Stop killing immersion for the sake of Atari gameplay.

All I know is that when I talked about the issues with missions regarding instant transfer, Michael Brooks asked to clarify what issue with missions. So I told him, mission restriction would be pointless. Shortly after that, there was a change of tune within FDev towers.

Whether it was to do with what I had said or not I don't know. As for the reasons why people voted against instant we do not know either apart for yourself and the people you know personally.

So as to the reasons it got changed from instant to timed, we don't really know.

Because instant transfer is lame-y game-y and doesn't make any sense? Same reason we can't just pick a destination 30,000 Ly across the galaxy and one-jump there.

Awesome post, you can tell by all he one line salt responses that no one here actually has a reasonable answer to your valid arguments. It appears most of them saw the word "immersion" and just got triggered. +1 rep

AI’s flying ships are illegal because they are to easy to hack or could decide that they don’t need the humans. The thargoids ar known to be better at using AI so there is a risk that an Alien power could take over your fleet of ships if they were computer controlled.

But the main reason we don’t have automation for flying is because this is a space flying simulation!

PS: FSD is only 10 years old in the Elite universe. I’m sure as a new tec that does one task it would be hard to turn it against it’s human masters.

2-5 minutes for both is reasonable enougth

You want to put MORE timers on a game that's basically a chain of timers with some player input here and there just to keep him awake?

Nopety nope. Elite needs deeper interaction, way more gameplay, variety and lastly more content, in this precise order.
No more timers, we have enough of those already. Spacelegs in sight or no.

That said I agree with everything else you were saying, I just get easily triggered when I hear the words "Elite" and "more timers" in the same sentence.

FFXV have an integral universe. Cause and effect lines are intact. And it doesnt have same old gameplay because of realistic graphics engine. That is what ED does wrong.
Best I can conclude on my expirience of ED world is that all of that happened due to universe was being ruled by dumb communistic bureaucrates with too much power for ten centures. Which would hardly work on universe scale.

Right, because the highest human population states can't be communist. It wouldn't work.

/Looks at a vast landmass on globe sitting in corner of room.

It's instant vomit fest, it will keep your mind off ED for a while.

For the unfortunate few. For the rest of us, it's a game changer.

And computers, and vr and makes you thing heh at least i sold it quick before price went down A LOT.

I sold my Vive a week after I got it for a hefty mark-up (it wasn't good enough to justify the price). But I bought the Rift when the price dropped in the summer sale, and am keeping that until the Pimax 8k hits the shelves. :)

We tried asking nicely - it didn't work.

You mean you got an answer you didn't like, and now you want to stomp your feet about it? ;)

Just because nothing happens if you ask nicely doesn't mean that you are then entitled to rant or demand. Note that I'm not suggesting that you are necessarily ranting or demanding, I am simply responding to the statement quoted.

Please note the third-party dev's tried asking nicely, first, as well.

They had to go on strike, to get Frontier's attention, and it was resolved faster than a credit exploit. :)

So where does you entitlement end
You asked nice and didn't get what you want
What next be antisocial
If that doesn't work are person threats next?
Property vandalsim?
Clearly it is you right to get what you want no matter what so any means justify the ends right.

Is the concept that just because you want something doesn't mean it is yours get mean anything to you?

Probably not

And there would be a significant amount of work for FDev to undertake to do this

Really...or you could simply allow each Firegroup to be bound to a key in the same way that heatsinks...Chaff and SCBs (for example) can be assigned a keybind...I reckon it'd take all of a few hours worth of programming
(Oh and they make "request docking" bindable too...so I don't have to have a ridiculous dozen stage macro bound to a key for docking)
In fact Frontier...just allow all the options in the game to have a keybinding...that would make life MUCH easier for Cockpit builders/peripheral users...
I'm normally what the naysayers on the forum call a "white Knight" or a "Fanboi" so if its got me pulling my hair-out...what about everybody else!

Weird thing is that Frontier *did* sort of introduce expanded fire group functionality with 2.3 in the form of "quick-slots"; two additional bindable buttons which could be assigned to a single module each. Perfect for binding say a single missile launcher or that one healing turret or whatever. But then they restricted this Quick-Slot functionality to the turret gunner role in multi crew, where it is absolutely not needed and I'm not sure people are even aware it exists.

I would love it if the quick-slot functionality were enabled for solo pilots, because then when I play with a game pad I won't need to memorize a bunch of arcane unique button combinations for chaff, ECM, SCB, heatsinks, etc. Instead, I could memorize just TWO special buttons and then assign them on an as-needed basis depending on which ship I am flying.

So, yeah - adding quick-slot functionality would *simplify* the control scheme and make it *more* accessible for console players, not less.

Oh yeah my immersion it's totally ruined!!

Why do I respawn when I die? What is this an Atari game?

Pfft don't even get me started on repairs, I want to wait a month to repair my ship!!! FRONTIER ARE YOU NOT LISTENING

Also I would totally love to have to pee in the middle of an engagement, come on FD this is not a kids game!!

/seriously though

Some games are just the way that they are and they are going to be made in the way the Developer wants to make them, I would love to fly a Cruiser in Halo, does that mean that the developers should do it? Hell no, they envisioned you being a soldier (albeit a walking talk) and that's what they give you because that's what the game it's meant to be. In Elite you're not supposed to be a Businessman owning properties and selling in the stock market, you're supposed to make your living in space. FD has stated multiple times that ED IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE A SIMULATOR, naturally those who want a sim will not find it here and that's ok, that's how the industry works. Now autopilot sure there is no reason not to have it, other than it may be as perjudicial for some as it will be beneficial for others but what if FD doesn't want autopilot, have you thought about their side? I would alose love just kick back and relax on long trips but that's not the reality and nor do i feel FD is obligated to abide to my requests. They want to make their game in their way, and that will get a fan base that likes that game, it really seems that you want elite to be something else to fit your vision, and that's entirely ok. But that doesn't mean they are obligated to do what you want.

It's their game, their choices, if you like it that's awesome, if you don't then that's just how life is. You're probably looking for something else ;)

Also if you're looking for 100% immersion as you state then you wouldn't have an FSD in the first place, just an FYI.

Repped.

Although FDev do listen to the community, not always for the best imo (transfer times). If enough of the community wanted an autopilot, I think we would get an autopilot...

Autopilot is immersive though, having to always manually fly is anti-immersive.

You can build space ships but somehow cant figure out a simple autopilot? It insults our intelligence.
