Passenger Missions (pls dont nerf)

People wouldn't use things like Smeaton, Rhea, or Quince if payouts actually scaled with rank. The fact is that most missions barely let you pay for rebuy at the end game.

None of the missions come anywhere NEAR helping me pay off my conda type 10 or corvette ... with each one being at 30ish mil ( i actually think the conda is the most expensive one at like 35) ... Honestly i think a good fix for the passanger missions would be to up the price on the long distance ones without being stupid ... i saw one that was paying like 56 mil (which you cant take ANYWAY because its over 50mil) but it was 27k Lys out ... i could make that 56mil in like 2 days if i grinded the out of haz rez sites. the passenger missions just need some tweeking.

I posted an idea not to far back about how they should NOT nurf the payout ... but instead have ACTUAL pirates attack you during flight ... not this stupid one ship that i can easily run away from crap ... im talking a wing (or more) of ships all aimed at you... Make passenger missions like wing missions... where you have 2 or 3 wingmates guarding you ... and you have like 4-8 pirates jump in on you at once. THAT would be a blast and would make the payout/time/effort worth it imo.
 
I held out hope that they would simply be re balanced, bring other missions up to a decent standard and slightly nerf payouts on passenger runs.

But this is FDev we are talking about, they didn't nerf it they hit it with a sledgehammer, as usual it's nerfed to utter worthlessness. What's the point, FDev doesn't fix, they just nerf and nerf and nerf.

No re balancing, no fixes, just nerfs.

It's time to uninstall for the last time. you FDev.

I have to agree with this. 200,000 credits for a Smeaton Orbital run is utterly insane! Why would I do that? They just didn't take a sledgehammer to it, they took Thor's hammer to it!
 
There was a brand new player who mentioned last week he got to an anaconda in five days (120 hours) doing ceos/sothis or whatever was the system(s) of the current quick cash, and there have been plenty of posts by those who boasted 200mil/hour with passenger missions in the forum within the past half year. Whatever, sounds like folks brought the nerf down upon themselves.

Not a big deal for me, to be honest - this game is full of ways to make really good money for those who are willing to pay attention, and learn how things work.

nah, imo he used the ceo/sothis irregularity early on and learned about it from the folks boasting about making #/mil an hour which was the point of my post. i.e. sounds like folks brought this recent nerf down upon themselves by being so public about it. And the anaconda is a big three ship (until the panther clipper), considering the scope of the game, I'd think 400 hours minimum from a beginning start. In comparison it took me almost a year and over 1k hours, to get my cutter, first clipper in three months with lost rebuy lesson/had to start over, and exploring the game in cobra mk3 & aspx, even though I'd heard about ceo/sothis ( and never visited) and all the other xploits which were still existing then since 2.0

I quite like the idea of tweaking bulk passenger missions so they pay a bit more than other missions, but the pirates are harder. Variety is after all, the spice of life. My hesitation to +1'ing this is these here forums. As the point of bulk passenger missions is to maximise cabin ultility with the maximum number of jobs that reward in the axis you wish (hey I have done them for quick rep before), this means stacking missions. I remember the outcry when people first started stacking 10+ missions and got blown up by the ships sent after them. Salty. Not sure I could cope with anymore negativety on the forums, so I will default to "in line with risk/reward" of other bulk freight missions.

Is it true that in Beta you won't be able to fill a ship, as you can't stack passengers any more?


Surely passenger stacking is how real ships and planes work!!!!

Also heard through insider gossip that everyone who abused the system is gonna have their CR balance adjusted so the gains are in line with the new payouts. oh the salt shall run, well be exporting it at this rate.

If they did that, that would basically stop me playing... on all three of my accounts.

I made billions out of Smeaton, so I could play the game and not be limited by cash. If I had to credit grind all over again... well... :S
 
To late smeaton is dead. All the guant cry babies won. Spent the last hour going to all my normal spots for passengers and the highest payiut i could find was 465,000cr. I'm not doing a 40min run for the same cr i can get for doing a 1 hop 200ls run. They nerfed it to the stone ages because of all the babies.

Instead of fixing board hopping they just nerfed the payout. Thats .

Ok. So I've gone and had a smoke and a drink lol. Ok so i may have over done it a little. Sorry guys and girls. Just annoyed at knee jerk reaction of going in complete opposite direction and making time and distance irrelevant.

It was never an exploit... They [FDev] said themselves that the passengers missions were working as intended and the payouts as intended.

The only reason this is being done now is because of the whiners.

I challenge anyone in FDev to give me a passable reason as to why now and what it accomplishes.

And; Anyone who wanted, already has billions, so the only ones that are going to hurt from this are the new players.

Cost of rebuy is the insurance premium. Not buying a new ship cost. Or plane in your explanation.

They didn't kill them, they took them offline to figure out how to solve this.

If they could just roll out board fixes what Dom described it would be awesome, don't change much, just disable board flipping.

I personally don't mind solid missions paying a lot. 150 - 200m/hour with almost telegraphed precision feels way too much though.
