Possibly advertising on the screens as you're entering the stations? Maybe in stations? Wouldn't bother me. I don't really pay attention to them.

Nothing has the potential to turn me off this game more than if what that hints at comes to pass. I may just fly my **** up close to the first grotesque advertising hoard I see and self-destruct it.

It's an EULA which is a legal document. In there Frontier describes how Elite Dangerous and other products relates to legal matters. It is in no way a design document and I seriously doubt that Frontier would destroy the game be introducing in game advertising that goes against the overall SciFi setting of the game.

However, if I owned stock in FDEV and they started to limit their future earning possibilities in their legal documents, I would demand some answers from their legal department (have they got one?)

So, no worries I say.

Advertising isn't something I want to see in a game I've paid for. I'd object to being drilled with coke adverts as I docked. :( It'd be a little bit in yer face sort of thing.

Although I did do a bit of a parody of what it might represent.

iam not against advertising as it might raise funds for the developer but iam just curious how the advertising will be handled in the game.
As long its passive advertisement iam fine whit it but if its gona be aggressive ,like pop ups ,,,,,,

If they want to put in ads for the paint jobs for the ships you can buy in the store (which I imagine they would like too) this kind of text needs to be in there anyway.

So it might just be that. However, I have no issues with some mild form of third party ads as long as they are done in a way that feels coherent with the gameworld.

I guess you have noticed those huge billboards both outside the stations and down inside the hangars? ;)

This is hilarious. I don't pay attention to the fake ads they have there and would likely not pay attention to real ads

Haha.. awesome. I could see advertising everywhere in a future setting. I'm sure a few here have seen Blade Runner.

Maybe we can turn in our Vouchers for some real coupons at our local grocery store. In US it wud be Wallmart il guess :D

This has been in the EULA since Alpha 1 and there is already a massive thread on the subject somewhere.

Similar legal snippets concerning the possibility of "in game advertising" can be found in other games and Frontier's Roller Coaster tycoon had it in the EULA yet I've yet to see the McDonalds world version of that game materialise.

I seem to remember someone from Frontier did say that they had no plans for it currently, but the option would be kept open and if they did do it - it would need to be tasteful and fit in with the game.

I guess if you don't like it, don't use it.

Aha oki. Thought it was new to the EULA.
I never tend to read those anyway :p

And sorry for not searching the forums before I started a new topic ( thought it was some new thing)
