If you cannot play because your character is a ball of light :S fear not. In order to fix it, you maybe lucky enough to have your account reset.

see what I mean? Even customer support and developers of CiG refer to Star Citizen as a "game" and for people to "play" it rather then pointing out that its in early alpha and people are supposed to "test" it

Losing progress in an alpha is nothing new so I wouldnt complain about it but obviously this happens due to an issue caused by code at least I m not aware that the backer himself is at fault for turning his avatar into a ball of light. The use of "one-time courtesy" and its implication is so insolent it makes me draw up a sharp breath in response. Oh my god wait...let me clear the ground real quick so I can fall on my knees and praise CiG for taking care of a problem that THEY caused. This single line would make me rate their customer serice a scathing NEGATIVE 1 star and add some personal thoughts of mine as to their treatment rules regarding backers who pay for their bills.....

Does "As a one time courtesy" mean just that. Will they charge to reset an account in the future?

Lol. As a one time courtesy, we're gonna fix our bug by resetting all your progress. But remember, we're doing this out of the kindness of our hearts, not because the game experience we sold you is totally bugged. Buy an Idris on the way out.

Yeah that's amazing.

WHY THANK YOU SO MUCH for graciously fixing your buggy-donkey game for me ONCE so I can do all this 'testing' for you. I'd be steaming if I got that email.

A one time courtesy, to reset an account, in a game in pre-pre-pre-alpha, that needs absolutely every component tested, reworked, tested, sent for acceptance testing and integration and then implementation? Problems managing user accounts and having to "wait" on backend database work?

What utter lulzbucketry.

They should be thanking this tester for this valuable feedback and looking at how their backend services utterly fail to perform their required functions and asking all their testers request a account reset just to test the failover redundancy and emergency case resilience of their Excel spreadsheet.

I bet Chris is more of a Lotus 1-2-3 guy.

So they reset the account and wipe your cash....why can't they just credit your account for the same amount after the wipe? The same for any other progress I assume, it's all stored in database and a table.

Out of interest, has anyone attempted to use something like Cheat Engine to modify their balance? I assume they haven't got to the point where cash actually matters at all.

Sir, I am an Englishman, so genetically I cannot cheat. :)

Databases and Tables are scheduled for 3.1 - they've not invented them or worked out a pipeline yet.

Is really rather odd though. Makes you wonder what they are doing with that data?

Also, is there betting pool on who'll get their 3.1 out sooner?

Well, I'm willing to bet cash that FD release a fix for at least some apparent 3.0 issues in the next few days.

I expect CIG's 3.1 amid much fanfare, ship concept sales, and livestreams that punch far above their weight sometime around the anniversary of the release that wasn't :D
