Patch Notes Update Update 3.0.3

So let's review:

The "patch" has:

1) promised to let you pay off PP bounties at Interstellar Factions for now...but the option isn't even working.
2) supposedly made it so skimmers will only spawn when you take your SRV out.. but no one has found any skimmer missions anywhere to try as of this writing.
3) Made it so that a 200 cr bounty bans you from Galaxy wide outfitting.
4) as pointed out by our friend Qbit and others.. a galaxy wide bounty has completely taken jurisdiction crimes out of the game. Why should the Empire care if a "crime" for hitting a cop in Federation space happens? They would be cheering in a real world scenario, not punishing a player for doing something in another power's realm. For that matter.. if we dont even bring PP into it, since I know that's the black sheep with FDev and a portion of its player base, why should an Imperial BGS faction care if you committed a speeding violation in a federal BGS system?
5) As pointed out by our members at Federal United COmmand Discord.. you're better off playing solo missions then Wing Mission.. As Frontier has again used the nerf hammer to make it worthless to do wing missions.

This might be up there as one of the worst patches released by Frontier.

Hello everyone,

We are taking the galaxy servers down now for the 3.0.3 update which will bring improvements and correct various issues on all platforms. We do not have an estimated time when the servers will be back online but we'll communicate here and on our social media channels when they are. See the changelog below.

Not only are we bringing numerous fixes to bugs and crashes, but also an improvement to gameplay mechanics, as detailed below by lead designer, Sandro Sammarco.

Man is this getting old.

Clicked the "UPGRADE" button at 3:45 local time and at 4:01 Local time got an error "EXCEPTION DURING MANIFEST DOWNLOAD" and the launcher locked up.

Restart computer and now at 4:12 local time clicking "UPGRADE" again.

Ok,, 4:47 local time. I finally have a play button again. Still a PITA but it looks like my binding and my graphics override are still there.

Hi everyone,

Thank you for your feedback about the outfitting lock. We understand your frustrations, and we're currently looking in to what are options are available in order for us to rectify this.

Thanks again, we'll share more information as soon we've got it.

Fines: anonymous protocol not required. Can't redeem any money from station contacts without it being deducted from the total. Reinstate time limits that turn unpaid fines into bounties.

Bounties: can either bribe for docking clearance and be given a time limit for docking after which you are arrested.
Or use the new station scan plus hacking limpet to get normal docking clearance. Cool glitch hud effects in this mode.
In either case, no more locking out services. Switching ships also shouldnt change anything- this isnt GTA where you can just paint the ship and

Thanks FD. Despite me ranting now and then :D ... I of course appreciate your work :)

Glad to see you stopped the ranking exploit.
Sincerely, King Admiral Commander Eloy :D :p

(I wouldn´t even mind you setting me back to Duke and whatever Federal rank [where is it])

Skimmers only spawn when you are in an SRV
Having just played the game, I can report that this is UNtrue. Skimmers are still quite happy to spawn if you poke your ship's nose where it isn't wanted.

EDIT: At least for Salvage missions.

I hope

  • Balance pass on wing delivery and collect missions

Means that the board is no longer full of wing missions and us dedicated solo players can get a reasonable selection of solo missions again that don't pay peanuts.
You do realize that you can still take those wing missions in solo mode? I've completed several of the cargo delivery ones on my own in solo mode. They're really not that tough if you have enough cargo space (my T-9 carries 512 tons), and they pay pretty decent. I just look for the ones that I can get done in 3 or 4 runs and scan the missions for data deliveries going to the same locations to really cash in. Give it a shot.

Y'all just couldn't stand it. You had to nerf skimmer missions... I agree a ship should trigger a trespass. But, requiring the presence of an SRV to spawn skimmers?! SMH. That doesn't make any sense from a sim point of view. The only way that makes sense is from a corporate overlord point of view. In other words... NO FUN! Play the game as the over lords intend, OR ELSE. So dumb.

Have you tried *not* using the turret mode?
It points where the vehicle does and will even auto-acquire targets in your FOV.

Yep, yep, yep...
Set up VA to control the throttle and change/lock targets.
I use a CP-48 Keyboard to control direction but you can remap the the joystick YAW axis to do that.
Scout the path first.
Pull up close to the perimeter.
Set direction to REVERSE.
Crank in about 3-4 engine power
I set pips 3.5 shields, .5 engines, everything else to weapons.
I can usually waste 2 of them before they even start to return fire.
Release the brake and back away.
If shields start to get thin or weapons get low, increase speed.
Usually someplace around 1.5K they stop chasing you.
Let everything recharge and start a slow (2) advance and lock and shoot as they become visible. If you are using top grade ammo and moving slow so the auto tracking can stay on target, you can do them damage at ranges (200 m) where your shields can take everything they shoot.

Real happy to hear that Chieftain is now a viable pvp option.

Save for the fact that the interdiction targeting is STILL broken as it has been since the very first beta. Reported in every version of beta and every release since - seems clear no one at Frontier has actually flown it yet. How does such a simple bug continue for this long on a brand new ship? Then again I suppose "Leaving Wing" and NPCs on your pad have been with us for 2+ and 1+ years already...

*chuckle

Let me tell you a little story.

I live in Georgia. Last time I went to renew my driver's license I was selected for a random background check, then denied a license.

Seems New York State has an open warrant for someone with my same name and Birthdate for some minor drug offense.

I had to contact them and provide proof that I was not the individual they were seeking before they would notify Georgia that I was not the person on their 'He can't have a license because we are looking for him' list.

I was told 'carry that letter with you, always.'

So, yeah...
Hmm, interesting but I think it's worth it to keep the jurisdictions how they were. There's just too many issues across too many lines. Outfitting should certainly be similar to the rest of anonymous access. FD can do what they want to balance hot modules vs ships, just put outfitting with anonymous.

This sounds pretty good, though I think the simpler version where fines don't change into bounties or decay or anything, we've had enough discussion to know to keep it simple. And the hot ship concept I would keep. A bribe or hack being found out (how...space-legs?) could impound a hot ship, that would be cool. Gotta be able to launch a clean ship though, period.

Actually it makes more sense. Skimmers are pathetic compared to the smallest ship-borne weapons and shields, if there's a software upgrade that tells them not to throw themselves at essentially invulnerable enemies, that makes sense.

So I'm in Rhea where I was quite happy doing passenger missions before 3.0. It's not like I was making crazy money, but it was enough to make it feel worth my while. If the new patch was supposed to boost the payout for bulk passenger missions I'd like to know by how much because they look the same to me.

To whom it may concern. Specifically FDEV. You get upset when the community question if you all actually play the game you developing. Now don’t get me wrong I love elite dangerous. But frankly the last few month I am even questioning how much you all spend running missions. With the last war update you have dang near killed wing missions. Firstly making them spawn less and 2nd offing 7000 tons for 5 mil in a boom states? What? Seriously! I can make the same with the solo mission right below it delivering 120 tons for 7 mil! The wing missions actually bring the community together and increases the social aspect of the game, Nerfing something people enjoy doing makes absolutely no since!

Since 3.0.3. i got no rank up missions. I have 100 % reputation and did several follow on missions. But unfortunately none of them was a rank up mission (despite board hopping).

Check what the amounts / passenger are.

I did some testing in a system that is sending passengers to a station 121 k/ls from star. For those with friendly/allied rep with the faction(s), the payouts appear to be: 58/59K a passenger for economy bulk, 148K / passenger for business, and up to 295K/passenger for first class.
