Modes Elite Dangerous PvE vs PvP and who needs a Solo play if you had PvE server

Never did find out if the rumours were true. Some folks recon he was caught up in the cheated RNGneer modules.
I did see someone demand the event to be run again because they "knew" that cheated modules were used.
But lets be honest, even if they were or were not - it would have been the same result.

tbh I only connected 'HP' because I've seen it used in previous 'referential' posts. I agree it's not obvious at first glance.

I'm not sure it's my place to say whether he was caught up in the 5 for 1 exploit, but he is good at finding loopholes & does a solid line in thinking laterally. My current understanding is that he helps out puzzle solving with Canonn. I'm not going to defend or applaud his actions.

You don't have to like him, my point is he doesn't hate anyone, he's just having fun.

oh I neither like nor dislike the guy. Never spoke with him.
Seen him posting on Reddit, took a load of abuse over that event but he took it in his stride.
Stayed quite upbeat and positive from what I read. So fair play to the guy.

His actions as far as the event goes (accusations to one side), were all part of the game.
And with everyone being told that fame followed in the form of being in the book.
I know that too many people want to be famous and will go to any lengths to get it.
So I stayed away.

If I'm honest, I half expected Manjinvash to be one of the forerunners for that.
Kinda disappointed it wasn't. But like Salome, I cannot win them all ;)

I do hope though that the community is treating him better now the dust has settled.

Some people love to be known, be in the lime light, and talked about, but other people, like me, love to have the privacy and be unknown. I rather stay "secret" than be talked about.

I refer to myself as a "begat" in philosophical discussions, which I'm quite content with that being my role in life.

(For those who do not get the reference, it's from the Christian Bible (sometimes begot is used in place of begat - depends on version), Genesis 5, Genesis 11 and 1 Chronicles use it to describe long family lineage:
Adam begat Seth, Seth begat Enosh and so on and so on: "parent" begat "child")

Those who want to fight and try for fame, good luck to them. It's a long way back to earth when you wake up to the fact fame is fleeting and hollow.
I'd much rather put my efforts into maintaining great family relationships and strong friendships.

As mentioned above, if the game didn't have solo/private settings, I wouldn't come near it.

Open world, free4all games are for pvp griefers that love to hunt the "weak" and are first to run from challenge. And usually they are the ones talking about how fair it is to attack a decked out type6 mining ship "we both have the same chances!" with an FDL...

It would be like Dark Souls III (not DS I and II because those have so few players you are kinda safe now). If you dare to go the online route because God forbid you wanna coop in the only proper fantasy game out there with coop, then you get invaded by maniacs that would never accept the fact that being worn out after fighting the monstas in a famously hard game, without any health potions/etc left forced pvp combat might not be fair or fun. For those on the recieving end of the d*ck that is.

There are bad people and it only takes a handful of them to spoil the fun of tons upon tons of decent players. You just need to go around killing them off. Really wouldn't be that hard if we were stuck with open gameplay.

Not to mention those with less than stellar connection towards the hosts... ugh. Game has connection issues for many as is - better not make it even worse.

As I say in every similar thread, this situation reminds me of Matrix:

Earliest versions were full of bliss, yet majority of people could not accept it cause there were no natural strife present.

Difference here, it's not the majority complaining.

Just because everyone disagrees with you doesn't automatically make you wrong. But it does help to have some substance behind the minority opinion.

I generally don't post if what I would have written has already been said (often by you Jockey ;)). It means I tend to be on the minority side of any thread.

This isn't a film about a world where people's conciousness were trapped and they were mainly unaware. This is a game in which people bought it knowing what they were getting (at least in some ways).

I mean, if you are the sort of person who upon being told a kettle is hot still goes ahead and touches it... well, that's your own lookout.

Playing Open?

You don't have to like it.

After how many years?
How many "changes" we are still, at least here in the official forum, down to the fact, you're your own judge. No one can help your ego.

Playing Open, Open is straight and simple, you and them. You don't have to like it. Hate it? Change it!

Play along trusted friends and SOLO. You gonna appreciate, no one 's gonna be in your way.
Funny how people judge their egos fit to foretelling an entire game mode as a failure. Be, or not, what ever they themselves come up with. Completely ignoring each and anyone else - in Open which they themselves forecast to play with!

How about stop being stupid?

Can't stand Liberty?

Change.

We don't need to change open, as we don't have to use open.

Those who like it, play it.
Those who hate it, don't play it.

Simple.

I think that what he was saying, in keeping with the knowledge as to why the machines created the world of the Matrix to contain so much pain, struggle and heartache was because humans don't know how to exist in a Utopia where there is no struggle and would therefore die from lack of stimuli. So, in light of that, PvPers are doing you guys a favor. You're welcome:)

So, basicailly, any single player game is doomed, due to the lack of PvP!

Well, quick, best tell all the publishers to stop making highly sucessful single player games! They are doing it wrong!

EA went there already.

"According to EA the main reason for this was that linear single-player games are no longer as popular as they once were."

I wonder if some of our PvP lot work for EA - it would explain a lot ;)

Now if they would only make a few co-op games again. That: I really miss, the misses does too. :}
Civ 2, Heroes of might and magic, neverwinter nights, freelancer, and on and on.

EA just know they can get more cash from multiplayer games, either through cosmetics that people will pay for to show off to their friends to pay to win items. Its not about creating good games that people will enjoy, its all about milking players, and they can do that better with online games where people compete to win or look cool.

Sure, they are not popular. Between videogame-corporations, and in a commercial sense.

Firstly, they are getting pirated.
Secondly, you cannot really add microtransactions there. Or there will be way more stimuli to pirate them out.
Not to tell that in-game advantages can be simply Artmonied out, and cosmetics do not mean stuff.

EA over and over sells full-priced games WITH p2w microtransactions. Sure, SP would not be as popular among their shareholders.

Not popular? Sorry but there is still a huge market for single player games, and EA did have some good ones. Dragon Age Series is awesome, Mass Effect is good. I actually like Andromeda and the reasons it didn't do so well wasn't the game itself's fault but the things EA did. Single player games still have a large following and many who await each new installment of favored games. Plus many independent game makers use Steam or GOG to advertise their games and you can find great games there as well.

It’s not good enough. It’s still Utopia in open. Just with the risk of a bee sting once in a while, If you are unlucky.

How long is it since the game killed you Jason?
