I've just been following the conversation this morning over coffee, but to be perfectly honest you seem to be the least reasonable person on the last few pages. Your posts have been personal and kind of mean spirited from what I've read. A case in point would be your point about me, which is indicative of most of your posts; I was minding my own business sleeping, yet you drag me into this discussion with an insult.

I think Hellakitty made a pretty accurate assessment a few pages back.

I find it amusing how whenever threads like these appear, the most reasonable, balanced and sane posts are just about exclusively from the PvP folks, especially the more 'infamous' ones.

While the PvE advocates generally are the late-stage rabid, hyperbolic and highly unreasonable ones.

Amusing and frustrating in equal measure.. Shame it stifles reasonable, constructive and productive discussion and reduces it to mud slinging.. sometimes I wonder if that is the intention.

And this is why i dont play on OPEN EVER i am not interested of grinding rebuy cost on my ships (15-35mill a piece) with the current economy (MISSION and bounty pay is way too low).

If i could easily cover the rebuy cost maybe then i would particibate in Open.

Thats OK if you perceive Elite as an "Arcade-type" game...a spiritual descendant of say "Defender...
What if you perceive Elite as a "Space Combat Game"...a spiritual descendant of say X-Wing or Tie Fighter...or even a "Combat Flight Sim in Space" in those genres you'd never encounter Combat for no reason other than 'amusement" would you?

Pretty much this.

The few complaints I've seen so far about ATR is that they're so unfair because they can actually kill you. People have been killed running salvage missions where engineered NPC's spawn. There's threads complaining about that.

Exclusively doing PvE combat makes you lazy, you forget the need for situational awareness, you forget the need for pip management. You also get forgiven for making basic errors in your flying technique.

It looks like the PVP containment subforum has sprung a leak, now all the upset over people clicking the menu in the "wrong" way is blending with the "I grind so much it hurts" and "I shot the wrong thing and resent the repercussions of my actions" shrieking that currently dominate dangerous discussion.

I dread to think what sort of hideous mutant forum meta will be spawned in this melting pot.
