Finally - Doomsday and retreat to Colonia?

At the risk of sounding politically incorrect, if it turns out that the Thargoids look like Tricia Helfer, I may be forced to re-evaluate my opinion of them.

Tricia Helfer, nope, sorry, she was a toaster not a Thargoid. [haha]
I somehow have the strange feeling the Thargoid could look more like Madame Vastra.

tl;dr: Pollux listening post recites messages in french that were spread short before D-Day in WW II.

So I have a little prophecy:
Since the introduction of Colonia I thought this is for a reason. I speculated that we all will have to retreat one day ... to Colonia.

And the announced overhaul of eploration fits wonderfully with the necessary expansion of Colonia when lots of ships and ppl from the bubble arrive.

Poor powerplayers ... [blah] ... but that´s fate. Similar happened to the twelve colonies in Battlestar Galactica.

PS: I knew the Thargs are French :D

Won't happen.. Far too many snowflakes who have the ear of Frontier wouldn't like it.. Them and their precious anacondas and their safe space explorations..

I can hear the whining now.. 'aw.. I don't want to be content for the Thargoids, I'm a peaceful trader/explorer (QQ)'...

You get the drift.. :(

That's why I'm bringing Aegis tech to Colonia.
We have surface bases of sufficient tech level to produce it all locally, not that anyone's found a reason to use it yet. I see the occasional pilot looking around with an AX kit.

Whose to say that Colonia isn't just a trap. Maybe the whole idea was to build something up just to tear it down.
If the recent news about Thargoids planting barnacles to later harvest is accurate, I wouldn't expect them to pay that much attention to Colonia - no barnacles have been discovered for a very long way around. The Council nevertheless seems concerned about the possibility, though.

There is no compelling reason to be in Colonia. Unless things have changed dramatically since I was last out there. As far as I'm aware the outfitting is mediocre, shipyards are limited and no engineers.
Shipyards: all non-superpower ships available
Outfitting: A-rated to size 3 (and higher in mining and some exploration branches) ... B/C-rated above that.
Engineers: none, but there are material traders and remote workshops (and tech brokers, for that matter)

I certainly agree there's no compelling in-game reason to be here for the most part ... on the other hand I went back to the Sol bubble for a couple of days last month and rapidly concluded there was no compelling reason to be there either. At least in Colonia you get a nicer skybox.

Currently I'm on sight seeing journey. It'd be interesting to return just to witness half of bubble in flames. Tho cannot tell if it'd be good or bad experience. Brings way too many uncomfortable questions, like: will I be able to access my stored ships when storing station is broken? Why not?

I have that luck of flying (almost) self sufficient ship. Can refuel anywhere so I'm not limited to any facility. I could hide in some remote system for stars to burn out. Traders and combat pilots have some tough luck though. Maybe it's time for me to return, liquidate all assets owned and pour it into luxury outfitted Cutter? Fuel scoop, SRV, AFMU, some mining gear maybe, small but well equipped personal cabin and lots of food cartridges.

Sounds like a plan.

Personally a all out war on the bubble would be brilliant nit only would it get rid of the mess that is power play but allow for a much more interesting narative than we have of late.

Look at it this way the superpowers are only allied over this threat whilst it is a threat once we are at war it's going to be a survival of human space sort of thing. I hope all the PP factions slowly dwindle and news comes through of their demise etc.

What a better way to reboot ED than have a serious threat to human space as long as they can actually fight in open and not just NHSS's getting interdicted by them would be a experience :)

I would also like a option to ally with them much like pirates of Elite who turned up with the scouts.

What would be really good would be the ability to make a difference!
To actually fight them and save a station!
Weather this is done with a new station battle zone (which would be fantastic) or just with community goals.
If its just going to be a gradual pre scripted invasion of the bubble with no player effect, then you might as well not bother

I would also like a option to ally with them much like pirates of Elite who turned up with the scouts.

If there is an option to ally with them, which I don't think there should be, then their rights and privileges as a human should be forfeit.

They should be refused station access and a massive bounty placed on their head!
