Wing mission balance pass

Previously I could get missions right through the range from a faction. Looking tonight at allied I was only seeing 7000t level ones. To test I abandoned some missions reducing rep and as I fell through friendly etc down to unfriendly the amount required dropped at each level.

Seems higher rep you don't see the lower missions as an option.

Ended up moving somewhere I was less liked to get wing missions with nicer amounts to deliver. Didn't care about credits we were winging for the materials.

Its also based on your trade rank i believe.
I was also able to see missions ranging from 2000t all the way up to just over 7000t. Most were between 4500t and 7000t though.

Not sure if the change has been implemented yet. Was hoping it had been changed between then and now.
Do the rewards look similar to what we saw post 3.0.3?
If they do might also be another indicator that the change hasnt happened yet.

Wont be home for a few hours from work to confirm your observations or test myself either.

At least there willing to tune it a bit. Hopefully it will end in a solution that can be accepted by most.
 
Hello everyone,

A quick update on the status of Wing Delivery Missions: we are going to be reducing the units of cargo that these missions can require to 320 – 6120. In addition, we’ll also be increasing the payouts of these missions slightly.

I would like to ask what are wing missions doing in Solo mode? What's the reason for them being there? Also, is it by design that grade 5 materials are now almost always exclusive to wing missions? Because that would be horrible. Thanks

I did Wing Missions Solo whilst playing in Open. It just required planning and having Wing Missions to back haul.

With 752 tons of Cargo you can do Wing Missions on your own, at least I was during 3.02.0.
 
  • Four days ago: was fun do wing missions, payments were decent for invested time, enough mission to chose from and on each station was at least one worth to do and call friends.
  • Yesterday: on stations I found exactly ZERO interesting wing missions. Why so? ... Much less missions offered, 4-5x less paid and 2-3x more cargo to haul .. this should be called balancing? Well, ok, there were announced some updates yesterday afternoon, so will see again in two days if latest changes returned wing missions back at least little.

Dear Adam,

This problem of junk rewards goes beyond Wing Missions. It's happening in regular missions too. While the special commodities of Modular Terminals and Bromellite are still offered as rewards, Articulation Motors and Neofabric Insulation are NOT - which has locked us out from ever being able to unlock certain items from the new Tech Brokers!

Beyond this, commodities that the station sells (especially the non-commodity of limpets) is just wasting a reward slot! The money difference between cash only, and the junk commodity is the exact value the station buys the commodity for! We could just buy the commodity cheaper on our own, from the markets, and then go do trading elsewhere if that's what we wanted to do. This is wasting one of the three slots that could be giving us something special - e.g. Neofabric Insulation *COUGH* - engineering mats/data, extra rep, extra influence, etc.

In short, it's just borked. I appreciate that you guys needed to fix the problem with missions giving a reward that could then be used to complete another mission, thus creating an infinite loop, but replacing that with junk is not the way to fix this.

Please - remove these junk options from the rewards for both WING and Solo missions.

Wing source and deliver is now just not worth the effort: as always, rather than tweeking the missions (maybe the wing payouts were a little bit high) they just nerf them into oblivion!
It was the same with long range smuggling (for me the best missions there have been in this game), they had flaws - payments were perhaps to high (i don't think they were given how long it actually took to do a round trip with all the deliveries), the continual interdictions from the same small ships that could somehow keep up with a long range ship that wasn't fuel scooping was unrealistic, I could never understand why the cops lost interest in you once they had scanned you despite your ship containing many units of illegal cargo - but I found them great fun.

These missions got people interacting myself included... I even bought a mic! Never mind, back to solo it is then!

Yeah me too. First bit of gameplay that had me playing in a wing. Great weekend I had last, lots of great guys from all over the world having a laugh and joking as we cruised around the bubble milking stations dry of their palladium like a bunch of locusts.

In comes Monday's patch, and the wing has all but disbanded. No more fun, back to solo missions. How dare you make 50 million credits an hour while having fun and organising yourselves in a proper concerted effort.

Wasnt seeing a any decent change in the mission amounts or rewards after work this morning.

If they nerfed it by 10% the first time they seem to have only buffed it by 1% this time.

Probably pointless asking but can anyome from FDev confirm the buff has been implemented?
 
Supply has never had any relationship to if a mission of that commodity is offered. That won't change anytime soon.

All that matters is State, Population and Economy type.

While I can see the issues surrounding the markets drying up which makes that amount of palladium very difficult to obtain, that "mere 5 million credits" still works out reasonably compared to normal trading in terms of volume. In fact, 25 million credits for 1500 palladium is actually 900 credits per tonne higher than the highest market price for palladium.

They are not paying 25 mil for the paladium though,they are paying 20mil,the extra 5mil is transport cost.

If a cmdr takes this mission they risk large fines on failure,a problem with supply and the potential for re buys along the way,that 5 mil profit doesnt sound great to me...

Btw .. fine in wing mission is (was 6 days ago) proportional to "stolen" cargo: i.e. I had skimmer accident on dock with my conda losing 400 imperial slaves (and 35M rebuy ;) ) and I got fine around 6M which is mostly covering only market price of lost cargo.

@OP: If there is involved possible mining, then it is imo very cool, if you like do it and have few like-minded friends. You can call it "mini mining CG" ... personally my top favorite CG.

are there bulk mining missions for bauxite and such stuff?
if anything i would expect some wing missions asking for 6kt of minerals you find in rocky rings and ususally filter out
 
And just why would you reward solo player doing wing mission more for doing it solo, than an intended way of doing it in a wing?

Are you sure about that?
Then what defines a Wing?
Must a wing always have 4 members?
Why cannot we say that a single individual is a Wing of One?
And if that is the case, why are Wings of less than 4 being unfairly and capriciously being disadvantaged with unequal payment?

Example (as is now):

Do X - Advertised payment of $10 mCr
Wing of 1 gets paid $10 Mcr
Wing of 2 gets $20 mCr
Wing of 3 gets $30 mCr
Wing of 4 gets $40 mCr

What I am advocating would make the same mission thus:
Do X - Advertised Payment $40 mCr (apply Magic Multiplier UP FRONT where it belongs)
Wing of 1 gets $40 mCr
Wing of 2 gets $40 mCr (each share $20 mCr)
Wing of 3 gets $40 mCr (each share $13.33 mCr)
Wing of 4 gets $40 mCr (each share $10 mCr)

NOW do you understand? I am simply advocating that WE get to choose our own level of Risk v Reward v Challenge and get paid equitably based upon that CHOICE.
