FDev, come on already! Beyond a joke. Anyone else seeing this?

Old glitches are rearing their ugly heads again and this is becoming a typical trend with updates to be game.

I just agreed to a duel with someone in Supercruise, who asked me to drop, then he couldn't fix on me because the low wake showed "Need scan". I'm seeing this myself quite frequently and it's a glitch that has remained for years. So we try that again, only this time he drops in, me being entirely oblivious since there was no indication visually on radar, or through any line of sight, no audio clues except my ship reporting I was under attack and my Hull dropping from phased plasma impacts. No visual clues still even with the external camera. So another fine example of one player seeing you but you can't see them, cross instancing style.

Seen this a lot, with allies shooting at invisible ships where I can see my ally but they are oblivious to me being present and watching them. Absolute joke. To top it all up, I jump into supercruise into what seems to be an empty instance. I'm drifting alone through space and I receive a message from the player that I was interdicted by him and he kept dropping into an empty instance. From my perspective, zero interdiction alert, no visual representation or even the slightest clue I was being interdicted because from my screen none of it was happening. Was he interdicting a duplicate of my ship? A ghost ship in a different instance?! Remember the ghost ships floating around outside stations before when people were docked?

FD, I have been spending a fortune and a lot of time on this game. Please, I would ask that you start to actually test your game properly prior to updates and that you double time it with fixing old glitches that break the game in my opinion. You charge for cosmetics and since there are none really awarded through in game activities, I'd ask that you honour the money you make from this game by at least testing the product properly, because I really cannot remember an update being released that suggests that you do, because they are always buggy, or worse, they reintroduce old bugs.

Sorry, just a little frustrated today with the instancing glitches. It's about time instancing was made properly stable.

Found it. Lol

Yeah 100%, its now time for dedicaed servers and an end to this P2P architecture.

It's really not conducive to having an online game, if noone can actually enjoy the online aspects without being railroaded by the game essentially trolling players.

I won't add to the list here, but you guys REALLY need to step up your game with these connection issues.

Also. First.

I used to play with a friend but we gave up trying to wing with each other.

9/10 it didn't work, nav lock is broken, instancing is apparently random whether you end up in the same instance and can actually see each other etc...

We now both play solo and chat on discord if we want to hook up

I'm surprised PvP happens at all in this game.

Today in wing in open.
Kill conda and its SLF explodes.
My shields are getting hit by something but nothing is red on radar.
I ask my wing m8 whats shooting me ?
He says " The SLF from that conda".
Im like " Dude I saw it explode"
Hes like "Not on my screen dude"
Im like "WTH"
Hes like "WTH"
He blows it up.
END of cool story bro !

feel you guys. but i honestly doubt this is ever fixed, better get used to it.

Thats the sad truth of it really.

For the tiny expense of dedicated servers they could actually make their game feel populated and played, not to mention encourage player interaction.

Such a waste of potential that they have'nt even SLIGHTLY considered it since release.

Welcome to the magical world of Blaze Your Own Trail, aka Peer-To-Peer MP shoehorned into an originally Single-Player Game. If you take a moment to look at the Bug Reports forum, it's filled with issues that just won't get any attention, half of the time because QA either don't understand the issue, or get lip-service from developers who seem to be too busy basking to test their own code, hence "working as intended unless proven otherwise". The burden of proof needed to be delivered recently has become laughable.

Your issue is unlikely to be fixed, because it's hard to go back on poorly thought-out architectural decisions. It's more a case of Frustrating Developments rather than Frontier Developments.

Multiplayer in this game is pathetic.

And not only the tecnical issues, but also the gameplay is a joke.
4 years to implement coop missions that are the same exact missions with a bigger number.

Ahh - the purest joy of multiplayer Elite on an enterprise-grade LAN.

Some random with a connection that a ZX Spectrum would laugh at - I don’t need them in my game :)

Oh how i now have more beef.

FDev you are outright taking the mickey now. A whole RES site of wanted ships, EVERY SINGLE ONE GIVES ME A BOUNTY.

STOP ARROGANTY ASSUMING WE WILL JUST PUT UP WITH IT.

Seriously annoying.

What about Multicrew.

That's is the biggest joke FD ever played on it's community.

I'm still shocked it wasn't released on th first of April. :)

Lol, well put.

Also. "Im not afraid to speak my mind, some people think i troll, but i tell the truth." < This right here. We need more of that and less agenda based opinionating.

Since you appear to be 'in the know' what would the tiny expense of dedicated servers be?
I'm assuming you must actually know seeing as how assured you seem of your own opinion, oh and does that include the dev time to rewrite any code?
Just wondering because (snark aside) I agree that the networking shinanagins can be very fustrating, however I'm not so sure that it is as simple (and cheap) to fix as you are but please prove me wrong.

Yeah reel it in fella, best not to antagonise those already frustrated yeah.

No i can't give you an exact number, but i am more than aware there are Dev companies very much smaller than FDev who managed to maintain and run dedicated servers for a long time.

Man, i think even runescape had dedicated servers.

If you honestly think they don't make enough money of ED to afford to implement them, then you are a fool. They make thousands of pounds of our muggish.

It would be nice to see some of that returned to the playerbase in the form of a stable connection to an online game. You know. Something thats kind of mandatory for an online game to be playable.

EDIT: After 9 , yep, you read that right NINE bluescreens this session my patience is at an all time low for this rubbish.

This is actually well taking the P now.

I'm not trying to be antagonistic, but do you fully understand how the connections work? UDP forms the basis of how players interact. Sometimes it simply goes missing. You can't use TCP as then you'd simply end up with a slideshow.

ED should be placed into a more dedicated server oriented mesh architecture. From descriptions of the recent job listings on the frontier site it seems they are possibly looking into this. Hope it happens.

re: OP, while sympathizing with your connection and instancing problems, The Beyond updates are far from a joke.

I'm sure if we made the game open only, all these issues would magically disappear and everyone would see everyone else just fine.

( /s <--- Because some folks don't get it )
