Skimmers have been "fixed" from what I hear so on to the next thing for the forum warriors.
Exploits are boring and they twist perception about game into something it's not

So much this.... the forum warriors will always wage war..... no matter what it is!
Oh goody another thread broadly saying how we should all play ED in the exact same manner, find our enjoyment in the exact same manner, and that the game should be made ever yet more tiresome and difficult to progress in because 'reasons', and if you disagree with this then you 'don't understand' the game. Right. 'Jog on' mate.
I don't care how much in-game money someone else has, nor how they got it, nor what they choose to do with it, nor how they then choose to get their enjoyment, and I don't understand those who seem to care.

I'm willing to bet that plenty of people using money making schemes have got considerably more time playing this game then you do. I've got around 3500 hours, and if I use one, where does that leave your theory?
In a week I will have my 10bil credits and maxed out grade 5 engineer mats so my ship can be maxed out god modded and min maxed for ganks.
Having enough money to be able to murder anything that moves without worrying about any consequences. Hope it clarifies your confusion.
The problem with HAS REZes is that a conda gives you like 200-300 thousand. 2-3 skimmers gives you 400 thousand. and 10-12 skimmers give you 8,000,000.
If I can make 100 mil + an hour with skimmers why should I bounty hunter for 2-3 mil an hour? The problem is without exploits it is unnecessarily difficult to get big ships
Before I started I got up to a vulture only to see that my next option was a python/FDL at 100 mil+ to outfit without farming rank. I farmed fed rank up to rank 5 and guess what? The ships where still super expensive compared to the vulture when you are bounty hunting.
So I come back to the game when the alliance chieftain came out cause that fixed the gap. Instead of farming away in a HAS REZ I tried skimmer missions. Now I am in an A Chieftain with eyes on a corvette.
My endgame goal is probably to become a fuel rat but I don't see why not get all the ships? The fun part of elite for me isn't mindlessly killing NPCs and I don't want to spend 400 hours doing that to get my corvette.

Frontier can't tell me how to play the game. All they can do is provide the environment and opportunities for me to play how I see fit.

Quite true, but I didn't claim they could. If they were to nerf these skimmer missions to oblivion you could still play them.
My point was, if Frontier were to nerf these missions, they do so because they consider them too overpayed. Not because some random people on a forum thinks they are.
Well to counter that most people wouldn't know about it if not for the forum so then wouldn't be flagged by FDEV because everyone and his dog has being doing them. Loose lips and all that.

Your Idea of control is an illusion, you do something you can only do it because they programmed it that way for you to do. And sure, sometimes certain things have sideeffects that where not intended but when you can keep on doing those thing then only because they let you keep on doing that.
FD is full on in charge here, like every gamedeveloper.
It is chicken and egg issue though. If it weren't popular FD wouldn't now it and lot of people wouldn't engage in such exploit. But it was popular, players engaged with it, and FD fixed it.
They sure do. It all boils down to how much illusion of freedom they can give me. Overall though they control game.
If they don't see eye to eye with you about how you see it 'fit' then they will tweak and change game accordingly to mitigate that.
To say "blame" would mean I actually cared about it because I did them or wanted to , neither of which is true. I imagine it would all fall down to how exactly the video/post was structured by Mr.Yamicks.

That's a very fair point, and in typical FDEV style they've brilliantly managed to avoid the obvious solution of making fines a percentage of your total worth.
I sometimes find myself very confused by FDev and think they how.
I'm one myself so I shall nuance away.
While i do agree with that, it will not stop one random group of people to blame the other random group of people the day FD corrects the payout...of course it won't.
Far more interesting question is, how come that these things keep happening ?
How much (or little) control does FD actually have over their own game when it can keep blindsiding and surprise them like this time and time again ?
And not only with regard to payouts and credit goldmines (i'm not sure "exploit" is the correct term for many of these things).
It's like that BGS sometimes has a mind if it's own and doesn't care what FD tries to make it do, and what not.
And i don't consider that a good thing.
