The moanatrons.. there are so many of them. They play the game for hundreds of hours and then complain. The worse is the ones who comment on YouTube on particular channels.

All games have a lifetime. If you overplay them you will get bored. Then move on.

Problem is that someone here has promised something which hasn't delivered.

It's normal get angry when someone gamble you…

The game plays like I expected it. Elite plus. Elite with a lot more added than the previous games had.

I don't think they have gambled anyone

That should be Elite Double-plus, since we already got Elite Plus in 1991.

Joking and pedantry aside, I agree: I was afraid we would get another game on which they slapped the name Elite, so I am very happy that the game we got indeed IS Elite IV.

Its not boting, the game released bare bones and they took 4 years to develop 2 basic core activities, the otrhers are still bare bones.
Yes, they thought exploration was ok otherwise they would improve it the first year instead of creating CQC or Powerplay.

Its not a "boring point", it is important. I've said this many times, the game needed an overhaul, the activities in Elite are very shallow and boring.
I've started in early 2016 a thread about the lack of interactions in the gameplay, lack of mechanics and simplicity and the thread was locked after several pages because "it was a boring thread". The fault the game is in this crappy state is all because of the complacent community.
In this 4 years we didn't have any overhaul in the placeholder activities, we only got tiny tiny features. They had 4 years to make basic gameplay interactive and fun buyt ALL the gameplay is about shoot things, point and wait, or hold a button.
If they don't do a really good job with mining and exploration then I'm done with Elite.

It seems like you didn't get my post at all.

Disappointment with elite dangerous is generally increasing.
Comment sections on trailers are getting more and more negative and toxic. (check new trailer comment section)
People dont expect anything great anymore from Fdevs.

If they haden't diverted nearly all their resources elsewhere and remained dedicated towards improving missions, balance, and all the bugs and issues they created, maybe their graph would look a little more like this https://steamcharts.com/app/230410#All

This is the difference between a game with 20 note weekly updates and 20 note quarterly updates.

Been watching these threads cause I think its funny. I see them on reddit too.

Have you guys ever played games with expansions in them? Like World of Warcraft?

During the end of each expansion people end up taking a break because they finished all the content thats available. I cant tell you how many times I've seen places like Dalaran or Orgrimmar go empty.

Anyways, when Elite has micro updates like this. We will see a huge burst of people come back. Just wait until the 28th when the guardian stuff comes out. Twitch and Steam will be booming again. It happens all the time.

Games far from dead dudes. Low spots could be better though.

Or if some of them juicy powerplay changes go through. Oh baby.

Warframe is fantastic, and a great example of a devteam solely focussed on a single IP. The documentary of how the game arose courtesy of NoClip is a great watch

This happens in all game forums no matter what the game, for a simple arithmetical reason. Every game has a turnover of players: people typically buy a game, play it for weeks, months or years, then move on to another game. Most of the people who move on don't ever contribute to the forum again but there's a minority who continue posting. Their posts are of course generally negative; the game is no longer one they enjoy. Simple arithmetic then means that new, keen players gradually get outnumbered by discontented people. Every game forum becomes more and more toxic over time because of this.

The rising discontent therefore indicates nothing about how good or bad the game actually is.

Angry ex boyfriends. Can't move on, furious about past rows, obsess about what she's up to and hostile to anyone she's still friendly with.

Offline mode it's lie from Braben. Period. You like it or not.

This is the first time I'll discuss with you so I'll give the benefit of doubt.

Moving to new office has nothing to do with development, because at that time they were working on Dinosaur an an expansion of planet coaster if I remember right.

Ed has been completely abandoned to itself: compare the number of expansions we have had in 2015 (from 1.0 to 1.8) to 2.0 and what happened in the next 3 years.

Don't state the number of the add-on released (i.e.3.1 or 3.2 and so on): compare what they promised and how they cut (multicrew it wasn't that tu*d that it is now : they cut a lot of feature because they hadn't time which was spent on different project).

Compare even 3.1 and 3.2: what we get? 2 new ships (nice) and a revisitation of a what should be done right times ago (and they didn't).

Hell: in 2015 we passed from 16 ships to almost 31! And in the meanwhile they were working on planet, srv and so on. When they were working on Elite they shows us what they were doing.

And note: they did incredible things

But they stopped to work on Elite.

Don't answer me: compare by yourself and then go on: if you think Elite is well developed than stick with it.

Space legs and 2021.

They have announced that they'll work on Elite till 2021. If you see what they did till now you'll clearly can draw a conclsuion: no space legs will come out before 2021 or atmo planet.

True: that doesn't mean that they'll never work after such time on Ed. but unfortunatly it doesn't means neither that they'll work on it.

Considering that the only expansion which regular appears are the one in the shop (hence: elite as a cash cow) and again you can spot a pattern here and drawn your conclusion.

I'm not getting into the debate about lies any further as we clearly both have separate opinions on the matter and neither of us will win the argument in either's eyes.

However, I can understand where you're coming from in regards to slow development (I can't find anything about Frontier saying they would only work on Elite till 2021?). I think a big problem is how silent Frontier is, they don't share any information and it does have people questioning what's going on behind closed doors.

Like I said, my concerns will only be raised if there's nothing substantial announced by the end of this year (I say that because Beyond is still ongoing and they still have a lot to talk about regarding Q4). I truly believe Frontier has been working on a lot behind the scenes. If I'm proven wrong and they haven't been, well....I'll be severely disappointed. And I don't think I'll be alone in that.

And Cyberpunk 2077 (or any other AAA game developed behind closed doors) doesn't have to worry about:

a) releasing a playable relatively bug free game at any point in 6 years of development before it goes gold.

b) releasing content in an order that not only makes best development sense but also keeps those playing it happy.

Two very fair points and you are absolutely correct in making them.

However, my point was in regards, mainly, to space legs and the monumental task that it obviously is. People claiming Elite has failed and Braben has lied because they're not here yet and we've still no word on them. When I don't think they quite grasp the vastness of the task and how long things take to develop. It's why I used the long development of Cyberpunk 2077 as an example because let's face it, Space Legs (if implemented properly) will make Elite a vastly different game (and almost a different game in itself), so it's understandable that they'll take years to develop.

It isn't a case of over playing by me; it is a case of under delivering by FDEV. I don't see how blowing smoke up their bottom is beneficial?

If I didn't have VR I'd have got bored senseless about a year after Horizons. I'm moaning because I have absolutely no idea what the LEP is going to deliver for me this year and because pretty much every release is an overwhelming disappointment.

the next FREE expansion (I already paid for) is still a mystery.... apart from the bleeding obvious; The Thargoids are running from the Guardians because they are the real threat. Delight in being attacked by a new enemy in a USS if you can be bothered to drop out in one. YAWN!!!!

Finally a genuine doom thread with steam stats.

Edit: It should be added to every thread like this that the stats on steam dont take into account PS4/Xbox one and non steam users.

I'm console and whatever u go through we go through x2 because we can't integrate 3rd party support options...but I got 4 more months in me for this before it gets removed from hard drive...voted no confidence in devs to come correct...for shame really. Money lost and a keen eye against frontier for future projects unless vetted? Well earned consumer dissatisfaction!
