The epic win of Beyond

For me FD did an amazing job. Look at other Titels that were continued and ended up in an soulless-action-titel just to catch more fish and completly neglected the fanbase of the original titel.
So i'm happy that Braben holds the line.

Hell yeah. I'm skeptical by nature but elite is one of the few games as service things i wholeheartedly have fallen for.

Don't do the hero worship crap because that's what the other game does. Its just poor form all round.

I'm not sure he's really that involved anyway. Eg, if you were lording around, went to a restaurant, ordered a combat type 9, if the waiter brought you a type 10, you'd immediately send it back. He obviously hadn't experienced this before because they still released it. And if he did use it, 100% he didn't use the external camera views or headlook.

Still, frontier by their actions have earned some epic goodwill, especially considering planet coaster and hopefully jurassic world evo. If it doesn't change pretty damn perfect if you ask me.

Been here since Beta and just got combat Elite. New trading tools arriving just in time for me to look at trade Elite. Hopefully I'll be on to Exploration when the exploration drops at the end of the year :)

Also really happy to hear about the engine improvements and eventual new lighting system. Fingers crossed for better AA.

Sentiments shared, OP. In chapter one alone, I'll be set for some time. Engineers is going to become what I hoped it would. Hate RNG determining my effectiveness. Trading info is gonna be great. Galnet audio will be neat as heck, and those planets...yas. But the secret surprise attack of the Chieftan has gotten me very interested.

If the subsequent chapters are half as amazing for my taste, I'll probably drop my other games like Frontier dropped the Mic when they described Beyond. Quick, fast and in a hurry.

While I wouldnt trust frontier far as I could throw them, I am still cautiously optimistic...hard to diss something thats free unless yer just crying fer the fun of it. Its not a win fer me until its a reality and working as intended, but it is enough to keep me playing and planning ahead. Interesting year ahead and I have to say, Im pleasantly surprised the beta is out so soon...that is a good sign, long may it continue.

If they fix the beigification, Ill be happy enough...thats been my biggest gripe in the game ever and I quit fer 3 months because of it when it first appeared. It destroyed my motivation to explore and without exploration, the rest of the game just doesnt interest me...something one tolerates to make exploration easier, nothing more. And by the looks of it, engineers are something Ill continue to ignore because the changes dont go far enough...not gonna argue with anyone over it, was just waiting to see what the experts and pros came up with and...not much truth be told. Not enough to entice me Im afraid.

So all in all, beyond promises much lovin fer my chosen path in elite...how much will be a reality remains to be seen, but I wont diss them when its free. That would just be bad manners and that just wont do. Ill even rep the op cos theres just too much negativity on the forums and this is a breath of fresh air ^

Is it though.

I mean, waiting 4 years to have basic coop missions and 3 years for planets of more than one color and also optimized is another type of currency, time and trust.

Yes, I won't have to open my wallet when Beyond will be released in a few months, but I can't help but regret the years I've spent waiting and hoping this game to have basic coop missions/balance/variety, while getting butchered features I didn't really care for. And now that we're about to see these changes doesn't mean we have the assurance they'll be any better than all the previous rushed and half baked updates, eh.

The time spend waiting and hoping? Unless you really did sit behind the computer, staring at the screen hoping an update would come while doing nothing else, you didnt 'spend your time waiting'.

If anything, you spend your time moaning and whining. Which is fine, if you enjoyed your time. And if you did not, look in the morror. :)

I'm giving Kaocraft the point regardless, mostly because "trolling with optimism" was amusing and apt.

Personally, I've seen no reason to get too crazy showering Fdev with accolades for Beyond quite yet. Perhaps they'll deserve them when all is said and done.

Sure, its just a little dig at those dudes in the 'beyond is an epic failure!!!!' Topic. Most of us probably know beyond is just a series of free updates that will make a game we think is fun a bit better. :)

And what? Theres no game on the planet can give ye those assurances, so what are ye comparing it to? Yer own choice to sit on yer hands waiting, Go play something else like normal gamers do...Im waiting 18 months fer the fix to beigification and Ive spread my fair share of salt about it, and then some. But regret the time I waited...absolutely not.

Because during that time I also played mass effect andromeda, gears 4, doom, bulletstorm, deus ex and a sprinkling of GTA5. So as well as the salt...and a 76klys round trip of Sag A and the core that I just finished last night after an all nighter to make the last few klys to colonia.

I like to think of all that as having fun while Im waiting by finding something better to do that sit with a face on me like a lurgan spade throwing salt around here there and everywhere. Its not frontiers fault ye cant find a distraction so ye really cant blame them fer being bored and unhappy about the time ye spent waiting.

The future doesnt lie in the past...I suppose living in Belfast gives that statement a lot more meaning to me personally, but the logic works no matter who ye are or where ye hail from. If ye carry those regrets into the future, then yer just setting yerself up fer more pain and regret...technically known as a viscious cycle that only you can break.

No I dont trust frontier...but Im open minded enough to judge them after the deed, not before the deed. If they deliver even half what they hinted at, then its more than what we had before and as Im still playing and sorta enjoying, its a win win scenario fer me. I just need to be patient is all ^

As usual - the whiners trying their level best to slowly whittle down the nerves of the Developers. The other thread dissed me so much I had to create this one.
One Intention :THANK you FD for giving us ED. We love the game - and we trust in Braben. Beyond looks awesome - cant wait to try out the scrumptious new planets and the Wing Missions

Salud!

EDIT: Braben's name corrected (Oh the horror)!

Very happy Beta is coming early!

Anyone knows when will normal exploration tools that should have been here from the day 1 (like anomaly planet scanners or low altitude auto-pilot) be added? Or any exploration upgrades?

I agree with the OP, +1 rep.

I'm definitely not blind for the discrepancies in ED but in every update there was more or less something that made the game better to my enjoyment.
With what's been announced so far regarding Beyond I think it's gonna be a great addition to ED.
The improved planet textures alone make Q1 to a succes to me already, then there's the Chieftain and who knows what goodies on top.

I agree.
Frontier, stop improving the game immediately.
