Obsidian Orbital in Maia has been attacked by the thargoids

I loved those Palin Mission before the new crashed thargoids were discovered. It was a great motivator to explore the thargoid bases which I think are being recycled.

...and no one noticed? Surely CMDRs are flying there all the time, and no one noticed/saw Thargoids blowing the poop out of it? Hmmm...

Question: If everyone rallies to help, or if no one lifts a finger, will the outcome differ?

Suggestion: Early every Thursday morning CMDRs fly to stations seemingly at risk ready to defend them from the Thursday morning Thargoid attack?

Nobody will ever see a Thargoid attack and if nobody goes to the station, nothing will change. It's more like reading a story than being part of the story and if you were at that station, the station would suddenly be on fire and you'd be like, "What Thargoids?"

Please make this one a "Defend station from Thargoid" mission and not a Passenger mission.

But as pointed out, the Thargoids attack stations on Thursday mornings in SOLO mode, so there's nothing we can do about it! They've watched us for the past 3-4 years and realised doing it in SOLO is far easier than in OPEN!

So this is the first non new for 2.4 station to be attacked, right? Well at least now we know that all stations can potentially be attacked by the Thargoids, meaning that any station in the bubble can also fall into the “attacked” state.

A bubble invasion just became a potential possibility today!

I can see doing rescue missions and getting bugged by the nervous passengers and Palin...

I just hope I get my second commander ranked up with Paling before they wipe out his base. [where is it]

Ye, well it,s Thursday, and if enough cmdr,s grind a-b mats, it will be magically fixed one future Thursday. That's the story. (If your lucky, maybe a CG will fix it sooner)

Add me to the list of "yes please, do this".

Just keep in mind that if they do then the usual suspects will moan about how they can only watch it on YouTube because there's a vanishingly small chance of being at the right station ahead of time etc etc etc.

You forgot the part where those usual suspects are also those who complain the most bitterly, and unironically, about things only happening in server downtime [where is it]

I'd also like to see as a real in-game event, even if that means I miss out because I can't be there/online at the time.

But that's not the mechanic we have, so I evaluate my options, and find I enjoy the game regardless :x

It has always been a possibility. Most players just try everything to ignore that possibility. Assuming that Thargoids are just reacting to our actions. Searching for every excuse that the Thargoids are peaceful at their hearts.
They expect that doing nothing will result in nothing bad happening to them.

Yeah, it happens during server downtime. Folks who actually play the game know this.

Yes, people who "play the game" understand the limitations of the current mechanics...

It's clearly questionable though how many of those folks understand the notion of sarcasm though.

Nothing at all to suggest that. Obsidian Orbital was one of the main research ports in the region.

And now that I've caught up on the entire thread...

I was wondering if this would happen.

The first couple of waves of attacks fell sort of "randomly" around the Pleiades, then there was a lull.

The next wave of attacks sort of put a cordon around Maia (I'm at work, and have no Galmap, so this is from memory).

Its looked for quite some time like the Thargoids are looking for someone/thing. Sure at first they could just have been assessing us, sizing us up, but then it did seem to me to become more of a search.

Aegis is a logical choice, as the newer info about them paints a dark picture of their methods, activities and maybe objectives.

But with the apparent 'ring' of attacks around Maia, I wonder if they haven't been looking for Palin. Hasn't he been publicly associated with examining the unknown artefacts etc, and now outright Thargoid materials, for longer than anyone else?

And today Obsidian Orbital is burning.

Oh have they indeed! Well I for one will not be standing for such shenannagins.

Have seen loads for thargs, never been attacked. I did cannon up in case they got my dander up tho, Delbert McClintock the FGS was all pimped for bug bashing and shipped to the area 2weeks ago.

Tonite is Delberts coming out party. “

Not sure I would agree. If you want real upset/interest - surely Jameson Memorial is the ultimate prize?

Obsidian Orbital, by contrast, is mere spectator sport... ;-)

If Jameson would burn I would be like woah FD you have some balls there :D

And then I would make lot of popcorn to get it all salty and vet.

Sure but it isn't one of the new recently added 2.4 stations, it's been there for a long time. This disproves the notion that only the new Aegis stations can be attacked, which opens up a lot of possibilities.
