Is this another "game is dead" thread?
Seems like it. Never realised there are so many unhappy people playing space games.
Is this another "game is dead" thread?
I think the problem for FD in that regard is the trust is gone for many.
I wouldn't give FD a penny for a new game until I'd seen proof that it isn't another mile wide, inch deep grindathon.
They certainly would be ill advised to rely on another kickstarter, they burnt that bridge and parts of the surrounding area with the last one (I won't kickstart any games anymore due to my disappointment with ED).
I believe you did like the expectations you had for the game at 1.0, not the actual game. 3.0 is hardly worse than 1.0.
Anyway, my post wasn't really directed at you personally, more of a general statment. For example I don't believe that you are sad the game isn't Eve
Should've made that clear.
Could you explain what specifically got destroyed for you personally by 2.1? I am not a mind reader and since 100 Elite players have 200 different views on the game it's not easy to know what your specific problem with the game is.
....
I'm certainly not grinding some inane stuff out to just get where I was already before 2.1 went live.
For
Every
Single
Ship
And it looks like it's gonna be even worse: For every single sodden module on every single sodden ship.
What's the point of flying different ships anymore? I'd never get to upgrade them reasonably anyway. What's the point of trying different weapons? I'd never get to upgrade them reasonably anyway.

Nothing there is representative of anything. Elite Dangerous has no comparative at present. *if* SC was ever to actually launch, I'd bet a lot of players would leave. That being said, Elite Dangerous is a graphical work of art. Especially in VR.
How-ever, that's where it all ends. The rest is garbage. Trading has been done before, exploring has been done before, engineers, has been done before, and in the main, FDev's implementations are sub-standard, without interest, and randomised to hell and back.
Every thing gets boring very fast.
How-ever, there are some who like the slow pace, do it as my beard grows type thing, while others want faster action or faster results. And the problem is that there is just no road map, and no project milestones.
All we ever hear is 'soon', 'in the works', maybe Q4. Judging by the Horizons, which was 'supposed' to be a year type project, we just never know with FDev. And whatever we do get, will be disjointed and full of bugs. And worse, with every live-stream, it appears they don't even play their own game!
I doubt it's an exit strategy, they're milking too many commanders of pounds a week on paint jobs and tossing them the odd doggy-bone of ideas to make things better. And we have many many commanders lapping it all up.
And that's perfectly fine. Your money, your choice. And that's all that matters.
Spot on. They literally just reskinned the 1984 game in HD. Complete with all the technical limitations and bare bones Mechanics fully intact.
Yes, literally. Who can forget the multiple ships in Elite, the in-depth ship customization, the BGS, the sprawling galaxy, the planetary landings, the 6D flight model, multiplayer gameplay and all that. I remember driving my SRV into the sunset in the original, towards an alien base where I could enter if I brought the correct alien artifacts. Man, that game was amazing. Shame they just re-skinned. Literally.
I think you literally never played the game, literally intentionally talk crap or literally suffer from amnesia. Like, literally.
This gave me a good chuckle.
Heh, I have to admit when it comes to hyperbole and the misuse of the word 'literally' I tend to respond literally like Hitler.![]()

There are plenty of posts you must have read on the subject and I haven't time to go over it just now.
However, it is interesting that the way you play allows you to ignore them. I achieved the same by going out exploring and as there was no one around I flew in Solo. I am happy with that to be honest because I like exploring.
How do you avoid them?

And it's always weird to me when people prop up Frontier's performance statements as evidence that *Elite* is doing great. "Hey look Frontier is thriving!" Ok great. That's good. But for all we know they could be thriving precisely because they aren't wasting money on developing Elite any further. Frontier =/= Elite, Elite =/= Frontier.
I'm not going to make any claims one way or another, but it's worth recognizing that there's nothing in these reports which necessarily contradict the "Elite is being phased out" meme.
