The need to grind is aided and abetted by FD. If you participate in a CG, you are rewarded by how high the total of the CG goal gets and placing in upper percentage player rank.
If you were to do it w/o re-log, well, the results are obvious.
PP is a time sink, I stopped playing mainly due to merit decay, which is meant to be a way of keeping you in PP to reap the "rewards" but had the totally opposite effect on me. I don't like to lose what I worked for again and again. Sisyphus comes to mind.
Engineering at least gives you permanent results that are "rewarding", but unless you were lucky rolling, the ultimate "rewards" were kept out reach, so you made due w/ good enough (except for the cheaters).
With the new engineering, we're back to before engineers were created, modules for everyone with fixed top values w/ experimental effects added but w/ grind. Why not give us set, no-grind modules back and just work for the experimental effects?
The grind is integral to game play on purpose, sure, you can opt out and be selective, but even that seems like you're adjusting to the symptoms, but the cause is not addressed.
