Some ideas on getting the most out of the upcoming content

I've never quite understood that. Why couldn't they return, by the same route that they entered?

The only way into M67 was via a neutron jump from Outotch SA-U d4-0.

The neutron jump allows you to reach AH Cancri.

From AH Cancri you need a J3 Jumponium jump to get into the M67 cluster. But there are no neutron stars in AH Cancri to make the return trip.

FD did create the Anaconda's Graveyard POI in recognition of the pilots who hit self destruct up in that cluster.

The Anaconda's Graveyard is the final resting place of the Distant Stars Expedition 3303.

The only problem is if you want to visit it, you have to die afterwards to come home :D

(or go there in beta ;))

With all the CGs, it looks like I'll be bringing my Anaconda this time.

That sounds like something I should definitely go visit! :O

It was pretty awesome up there on the Distant Stars trip. I wish there were a lot more areas of out of the way star clusters like that in the Elite galaxy. I search the fringes and find very small clusters now and then, but nothing like that.

Another use for the neutron supercharge capacitor!

what is this double supercharge?
It used to be possible to get two supercharges from a single neutron star, by engaging hyperdrive in the neutron jet cone. The boost is used when the fuel is consumed, which is at the start of the countdown; it wasn’t trivial, but if you timed it right you could supercharge again before you jumped away. Then you would arrive at your destination supercharged, enabling you to make the return trip. If you failed, there was no way back, so it wasn’t without risk.

Sadly it was nerfed in 2.4; it was an unintended feature, but a very cool one that many explorers would like to see back on a legitimate basis. It was used to get to - and back from - all manner of cool places. As an example, here’s the jump to Vahsel Point:

Last time me and a couple of others found DWE to go way to slow.. the fun parts where just the meetups and the meetups along the road.
but if you'r someone who playes 4h+ a week day... should we take some strange detours this time?

last time we just went back to the bubble multible times because it wasnt going fast enough for us.
(+Anaconda paintjobs finally came out back then after we hit SagA.)

btw did DWE really took 6months before the last person arrived?

Some stragglers arrived even long after that, often due to RL reasons requiring them to put ED on the back burner.

Since I'm a german commander I started to work on a translation for the german Community Forum. ;)

Progress is slow tho, since I have to make up new terms for some cool stuff like "Deep Core Blasting"
Many german equivalents sound boring or just weird so I'm rearranging stuff: "New tools to mine asteroids - up to their utter and complete destruction"

Awesome - thanks Lord_aNOOBis. Let me know when the German version is posted, and I'll link it on the main post of this thread :)

Would it be an idea for the return trip to split up as it arrives back around the core? one part back to the bubble the other to Colonia?

Its possible. I guess there will be quite a few Colonials taking part who would prefer not having to return to the bubble to complete DW2. So yes - its something we can add to the Journey Home itinerary. [up]

I just arrived at Colonia and heard about this event halfway there, since I'm not that far away form the core I thought I could do some pre-scouting operations for the bubble-Sag A* route on my return trip to the bubble. But I need to get an idea of what exactly I should be looking for and roughly where. Can you help me out? Thanks :)
