Well, look at the bright side. At least you not flying around in a tiny COD map in space hiding behind the same old boulders.

I like the design of the Caterpillar. That cargo hatch looks about big enough to drive a buggy out of I would guess. If they don't allow that they are missing a trick, I tell you!

Caterpilar looks like a freighter. Hopefully it can carry as much as a type 9 :p
Wish they stoped selling them tho. Feel like Im goimg to be of the few on the universe that just has an aurora

Yeah it was strange already after the first months of crowdfunding there where more Constellations than hornets, Freelnacers or Auroras, its like being the sole Nissan micra on a highway of 18 wheeler trucks (naturally nowaday everyone has a constellation and 3 hornets +5 300i):D.

Found this interesting:

https://forums.robertsspaceindustri.../the-star-citizen-backer-age-and-content-poll

A few weeks back one of you guys mentioned that SC's crowd are really young compared to ED. According to that poll (with over 800 votes) most backers are between 25-35, and there's about an equal amount of 36+ to 18-24 year olds. So I would not say that the SC audience that take part in the forum discussions on the SC forums are really "young" if that poll is correct.

When I think about young gamers, I think about 12-17 year olds screaming while playing matches in BF, waiting in COD lobbies or during CS scrims.

It's interesting. I doubt its 12 year olds as well. But as for the results of the poll. All it tells us about is the responses given by the those who took the poll. The group may not be reflective for whatever reason. The answers may not even all be truthful. As you can see I dont trust most polls very much!

MPC, I found the thread with the ED poll:

http://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?p=573095

The ED forum users do seem to be a tad older as a whole though. The statistical difference is there but not really that vast. Either poll may or may not be representative though. The people who are most vocal on either forum may well actually be a minority, or not. It's difficult to tell.

I don't know the rules but isn't this a Star Citizen thread? Every time people talked about Elite they said oh let's not get off topic. It would be more relevant to the thread if we would share SC videos. I might be wrong though if there is anyone else who knows the rules that would help.
It is a Star Citizen thread, but it is on the Elite website. This thread has become a place for backers of both games to compare and contrast the two. It is more of a community thread now for discussion of the two games between the estranged citizens from the UEE. I don't think it has to be 100% stuff about Star Citizen, and I see no danger of this becoming a mainly Elite thread. If someone wants to interject some Elite stuff while being sociable, I think that is a good thing. It is community building. Personally I would rather see an off-topic vid of an anaconda than one of your SC nuclear bomb posts that take up 10 vertical inches of my screen. Most of your post make me want to play SC less and less. An anaconda vid gives me a neutral feeling about SC. In my instance, that means it is actually better advertising for SC than your posts.

I understand the sentiment but what has a random anaconda video to do with Star Citizen? Maybe I am missing on something but if I went down the general thread and posted a random video of a Star Citizen ship that it would be a bit odd no matter how cool the video is.

As I said if we are inputting elite in to the discussion is not the problem. I do it several times too but we don't end up talking just about Elite and we have Star Citizen in the topic as well. Which makes for a nice discussion. But an Anaconda video and before that an Elite station out of no where? Maybe I missed out on the context.

My posts are mostly development pictures or RSI posts. I don't care about advertising SC I am more in to keeping people informed on the project.

psyron: What do you think how long would we have to wait to see some in game footage from SC as beautiful as this one from ED

This is an abondoned version of the Gold Horizon station. It also appears in the Freelancer commercial (Operational version).

Btw anybody who is going to watch the livestream on Friday?

Not exactly the same. A better analogy would be to go put a random video of SC in the Elite Katamari on the SC forum. In which case, I don't think you'd have the most vocal ED posters immediately calling for you to stop. Maybe if you kept posting many videos at once and overrunning the topic.

**If the group of like-minded people who have gravitated toward this thread talking to each other, occasionally off-topic, is too distracting to the discussion of Star Citizen, perhaps Frontier could set up another Off-Topic category called "UEE Refugees" or something. Then we could all leave this thread and discuss things to our heart's content where it won't bother this very important topic. Might get lonely in here though.**

Edit: Also, that station pic isn't in-game, as asked in the quote you were answering. Nor are the ship commercials in-game. Swing and a miss.

Please do. Do you know any good ones with recent builds?

Well, in the absence of anything other than ongoing regurgitations of the same old material, just take a look at this and pretend he's talking about a spaceship. It should work much the same way as new Star Citizen material.

BTW If you don't know him I really like BohemianEagle's videos. Come across as a nice guy and something chilled out about his rambling talks yet very informative at the same time. I found his channel when I came across his Elite Dangerous playlist which has about 8 videos. In fact I sold my constellation LTI and used the funds to upgrade to the ED premium beta with lifetime pass soon after watching one of them. Thinking back on it I remember at the time it struck me that while ED had a lot of good Word of Mouth, SC just had a lot of PR and WOF (Word of Fanboy).

The station is in game. Also the commercials are made in game too. The Freelancer commercial has several in game shots with ArcCorp the Gold Horizon station and in game WIP planets and ships like the Bengal around. Those assets are mostly from their internal builds. The post processing and some environment effects are added in later in the commercials.

If that station is in-game, SC has the worst starfield ever produced in a video game. Looks like concept art to me or a 3d model placed onto a background. Also, in-engine and in-game are two different things. The adverts are made with in-engine assets, but are not in-game. There is no way to replicate those commercials with what we have or have seen that is in-progress. They are like Eve's promo videos that use game assets but frame them in a way that does not actually replicate gameplay. The ED station video is what you can see looking out the window of your spaceship in-game. It represents the game experience. Anyone with a ship can go replicate that video.

lol at the SC hate.. (I backed both games btw.)

I finally played some of the newest AC today (havent had much time playing the last few weeks):

nice changes in the overall polishing department. Flying feels a bit more easy / intuituve.

Capture the core is a nice mode - you have to catch the enemy core and fly to your own gate to deliver it.

Hornets feel sturdy now. Its nice to play as a defender in a hornet.

Group tactics are working, one guy attracting the player and trick him into following another one kills him from behind.

just shows how important it is to switch targets!

--

overall SC is on the right way! and it feels deep.

whats need fixing are the long loading times and the non-fluid way of going into games. It feels like I am waiting 50% of my play time for loading here loading there etc.. but well its an alpha.. i can live with that.
