I just started a new account on PC as I have been an Xbox Elite Player for years now to the tune of about 6800 hours played(On XBox alone). I felt like the grind was going to be so hard because I hear so many people complain about it so often that I started to believe it was true. Then I look at my Inara journal updates(
https://inara.cz/cmdr/109447/) and realize its not at all that hard and I feel more and more people just want stuff that they are unable or unwilling to work for. This is still less then 8 days played and Im 2 Imperial ranks away from the Cutter. From a Sidey to a A class Python in less then 8 days in game playing time.

I guess I just want people to know it isnt hard. In fact, with the right information, its super easy.
For people that have lots of time to play it isnt a grind. Because for them spending 40 or more hours a week on this game isnt hard.
For people that are restricted in time due to RL it is a grind because finding 8 hours a week can be almost impossible. its that simple.
Eg for someone with 40hr a week. You can do alot of things. And things happen quickly in their point of view. But for someone that can only do say 6hrs a week to get to the same point in one week for the other people may take almost 7 weeks.
So its just perspective of how much time the person has.
For example what has taken me about 4 weeks of in game time took real life time of since release on xbox. That is with quite a few breaks though. So certain things do seem like a grind. But for someone that can put 10x more game time in it would be a quick process.
For me personally though mats and data are the main grind. I personally would like the option many other games have in that you have a choice how to pay for things for example
You go to an engineer you get a few options.
1. As is now pay purely mats and data.
2. Use what ever mats and data you have and the rest in credits.
3. Pay with just credits. ( being the most expensive way)
Or have it you can buy mats and data for credits from someone.
That way you can choose how you play and what you grind for. And it would also have options for those who want to do it the old way or use credits.
So in role play perspective if your a salvager, miner, pirate you have constant access to data and mats.
But if your character is only concerned with cold hard credits you can use credits to buy anything.
My thoughts of the way the galaxy is is anything can be bought for credits if you pay enough or find the right person to buy from.
For example you can buy all sorts of things from the market but you cant buy simple things like iron or arsenic etc.
All things should be aquireable with credits if you have enough.
