That's some criticism I can agree with. I also think some unlock requirements are ridiculous.

It makes sense in order to unlock grade 5, but after that, it feels like a senseless and unnecessary time sink. I do hope Frontier consider changing it.

And yeah I agree, some of the unlocks are frustrating to say the least. Especially the rare commodity ones...

Put the time on half year or year, you can see decreasing playerbase in this game after thargoids got released.

Either frontier wakes up, or this game is going to die sooner than they expected.

I'm no fanboi, but I suspect the reason the comments on this trailer were particularly awful was mainly because it was a particularly awful trailer.

Sorry I dont think this is the comprehensive summer steam charts doom thread, For it to be that it requires more than one cropped graph from the op plus it requires hyperbole and mention of SC/NMS/Tetris to further qualify.

I'd say this is more of the twice weekly doom thread we forum denizens have come to love.

The Forums are more fun than the game, didn't you know that?

To be fair, in those diaries he shared his vision for the game. And last time I checked Frontier is still working on Elite Dangerous and they have no plans to stop. People act like because, for example, things like atmospherics and space legs aren't here right now and weren't added 2 years in, that David lied and Elite is a failure.

Go and look at Star Citizen and you'll see what a monumental task both of those features are. David was clear from the start that things would take time, a long time.

However, I do feel as though we need some more transparency. Like they should share some tidbits of what they're doing behind the scenes to prove that they are working towards these said goals. I believe they are, but it would be nice to hear/see progress.

dont worry mate, i very well know that forums are filled with these kind of people, the people that are actually unhappy and dont care if the game is going to improve or not a re already gone, as we can see in declining playerbase especially lately

all i did was made a thread while stating my concern about the game, wanting it to get better and wondering how others feel about it
all i have so far recieved mostly is that i am immature, people been calling me autistic indirectly, telling me that im some kind of teen and i dont really know what anymore, that really just proves Their maturity and their biased thinking

and yes i knew ill get these responses, but im blunt and never cared about what some guy in basement will tell me what i am for stating out my opinion about state of the game

im actually 24 year old, i studied engineering and im working for company building machines, so yeah, im very much a child and have no clue what im talking about

Yes. You really contributed something new to the discussion and your concerns are very well founded and mature. I see you put a lot of mature thought into your phrasing and it is obvious you are a very insightful and caring person that would never live in a basement. And since there is not a single other active thread on this forum taking note of how badly Elite is failing to deliver content that anybody can enjoy it's a good thing you spoke up about it. You're helping and contributing in ways a deluded person who can't face up to the fact his/her 20€ was wasted on vaporware and dearly holds on to the obvious sunk cost fallacy. Sorry if I said anything negative about your mature insights in my ignorance. I'm just a white knight fanboy screeching in the dark. Woe is me.

I never watched any of the dev diaries, I just bought the game they made which I really enjoy. It helps not having any four year old theorycrafting imaginary game sulk baggage to drag around I find. Realistic expectations, and all that.

On the honesty front I'd compare him with the obviously desperate DOOM predictions that have fallen flat on their faces every week since 2014. If he lied prolifically like that then I'd probably be mocking him too, but since he doesn't I won't.

There is a content issue (new content). But a lot of us are aware of what we were told back in the Kickstarter and before release days. These massive features we all want are going to take a long time and I sincerely hope (and do believe) that Frontier has been working on them for the past four years.

For me, Frontier by the end of this year has to announce some pretty major content additions to Elite that are inbound and actually show them off. If they don't reveal anything, then I'll start losing faith in this game and it's future because I'll be very concerned that they actually don't have anything.


However, from Frontiers and Davids comments, there's content coming, we just need to wait a few more weeks/months to find out about it. Beyond isn't finished yet and we've known since last year what this series of updates was going to entail.

It just amazes me that people think he was lying when in reality 4 years for a game of this scope isn't all that long (look at Cyberpunk 2077 six years in development and it's in Alpha with years away from release as said by the devs this year. Also Star Citizen. Infinity Battlescape, and many more).

Yeah it's hard to come here with any kind of critique or negative point about the game as you simply get personal attacks as a response. Because there's likely no real response for them to give so they resort to going personal. Typical of many game forums these days I guess - this one having some of the fiercest supporters / attackers.

Like you I assume, I really enjoyed the game once upon a time ago. And paid and expected to get what was promised. But that was never delivered (or delivered half-baked) so I became disappointed. Reason is simply FDev went off to work on other titles leaving this game unfinished, and has made very little effort to actually finish it. That is what has happened to Elite and it's understandable from a business perspective: they chased new revenue after this game title brought in the big chunk of revenue that it could. So it's understandable why many other people are unhappy as you point out at the start of this thread. Another thread with NMS as a topic was also trying to highlight the fact people are disappointed and that the game could have been much more if the dev's had really wanted it to be better, and I totally agree, had FDev really cared to invest. But they didn't and 'it is what it is' and likely never going to change much beyond what is available today. Best we can do as customers is tell them how we feel about their product.

Dying? Yes. Ever since release actually. Horizons gave it a bump but that was it. But dying is part of the life cycle for any game. Fanbase here would like you to believe that this game though is somehow very special unique and will forever grow and never die. Have to assume they're applying their well developed game imagination skills to their reality now! Sad.

Its usually a case of

Braben stated offline mode, Braben stated expansion are free, Braben stated that Interstellar Travel should'nt be boring to player, Brabden stated you could hide in a hold of a ship, Braben stated (after selling seasons) who said a season is in 1 year, Braben stated winter's coming. Braben stated: don't worry you'll get atmo and space legs.

One lead designer, questioned by a memebr of this forum about space legs, stated: "If we arrive there, If weìll do it, it's something we would like but it is an huge work" no more than 1 years ago.

Oh, by the way: Braben stated that Ed will be on foot till 2021.

Now believe Braben if you want…
