Today's new store items.

I do find it curious how some ships seem to get all this LOVE in regards to store items, while others go begging. My first thought is that they base support on user engagement with that particular ship.

No idea is that is true or not.

As for the latest Cutter offering? It looks kind of cool, but the previous Galvanized paint job in Blue is SO STRIKING I don't think I am ever going to change it. ;) Well... Maybe if they ever offer a true "Golden Cutter", I might consider it. :)

What I am waiting for now is a "GOLDEN CHIEFTAIN". Actually surprised they have not yet released one. ??
Battle scarred Olive green color scheme for chieftain. Call it the Master pack. Then call the lawyers.

Cutters come painted white, then you paint them graphite. Don't understand the point of this new pack.

I don't like 'em a bit.

By the way, what on earth happens with the black and the chrome paints for the Cutter?

I've been checking the web for ages and they simply never appear available. They're the best colour schemes for the Cutter and are not available? It doesn't make sense...

Excuse me for the slight off-topic but I had to spill it out...

When you equip the ALLIANCE CHIEFTAIN SHIP KIT - 12 PIECES with those long antennae next to the cockpit... are the antenna actually visibly whilst flying?

They are time-locked... just like every year.

All of that text, and am i the only one who sees the actual baseline? Maybe i am the exception, but i fly seveal different ships, depending what i am doing. I have five ships which regularily leave the hangar and have individual paintjobs. Would FD sell a package of "one paintjob for all ships", i probably would've picked the one paintjob i liked the most, bought it once and never spent anything again.
.
You see the difference? I think the current setup is advantageous for FD.
.

Advantageous in the short run, but in the long run, I think it works to their disadvantage, because they'd move fewer units (if my hypothesis is correct). I think (although I may be completely wrong, I admit) that more people would buy more paint packs if they covered every ship. You may have bought a paint pack for each ship you use regularly, but I think you are the exception, as you say; for every one of you, how many others said "man, each paint job only covers one ship? I'm not wasting money if I have to buy a new job for each ship I own." and settled on only one paint pack anyway?

I don't have all the data available to prove my model would be more successful than the current one. I'd need to know how many units they've moved, how many paint packs have been bought per player on average, and a whole slew of other data that I can't even think of. I guess it all depends on how many people agree with my frame of mind ("Universal Paint Packs" would be a more worthwhile investment than "Per ship" ones) vs. your frame of mind (preferring to pay for "per ship" paint packs). Instinctively, however, I feel like my model of Universal paint packs would move more units than the current "per ship" paint packs, and in the end, more units moved for the same price equals more profit. And that's assuming they wouldn't jack up the price for each Universal pack; I'd still pay for a couple of paint packs even if they cost a little more, if I knew that no matter what ship I was in, it'd have access to the paint pack. Now, they'd be moving MORE units at a HIGHER profit per pack.

Bottom line: They've gotten my $3.00, but that's very likely all they'll get from me (and players like me). If they make paint packs Universal, they'll get more from me (and players like me).

No Fdev, no! Bad dog! If my adblocking software is interfering with accepting payments (they don't btw), then you're doing the internet wrong!

it doesn't, i've safely ignored that warning on the grounds that if frontier's own shop doesn't get them their payment then that's on them.

but, yes, i always smirk when i see that warning. it's like the browser compatibility recommendations on websites, or the stupid and useless legals disclaimers on email footers: it's funny to see people being so serious and so clueless about what they are doing.

Eh.. oohh.. meehh.. eh... ok, they're not the ugliest thing I've ever seen.. they're not Chrome(d) for the Ocra, so.. I don't see me buying any.

I bought Gold for the one Cutter I own. That's good enough.

I love that you do this. Post the new stuff. I still forget to lower my landing gear and request docking after years, so these kinds of reminders that new things exist are awesome. Cheers!!

Have to agree. I don't know if Un1 spends his days F5-ing the store, but it is greatly appreciated. :)

Make the Big Ships easy.... sell them paint in the store. Am I alone in thinking the store greed is damaging this game?

Don't know whether its damaging it, still seems somewhat scummy to me, but then I suppose they have to give the work experience guy something to do on a Friday.

Not seeing it at all. While I still would like to see some unique cosmetics as rewards for in-game events or missions, choice is there and mostly I am not interested in picking paintjobs. But when I do, it is nice to have something to pickup and support FD.
While they are few and far between, paintjobs and decals are occasionally available as in-game rewards. I have a chrome Eagle paintjob as a Xmas CG reward and 3 decals (awarded for Distant Worlds Expedition, a CG, and participating in a particular Beta test).

It would be nice if there were more of these "gifts".

And you missed my point. FD are encouraging Big Ships in the game. Their very presence changes the game for everyone else.

They do? I've only seen a couple of Big Ships(TM) in game, and that's when I've been on approach to an Engineer station. I didn't have to wait for docking permission, either.
