I always hear about player defense initiatives running out of steam due to having a hard time figuring out where the "bad" guys are going to be. Seems like this would be a great place for some of you guys to step up to the plate and give the rescuers some cover fire. I'd be more inclined to do that then complain here.

Block them. Until C&P gets implemented, that's the only way to push back. If enough of us do that, they'll only instance with each other.
Edit: actually, maybe it's time to update my block list. A couple of hours in an E rated unshielded asp should do it, that's got a cheap rebuy.

Oh, but there is another way. I outlined it a few comments above in post #82.
I've been involved in a couple of those, all that happens is that the gankers log when someone actually shoots back.

Once upon a time, far far away visiting the Jameson crash. I had log off while still at the crash site. Upon relogging back in a few hours later, there in front of me was a CMDR in a Anaconda hovering over the crash ship.
He noticed me sitting there in my sheildless/weaponless ASPX, got slightly above me, never said Hi and just blew me away.

Yes, but that is actually achieving the objective, isn't it? One way or another.
People will shoot you in game because they can. If you don't like it then switch mode/ block them/ shoot back or whine like a little girl. 
The objective is to make them stop. That's why a few of us went in with cheap heat meta ships, to gank the gankers so to speak. But apparently they were not too keen to play.
Just add them to your ignore list. Also, the Fuel Rats should really start to compile a (public) blacklist of such... "people most of us would rather not play with". Diplomatic enough?
Stop your whining and feeding the gankers their ration of salt and go to Solo or Mobius.
