Where is the paid 'content' LEP holder get for 'free'

You would think adding most of those things would be easy after making that Jurassic game... Do they not have enough funding dedicated to elite to 'copy, paste, fix here and there' already made content anymore?

Elite has brought in massive amounts of revenue for FD but much of it has been spent on roller coasters and dinosaurs instead of Elite. That is the fundamental problem and I noticed this nearly 2 years ago after thoroughly reading FD's Annual Reports and financial information. My original thread for that is located here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...lion-USD-that-players-have-paid-for-it-so-far At the time I started that thread in 2016 the total revenue that Elite had generated for FD was estimated at $60 million USD, now it's at least $100 million USD (based on very conservative estimates) and most likely even higher than this.

Yep. For the hundreds/thousands of different planet combinations (gravity, temperature, pressure, events, weather, composition, etc, etc) and their unique effects on flightmodel & surface-content gameplay I assume it would take quite some time:

Yep. And FDev will announce the 2018 Premium Content at Gamescom, and 2019's Elite roadmap at Expo.

In which case, I suppose they've got more than enough money to provide refunds for every LEP owner, since it appears that the LEP will never be worth its asking price. I'd stretch to call it a con, but it's fairly close.

Keep Calm. Content will arrive Soon(TM). Will be very exciting(RM) and unfolding(TM)

Besides of irony, that game is the best entertaiment investition in my life. I played over 2500 hours for that price (Kick+LEP+Beta). Surely better than marriage, much safer.

I suppose it's a good thing that Planet Coaster (£7.5m costs, 1m+ copies sold) greatly surpassed its development costs, and Jurassic World Evolution looks set to easily do the same (£10m+ costs). Funding "taken" from Elite, and "returned" to Elite through its 100-strong team and continued development.

Massive amounts of revenue is very generous claim. FD income is comparingly ok for size of it's company. As for income FD can do with that money as they see fit. It is a bit sorry that someone needs to be explained that it is just how business are run and they don't owe you anything. Smart companies invest in many products to spread load and make more money in return.

You are deducing it from what exactly?

Also LEP refunds are invalid the moment player runs Horizons for longer than 2 hours.

Stuart, you should stop making sense, I am running out of rep I can give to you :)

Meanwhile, we'll find out what's on the cards for 2018's Premium Content (free for Lifetime Expansion Pass holders) at Gamescom in 7 weeks.

Can you link where FDEV has confirmed news about Premium Content / LEP in Gamescom this year? Or is it just your guess?

It's just speculation, though far more educated than most in this thread.

I think it goes something along the lines of:
  • FDev promised multiple gameplay/content expansions for my Lifetime Pass!
  • They did, and the next expansion is in development.
  • But I want to know what it is!
  • As it's coming end of 2018 at latest, they'll announce it at Gamescom 2018 in 7 weeks.
  • But they're spending all their money on other games
  • They aren't, and as a bonus those games bring large profits back.
  • But I want new content in Elite
  • Two more Beyond updates are coming this year, read the roadmap details.

We have rights to refund if we don't like FD game (granted time limits). That wasn't true 5 years ago.

However if someone wants to refund in case he took calculated risk - which basically buying LEP was - well, it is not about rights anymore. It is about wanting to have a cake and eat it too.

Just for my info (not trying to challenge) where is the data about PC and JWE dev costs? Annual reports or some of the stock exchange releases?

FD never, ever promised anything besides delivering what was promised during KS campaign. They never, ever promised anything besides release date of ED 1.0. Seriously, there's is zero reason to be salty. Yes, everybody wanted stuff to come sooner. It turns out it is not so easy. Wow, figure that, that's life.

You're being selective about facts again.

Original newsletter about Seasons when Horizons pre-orders were touted.

With dates.

We've done this how many times now?

No, because FDev have never publicly stated what new announcements will be revealed at an upcoming Gamescom, ever. All they ever state is "news to come, soon".

Or is it just your guess?
This Gamescom is no different. We know they'll discuss bits of 3.2 (arriving 1 to 2 months later) and 3.3, and as the Content is coming this year (FDev haven't retracted that) they will use Gamescom to hype it.

Last year's "roadmap news will come at a special event later this year" (i.e. Beyond roadmap at FDevExpo) received a ton of flak for being an announcement of an announcement. FDev appear to have learned from that.

Yep, that's right, take the most extreme example you can find. It's not like FD could limit the first implementation to +-20% of earth's: Gravity, atmo pressure, temperature, or radius. /s

Linking your own post for 'evidence' is not only invalid, but it's poor form too. Come back when you have actual evidence. Oh, wait, you can't... Because it doesn't exist yet... Which is the whole point of this thread...
