Remote Engineering Is Useless

I don't know... pinning the 'increased FSD range' blueprint would be useful, as you can do that immediately to any ship you buy, without having to get it out to the Engineer first (flown or delivered).

The only issue there is all modules now have 'special effects' so you'd get the jump range increase which is the main reason to get it but would miss out on the special effect and have to go to the engineer to get it anyway. So...it's not totally useless but it's not totally useful either....

It means you can work on getting the actual upgrades first. I know it would've been useful if I could've gotten my Anaconda with that grade 5 FSD range increase first before I could make that trip to the other engineers instead of having it shipped close to Felicity Farseer.

Still, if we can do the experimental effects away from an engineer I'd be happy as well.

Nah man, you pin a blueprint like "Increased FSD Range". Then from any outfitting station you can engineer any fsd module from g1 to g5 without going back to them.

If that is the way it works then the pinned blueprints will be useful in 3.0. If you really can just pin a single grade of a blueprint then they will be mostly worthless.

We'll know tomorrow how it really works, and what the answer to this question is.

^^ This is correct. IF you get the G5 blueprint.

Guys, of course that's the way it works....

people need to engage grey matter. LOL.

Pin a G5 FSD then you have to rank that drive up through G1-4 first, so of course you can choose any level you want...

Personally, I'd prefer it if pinning a G5 FSD meant that it would upgrade directly to G5... LOL... but that's not going to happen.

If that's true then yeah it's actually useful and a pretty good option to have. But I'm not convinced that this is the case.

I find these threads funny, because they are completely useless.

Seeing people, grown ups (or... are they really?) spending so much negative energy, theorizing, about a system they have not yet tested, and making up, in their mind, that it is the worst thing that ever could have been delivered...

Yes... I can see some points here and there... however, this is why there is a BETA period for this stuff.

Instead of starting all these meaningless threads that is based on PURE speculation.... maybe spend your time on recharging your energy, and do the BETA?

Before you actually know what this new system entails, can't you just shut your mouths and at least test things out? Really?

*facepalm*

Unless this is your first and only post about anything having to do with 3.0 or the Beyond updates: your scolding, derailing, whinge of a post is way more pathetic than anything made by those who have actually engaged with the topic, and hypocritical to boot.

People are excitedly speculating about a thing that you don't know or care about. Get over it.

Definitely not universally useful, and possibly very harmful to expectations if used without care. Only objectively useful when:

- Grade 5 modules where you'll never have to go back to visit.
- The second time through with another module or ship for a fully unlocked engineer where you don't need to collect the engineer rep.

Actually useful is pushing it id more consider it a bonus.

This is now going to be fixed on Beta 2.0. Thanks everyone who contributed to the discussion.

You were right, btw, OP, and I was really disappointed when I found out, first hand, that blueprint pins allowed only one grade.

I'm really happy that they've fixed it.

Yeah, it's really great they changed their minds. Though I am still concerned we cannot apply experimental effects at a distance, especially now that all modules are going to have them. But I imagine remote engineering will have its uses, I don't know. :)

Much as I take issue with many facets of Engineering...props for remote Engineering. This needed to happen.

Now they need to find a way for us to do it for more than the one pinned BP...
