General / Off-Topic Let's Hear Your Stuff

For drums I'm using a Roland HD-1 with Addictive drums in my DAW. Like your recordings btw.

Roland electronic drums didn't always get it right as so many of their keyboards in the past. But once they figured them out their hardware is hard to beat and expensive! Then technology along comes something weird as in Drums Anywhere software without any expensive hardware. Works for pretty much with any studio project less an excellent drummer like Neil Pert playing them. Me...I'm old school going back to to mic real drums for pro recording. It may not be cost effective but gets better talent results. There is a passion with the real percussion in the recording studio. Makes the talent more connected with the music. I find that passion is what music is all about. Technology improvements rarely consider this. But that is just me.

Music is a part of us. So much more than playing Elite Dangerous. It touches the soul. That is the difference between us as humans and the rest of the critters on the planet including our pets. Then again when I'm playing slow jazz tunes on the piano and three dogs gather around my feet listening to my playing I often wonder if critters have a soul. They like humans certainly respond to music. If I get to heaven that is the first question I'll ask. Pretty deep huh!

Do you have anywhere you can upload raw individual tracks for a song? I'd like to have a bash at mixing something if you're up for it?

EDIT: Actually, didn't you say you use SONAR? Because that's what I use too so could use a Cakewalk Project Bundle.

Yeah, I can upload the raw tracks. Yeah I use Sonar so it can be uploaded as a Cakewalk Bundle or Project CWP or CWB. I didn't expect responses, so I didn't reply. My bad. Yeah mix my stuff. See what happens. I'm still learning. Cheers!

Some college kids got together and decided to record some songs to make some money. They were in the right place at the right time and were an international sensation for a few years. Tell me if you know who they are with this tune.

I would but the link is file not found.

Cool, just PM me a download link when you're ready.

Same here, mixing other people's stuff makes for really good practice. :)

The Chemical Assistants on SoundCloud. My mate Sandy & my self playing instrumental progrock, recorded in my council flat ( I have very good nebiours) on a laptop useing cuebase all original stuff. Also shoot my down in flames for being a braggert if you want but we have been played on Australian radio a few times.

HA! A thread where I get to listen to spaceheads music! Excellent!

(listen)

...and it's full of punks and jazzmen. What is the world coming to? Good thing Steutelbos was around.
Seriously, there are some great songs, that's so cool to hear people doing music!

Here's my stuff. You've got folk, industrial rock, ambient, regular rock, loads of instrumentals and weird experiments, with lots of songs including many people lending voice samples, and not so many others where I actually sing (hint: the first song is one of them).

Good luck!

Spot on mate (good song)! And all the specifications of styles/preferences: It's all music; from Mozart to Steve Ignorant. When Chumbawamba did the album 'Pictures Of Starving Children Sell Records', it became obvious that Folk and Punk were only separated by generations. The label 'Ska' makes assumptions too, racially and politically. The 2Tone era was people getting together despite the expectations of another generation. Unfortunately, divisions are productive for the divisive.

Debate. Discuss. Play.

I can hear "Conflict - Mighty and Superior" in that first part of the first tune and of course the vox sounds like Sub Hum Ans/Culture Shock/Citizen Fish. I don't think the forum will let me post his name.

Check out Spanner from Bristol. Great Ska Punk band.

Haha, BABOON GUITAR and its MERRY CRACKHEADS is golden. Your linked song puzzles me, I would swear that is an actual mic'ed tube amp but who does that in this age? Sounds very nice though, kinda reminds me of the sound of Crosby, Nash & Young in the 70s. The detail in how you slowly build and especially end the song is really cool. I haven't had the chance to listen to Urbanusual yet, but added it to my collection based on the the linked song and the Baboon album. Figured in total your entire collection would probably give me more enjoyment than another tactical paint pack. :p A small tip if I may be so bold: your homepage is set to your latest song. I think it would be slightly less confusing if you'd set it to the 'total discography overview'. At first I thought your linked song was the only song you uploaded as I am not used to using the right hand bar on bandcamp. If you want, you can go to your Artist Profile Settings and at the bottom set your home page to 'go to my discography'.

FWIW: I've finished the album the song you apparantly enjoyed belongs to. It is currently being processed by Apple, Amazon, Google and so forth, and for the time being I have enabled free downloads. You can grab it here by typing in '0' (zero) as price: https://sleutelbos.bandcamp.com/album/nature-never-blinks

If you do so, a 'download' button is added to the screen. I'll keep this option open till next friday (april 13th). If anyone reads it afterwards and wants a free download, drop me a PM and I'll provide a private download. :)

Haha thanks, I appreciate the support! Your music is every bit as nice as I expected, from what I listened. Got myself Nature never blinks and A refuge for lost sounds, which concept I like. Still have to listen to this one.

Thanks for the tip, I just changed that.
