Poe's law is alive and well.
Thank you. I think I hurt myself, trying to laugh and groan at the same time.![]()
Should have recorded it and sent it over to Frontier. they are going to need a deceleration sound for Krait.
Can we have a moment of silence for my first Seamoth, Nemo? It heroically sacrificed itself to save me from a Reaper Leviathan I didn't realize was there, while building one of my Ring Two Sensor bases. 400 meters down.
Had a very tense few minutes after scrambling inside, listening to that thing first tear apart poor Nemo, then thrash itself against the sensor base itself, power provided by the single fish I brought to start up the power. Then I powered up the sensors to discover there were three of them, and I was near the bottom of crater. Debated on whether to swim for the surface first or make a beeline for the nearest sensor base.
I decided on the latter.
Turns out my spacing is just close enough to get there on a single heavy duty tank of air.

Now I'm the one laughing and groaning at the same time
Nice moooshache.![]()
Agreed.
Subnautica has always intrigued me. If I'd have had some spare cash during last weekend's Steam sale I would have bought it... another time.
Typical.
After:
- ten weeks of having to break limestone chunks to get the copper I need to build my sensor bases, in the hopes of finding some mineable nodes
- building 85% of the bases I need for full surface coverage
- having risked death by Reaper Leviathan multiple times
I finally hit the copper jackpot. There's enough copper nodes here to build the three remaining sensor bases, plus nine more besides. I'm also reading deposits of gold, silver, titanium, lead, and lithium here. Looks like Crush and Dr. Sherman will finally have something to do tonight!
Crush is your prawnsuit, I suppose, but I really hope you didn't name your cuddlefish Dr. Sherman.![]()
No, Crush is my Cyclops submarine. Dr. Sherman (DDS) is my Prawnsuit.![]()
My Cyclops was SeaQuest DSV.
Don't think anyone probably remembers that show, lol.
I do. Hopefully, you named your Seamoth Darwin.![]()
My Cyclops is called "Adventurer" and my prawn suit's name is Dave.
And yes, I remember SeaQuest, too.![]()
I do. Hopefully, you named your Seamoth Darwin.![]()
I named my Prawn suit something Battletech.... don't remember. Mad Cat? I dunno. It was a mech so I gave it a mech name.![]()
It took quite a few game sessions, but I've successfully created a forward base 900 meters down. Unlike my starter base, it's got a lot more glass (which requires a lot of reinforcement) to take in the sight of what I like to call the "Ghost Tree." It's also rather vertical, so I can dock Dory (my Seamoth) at the top, while still having a place to dock Dr. Sherman (my PRAWN suit) at the bottom. With two geothermal powerplants and a nuclear powerplant providing power, it's got power to spare. Two water filtration systems provide plenty of water, and an alien containment tank and two farms provide a decent variety of foods. Lockers are filled with a variety of resources with which to build things.
I am now about where I was when my last hardcore save died while installing a geothermal power plant, and I got here in half the time. I'm going to set up some Sensor bases in the general area to see if there is anything I missed while doing my initial survey of the area. Then, it's time to dive even deeper, where my Seamoth cannot go.
Oh, and I discovered that a pair of grappling arms can really increase the speed of travel with a PRAWN suit. Just shoot a line at the ground ahead of you, and it pulls you right along. You can even swing along the ceiling, Spiderman style.![]()
