I'm just waiting for the ultra-cool way the OP is going to use maths and video to prove this was an April 'Fools Day' prank. Then we'll all see the light, and beg for all content to be made open-only.
Open-only, you know, the way it was advertised and promised from the start? Read between the lines why don't ya. It's obvious, Ed said so, through body-language and hand signals, on a live-stream once.
Mathematically proven.

To be fair, I think everything said in the beginning is correct. The only thing I feel should be different is if you do PVP you do it all. Indirect and Direct together. No reason to have them separated. You either take part in them or you dont. Game devs should add that "hoop" for fair and balanced gameplay. This would also remove some of the toxicity and give meaning to PVP besides "griefing" when it comes to objectives.
And yes, since its objective based over systems. Then you really do have the advantage in the modes since hauling gets most of the work done. Especially with the new ATR's and cop killing. The No Floor Method is dead.
As far as PVP being beyond the reach of the most dedicated grinders as someone listed below. Not any longer. There are caps on engineers now, buffs to High Grades, Raw material nodes and more. Its much easier, if people can grind for 2 months trying to take a system against someone else. They can Engineer their damn ships.
People would still have the options as braben said in in Maynards video he posted.
In this case, you would opt in to ALL of the PVP, or None of it.
Not that big of deal really.
If your internet sucks. Thats on you. Not the rest of our problems. Get better internet. Go buy a subscription to Xbox live or ps4 Online if you're on consoles.
Stop with the excuses.
Besides that I 100% agree the modes are awesome for personal growth or playing with your friends. As long as you arent intentionally trying to effect anyone else.
This is basically common sense for any game developer. Its just this one the game evolved over time from what it once was. To what we have today.
And it looks like they are catching everything up with the "Beyond" Core changes they spoke of. And it all started with 3.0 making engineers the level playing field.
And yes, Ed did say they are working on the meaningful PVP.
