Game is doomed.

What else would you expect said by someone employed by the company to manage the community of the company...

He's not going to say:

"Yes it's amazing, it's all gone well. This has been the best year for us in general due to the money we've made from Jurassic World and the fact that we have such a monopoly on the space game genre that we've been able to park Elite in maintenance mode under the pretense of "a year of focusing on core gameplay updates". All the while keeping the embers burning away with minor updates and marketing hype so that we can resume development in 2019 as if nothing had happened."

Yeah.. all this brand new and rework development is clearly an indication of maintenance mode.

Hehe, yeah. I love how the same handful of clowns hang around, angrily insisting everything is terrible, the game is in 'maintenance mode' etc. I particularly loved their "they have this monopoly on the genre with their stupid game!" [haha]

"They arent communicating!"
"I dont like what they communicate!"
"I like what they communicate, so I dont believe them!"

Honestly, if spacelegs/atmos come, they will look at it and claim it doesnt exist. [haha]

Well, to be fair, this is first time FD hinting directly about ED 'life' *after* Beyond, so it is great news all around. It might even be enough for now.

Sounds like no Frontier Expo this year though which makes sense, as it is expensive event. Make bigger Elite Meet and it will be fine.

There will be, unless David Braben is attending one all by himself. See first answer in this link https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...y-livestream?p=6820068&viewfull=1#post6820068

"Yes, it is amazing, it's gone well. This has been its best year both in terms of players, and also in terms of how well it's doing for us, because these things aren't about money but we can spend more on development. There are a lot of dedicated people that just making it better and better, and we've got some exciting things to come - not just talking Beyond. We're in a really good place to be." - Ed

So yeah the game is dead/doomed.

Great Scott!

Do you still spend most of your time traveling from one system to another? Y/n

If Y: do you still spend most of that time watching non-interactive loading screens? Y/N

If Y: then I wouldn't hold your breath on this game not being stuck in the same crap state it was in when it was first released.

rumours of ED's demise greatly exaggerated again. With the 3.1 drop, ED is back at #68 on Steamcharts, off a monthly low of 150 or so.

Yes, before steamspy started requiring membership to see its stats about two months ago, it was shown there that ED had an average of 60k to 100k separate logins per two weeks. In comparison with games in the roughly same space genre:

Last two weeks: active players/2weeks average: 3-23-18

"Elite Dangerous", 107k
"Eve: Online", 48k
"Star Trek: Online", 32k
"No Man's Sky", 28k
"Star Conflict: Journey", 21k
"Fractured Space", 19k
"Rebel Galaxy", 16k
"Starpoint Gemini: Warlords", 8k
"Hellion", 6k
"Endless Sky", 5k
"Starmade", 3k
"Everspace", 2k
"X3: Reunion", 2k
"X: Rebirth VR", 1.7k
"Starpoint Gemini 2", 1.5k
"Galaxy on Fire 2:, 1.5k
"Universe Sandbox", 1.5k
"House of the Dying Sun", 1k

Last 30 days, peak players: 3-25-18

"Elite Dangerous", 14.4k
"Space Wars: Interstellar Empires",14k (early access)
"Eve: Online", 4.2k
"Star Trek: Online", 2k
"No Man's Sky", 1.2k
"Star Conflict: Journey", 0.8k
"Rebel Galaxy", 0.8k
"Starpoint Gemini: Warlords", 0.8k
"Hellion", 0.4k
"Universe Sandbox", 0.4k
"X: Rebirth VR", 0.3k
"Fractured Space", 0.3k
"Endless Sky", 0.2k
"Everspace", 0.2k
"Starmade", 0.1k
"Starpoint Gemini 2", 0.1k
"X3: Reunion", 0.04k
"Galaxy on Fire 2:, 0.02k
"House of the Dying Sun", 0.01k

EVE online has way more than 100k unique logins everyday. There's literally 40k users logged on the regular client everyday. Elite isn't even listed in the top 50 games on steam anymore and stats shows a massive decline in active players since 2017 and the reviews are at their lowest since the release of Horizon. I wouldn't call that an healthy state.

Quite the opposite the game has fewer players than ever. The game is dead, no not yet, but it's in decline.

Yeah for 2 weeks like every patch. People check the new ships and update for 10 minutes then leave.

Yeah, post Horizons 2.0 release I've grown from giving almost fanboyish support of E: D to adding a ton of salt to everything Braben is "excited" and "things being great" statements. In fact, he kinda starts sounding like a broken record, all the while we see nothing which would equal the significance of 2.0 reveal. Check for yourself, he is always repeating vague statements of unspecified things which will be great and they can't wait if we find them etc. etc. I also see repeated statements on the forum like "it's basic now, but just you wait till [insert next major update number here] drop". And I've adopted "seeing is believing".

As for steamcharts, see you in two-three weeks after everyone buys the krait and engineers it?

Waiting for the paid DLC, wonder what it will be. If it's good, I will buy it. If it's don't I won't. Just please note this time how they are talking about Q4 and compare it afterwards, when it hits.
