Player Groups and Minor Factions - General Discussion

Just to play the nitpicker.

Brett doesn't run the analysis nor is he taking the decisions.

He is the voice communicating whenever one of the people behind think something should be communicated.

I know, as he and I have spoken about this process before. It was 1:30 AM when I wrote that post. I've not gone to bed yet, but edited it to satisfy your nitpicking. Sorry about that. Hope it looks okay now.

BRETT... I need some sort of response on this PMF rubbish. My group waits 7 months just to find out that you messed it up at point of application.

The Federal Democratic Command did NOT request a PMF called the Alien Defense Force. I have never even heard of this other group/faction. Our requested PMF was the Federal Democrats, see makes more sense doesn't it.

If that's the case, It would have been real nice to know about it the first time we applied...

It would have saved us from wasting a years' worth of preparatory BGS work, lore building and two more denied PMF applications' worth of disappointment.

FDEV: this is why there needs to be a grace period in which you inform us of rejections sooner so that we can amend and not miss the boat, we NEED to know when the decision is made and in turn what we need to do to remedy it and how long we have to do it. There has to be a better way??

Point proven. I'm hoping for the FDC sake that that is just an error.

Is this is list of populated, yet available systems?
Thanks.

Just thinking loud.

If we help ourselves anyway.

Why not setting up a Google sheet or something like that with all currently available systems and adding columns for PMF name, application date, system rank 1/2/3 and PMF allegiance.

That way we could keep it transparent for us who applied for which systems. I don't think we help ourselves and our players if we try to hide which systems we applied for and only increased the risk of being rejected cause somebody else applied already for the same system.

Consider this a proposal draft.

Hmmmm.
I have the feeling I know what you are aiming at...

No, nooooo! You can't be that cynical.
No way.
:D;)

Just to help add to the confusion I believe when they say denied for incorrect govt type that does not refer to allegiance like empire or fed or independent. In the case above independent won’t get you banned from an empire or fed system, but empire in fed or vice versa would. I’m not sure on that point tho as it has been done before, in reality the govt type refers to those govts that are only fed type or empire type. Like communist is independent and venturist is fed or patronage is empire. If you incorrectly chose one of those for the wrong allegiance or if they incorrectly read your govt type then you would be denied.

Now I got really confused. To begin with, I believe the PMF application form doesn't allow us to make mistakes such as saying the PMF is allied to the FEDERATION and has a PATRONAGE government type.

So I think what we can't do is apply for a Fed/Alliance system if our PMF is allied to the Empire.

I believe we can only EXPAND to "enemy territory", right?

Or am I completely wrong?

I think when I applied, there was a govt type drop down as well as an allegiance option

This was in August last year and I think the form may have changed since then

The form doesn’t recognize if you wrote down a fed system but tried to be empire/alliance. As for the correct type with the correct allegiance it’s a drop down currently and I don’t remember if it stops you from selecting ones that don’t work with one another, besides that there are some that have been here waiting since before that form and some of the rules came about that you see now. So it’s not unlikely that rules under the current application process didn’t apply then and hence they may have broken them. Which is where some frustration comes from, why should they be held to rules that didn’t exist because FDev drug their feet?

Yep, I don't remember if back in June (our first application) or in Septemper/October (our second application) the form was good enough to not allow us to make such mistakes. But RIGHT NOW it doesn't allow us to choose a government type from Empire to be used by a Fed PMF, or vice versa.

Oh, yes we can.

When Frontier only assigns one guy, on a seemingly part-time basis, to work on this, it's no surprise that flames erupt.

Beige Squadron says that there are one hundred people assigned to every task in the game.

But, they *may* only have one body to use. :)

I believe you are right. So you can't choose a patronage government with a Fed allegiance for instance. However - as there is (or at least there was) no link from the three systems to the PMF government/allegiance you still could apply for a system with current allegiance A with a PMF with current allegiance B which in my understanding kicks you out of the process.
So a FED PMF (like mine) can't be placed in an Empire system. Which makes sense as otherwise you could undermine/undercut the big powers by simple PMF placement.

However with regards to our Leviathan friends who seem to have applied as Independents and apparently no faction or PMF presence criteria being violated it was the question whether they were rejected due to prohibition of Independent PMFs being placed in major power systems (in this case FED) or whether other (not known) criteria were violated or whether simply a process check error was cause of the reject similar like it looks like to have happened for the mates from Federal Democratic Command.

What a crock of . You accepted our group name as The Black List but won't accept it as a PMF!? Because some generic tv show that no one watches is named that too!? Geez...all this wait for nothing. See ya....no more of this game for me. What a load of horse manure.

A player group is in internal reference for a group of players and is not the same as a public inclusion into the game.

There is more risk of trademark issues and lawsuits with PMFs in-game than a fan-group reference behind the scenes.
