time to cough up the goods we paid for.
I'll tell you something for nothing: I get a chill running up and down my spine when I get attacked by one of the subnautica fish. Even the little ones that cannot kill you in game. When a Thargoid attacks, it's...yeah, whatever. And I've never been attacked by one yet. You have to enter one of those instances. It's puke stuff that. It really is. Not even a joke. If you really want to get a thrill from something...dangerous, take your seamoth down past five hundred meters...and see how long you live for. And it's thrilling because when you loose your ship, you loose it all. It hurts. Which is nice. Adds to the thrill of it all. You really know what risk means. You take the risk, you thrown the dice, and you survive and it adds to it all. I think you people at frontier can learn something about...dangerous and thrills. Something your game sadly lacks at all. If you don't instance you don't get new content.
Edit: And yes, I classify subnautica as a space simulator. Ship in space, sub in ocean. Same thing.

Ok, I have plenty of disk space.
All the things are selected in OPTIONS.
Don't see a VALIDATE GAME FILES.
The FAQ is of no help since my error is not a validation error. It is an Unhandled Exception I/O Device Error.
I have a support ticket open and they had me uninstall and reinstall the .net framework files.
Still got the same error.
Very odd that even after the error message, it will continue the FILE SYNC all the way to the <1m point and then never finish.
Very odd that the error says it is an I/O device but when I click OK to close the error message, Windows closes the launcher. That implies that Windows thinks the launcher initiated the I/O device request.
