This game just isn't worth playing at the moment

If FDev actually figured out what seems to be the most complicated task in the universe (pun intended), i.e. making missions actually scale and provide adequate rewards and making the frickin mission boards be populated with lots of missions so players actually have a chance to do what they want to in this sandbox... then it would go a long way to solving this games problems.

Been holding my breath for three years on this one though.

Er, win what? :D

I occasionally wish i could take people like this back to release 1.0 when 6 million/hr was considered a gold rush, just to show them how much the game has improved over the ages. If you still find elite unplayably grindy after all this time, sorry but this game might not be for you.

Yeah, back then I didn't have to grind elusive mats to be able to take down stupid bulletsponged AI. Gimme back that anytime and screw the whole power creep turd.

Play to win :)

Yeah - but for what?

Is there any exclusive content for triple-elites? Or for fully-engineered corvettes? Does the Backgroundsim care if your ship is engineered? Is there anything to achieve besides triple-elite?
What are we doing here? Blazing our own trail? Yes - we do - but after a couple of years even that kind of motivation is sucked up and more and more players are putting their HOTAS aside and wait for something to play with. And it is pretty clear that we don´t see anything regarding "End-Game" in 2018. We just see actual mechanics being refactored, yes they may and they will become better, but in my opinion it will be nothing for the existing community (or lets say veterans).

So I will not put my hotas aside. I am just using it for X-Plane at the moment :)

payouts need cut by 90% accross the board, that would make the game feel more rewarding... not just cash payouts but, the extra stuff you get, you hsouldnt get more then 1 + for any mission half for most... and anything over 8-10k a mission is way higher then 'vets' got.. thus not fair to vets...also, makes the game alot less fun, vets say so... and they would know what makes a game fun for...everybody!!!!

i was wrong, its user error, the games flawless, problems all solved.

I agree, this game is dying! Bad FDev ... let continue manipulated reduce cr on mission = soon a game is over.

Not more fun and we lose grace.

To be fair, "we" (I mean those playing the game since gamma) had our fair share of REAL gold rushes back then : rare unlimited anyone ?
So far, FD has been unable (or is it unwilling ?) to prevent what I call $$$ exploits. The main currency has always been a joke.

FD might as well give the n00bz 20 billion instead of a thousand credits IMHO : those guys will be gone a few weeks after that. And hopefully we'll be able to focus on what matters : gameplay.

They're not going anywhere anyway and they'll return during a few weeks with the next update, craving for some new shiny "I WIN" button anyway.

Seen a few mentions in here regarding 'buying credits for cash' from our store. As we've previously mentioned (numerous times I think!), It's not happening.

Thats the best news.

When will Frontier address the issue of the payout scaling being utterly wrong though?
Currently its too easy to earn in the early game and too hard in the late game. Seriously, please look at it.

Delighted by this response! Thank you FDev for not giving in to players that want Elite to become P2W 💜

They've likely had turnover of staff who did the original coding and, despite documentation of their work and maintaining continuity among senior level devs such as Adam, Dav, SJA etc, it has probably made for difficult progress once their skills have moved on.

This is quite possible. Another scenario, one that I have personal experience with, is that the core design was designed to one set of requirements, and then later management changes their mind and decides they NOW want the software to do things it was never intended to handle nor support as future functionality. Of course management, in their ignorance and shortsightedness think that it is always a simple thing to just hack an existing codebase rather than start fresh with a new set of requirements and create a new design. The result of their ignorance is that you end up with spaghetti code that is a joke to maintain or add new features to, and is so fragile that when you do make changes you break the code in a dozen other areas.

Right about then is when I headed for the door... ;)

It was 12, noob :) But only until Powerplay "fixed" it by introducing 480%-raise on bountyhunting (was fixed 2 years later :))

*yawn*

Problem is - when PP was introduced the most players already were triple Elite and had 3 billion on their bank accounts - a value that is more than enough for playing the game for the next years.

i would not trade my 1st 100 hrs in ED back in gamma / 1.0 with anyone. yes there was far less content, but the feeling of reward saving up for a C rated PP so that i could run a 2nd burst laser in my sidewinder was brilliant. every little upgrade was planned for and saved up for. in my restart 12 months ago, within 20 mins i was out of my starter ship and into a DBscout.... all i had to do was steal a few kills in a res. job done. where is the balance there?.

yes, when you got to the T6 level of ship things hit a brick wall unless space trucker was your thing but up until that point ED was the best it has ever been imo. I wish FD could have thought better about how to balance the early game whilst enabling the earning the big ships in a better fashion rather than simply rendering any ships below the asp x moot other than "just for fun".

it is still salvageable of course but it will need a lot of work on the missions (undercover missions where we lose our identity and our "stuff for a few hrs and have to "play" as a poor miner/trader/smuggler/pirate etc) and what not... if they dont do this then the cheap ship part of the game i fear will be lost.
