News Beyond - Chapter Three Launch Announcement

Most ships are ultimately pretty capable at combat, even the T9. However, it's typical of Frontier to introduce new ships that have had their design specs at least slightly nudged to be competitive at any new mechanic. PP, Horizons, multicrew, Thargoids, etc, each of these arrived with a new ship that was especially suited to the tasks involved. That's not to say they always got the mark, nor that other ships were bad by comparison, far from it, but merely that the single task was something that the new ship would be suited to doing, at least by certain metrics.

Sure, but I'm expecting the Phantom to have a bunch of locked military slots like all dedicated combat ships, thereby severely limiting it's usefulness for anything other than combat.

I'd of course love to be wrong and instead see a lightweight Krait variant with an Anaconda jump range. The ship's hull design would be beautiful for a dedicated exploration ship. I just don't feel that Frontier is interested in introducing new ships like that, they much prefer combat vessels.

While you are certainly entitled to your own opinion and entitled to call out people abusing you, it goes much better if you don't resort to the same thing in very next sentence.

Sorry you feel abused and hard done by and I also certainly hope quarter 4 does live up to all our expectation, but if you decide to leave I hope you find a good game to spend your time on.

Fly safe cmdr.

I'm sorry, Varonica, but what, exactly, do you qualify as "more fun"? I'm SO tired of people WHINING about the game not being "fun", when I'm absolutely certain they don't really comprehend the game in the first place. If you are looking for endless, MINDLESS pew-pew, then you miss the point and this game isn't for you. I'm willing to bet you pretty much find LIFE boring. Elite Dangerous is a virtual LIFE. A virtual life set in the distant future. And, like real life, you have a career, you acquire wealth, maybe even a little job satisfaction along the way...and then you DIE. That's LIFE. Have you ever heard of the avatar-based social network called SecondLif? There are some similarities between ED and SL.

As for me, I find this game "fun" because it really is more like a futuristic life, with its good times, its bad times, hours of boredom punctuated with minutes of sheer, adrenaline-pumping chaos. And the great thing is that I can choose to optimize my efforts so that I have more or less of each. Are there things I'd like to see improved? Sure. Most of it is aesthetic, very little of it has anything to do with game mechanics.

Can you point me to the post where FDev explicitly said they would not make "core game improvements and fixes" in chapter 2 & 3? I can't find that and it should help clarify things for everyone and set expectations right.

Look up the FDev expo where they said what would come in the Q2 and 3 updates. They were always billed as minor narrative updates and that is exactly what we are getting. I do not understand why anyone would expect more.

Hehe is the Exp recap for those that seem to have very short memories:

Well, I'm done with this whole Beyond debacle and the glorious White Knightery here.
When you share your opinion and it's not according the choosen few here you're either a whiner or a liar, so much for personal respect.
You guys just keep sticking your head in Fdev's place where the sun don't shine.
Like quite a few others here I hope Q4 will fix ED in a more fun game to play, if not then I won't be playing much anymore if at all.

I hope you get a lot of fun out of the new combat toys when 3.2 lands tomorow.

Nothing to do white knightery, but honesty, if you ignore your error and continue to beat the same drum, then you are being dishonest. Pure and simple.

And people having theirs head stuck up FDevs behind. I think you really need to comprehend what people have said. All they have done is point out your error. Like me and others we also point out what FDev have done wrong. All I and others do is point out bull when we see it. Not our problem or fault when the facts point out that you are wrong. Just accept it and move on instead of trying to argue against the facts. It makes you look foolish.

Just got the message in-game that the servers are going down in 2 hours for an estimated 7 hour downtime.

So 09:00 BST or 08:00 Game Time (UTC).

Hype begins!

Define "most of the day" please. That term is usually used in a hyperbolic sense for an inconsequential time. And here that further is tapered by the amount of the process that would actually occur while you were playing. So what actual timeframe are we talking here.

I'd like to know what you're losing that you consider worth complaint about introducing content you don't prefer. A standard to place against the enjoyment those who do look forward to this content if you will.

Sigh. It must be nice to experience getting content in ED, can't wait to know how that feels. :)

Both 2.4 and 3.0 updates were down for well over nine hours. Or most of the day ... when I could be playing.

I guess we'll see when it comes out. I do know that explorers have been begging for a new exploration-specialist ship for ages, and I also seem to recall that they're talking about adding role-specific module slots in order to help make room for the new module types incoming. Fingers crossed :)

and...? 9 hours? Are you really complaining about that? lol

I heard that it will be down for 6 hours. Damn what do I play? I have the day off work and I haven't played a single other game in over two months. Perhaps I can watch the Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay video seven and a half times?

Thought file transfer was fast these days, does'nt take 7 hours to copy files over to main server and if the delays are down to tests, should'nt these have been done before the update.

i watched it and loved every second. i cant wait till it releases.

We are currently experiencing a solar storm since Saturday which isn't good for our electronics.

And as a more serious reply: Looks like you don't have much insight on all the necessary tasks. "Switching the power button back on should only take one second" isn't a great estimation.

Hi!

Good to see the game progressing, hope to play it to it's full potencial.

I would like to have the gimabaled version of large multy cannon, small guardian plasma launcher, and shard cannon.
I think the apsence of the gimbaled varsion of some of the new weapons is like a slap to the face of those who don't care about multy crew, and prefer gimbaled weapons over fixed an turreted.

On the matter of multycrew.

I am flying small ships, for now, so, i am not sure about this, but, there is an option to hire an npc and give it the gunner's spot in ur ship, right?

Sould try it out on a multycrew capable ship first, before complaining about it, but if, the only way to use an npc is by giving it the fighter's pilot spot in my ship, is like discrimitating solo players of the game.
Same logic applyes to any other bennefits player controled multycrew ships have, and solo players don't.

I would very much enjoy using manually any turreted weapon i may have fit to my ship, while an npc would fly the ship, and the npc getting better on aiming as it progresses threw the combat ranks, a lot like npc fighter pilots do.

And, i hope i wont waste too much of any one's time with this, but.

I honestly think the "engine boost" thing, needs to b revisited.
Specially the dragging back down to not boosted speed thing.
If i may suggest, replacing engine boost with a multy purpose function, making the ship do different things, depending on the position of the throttle, and wether or not, the bound key/button was pressed, or double tabed.

If, for example the ship flyes at top speed, and that button is pressed or, double tabbed it sould have no effect at all.
If, the ship flyes at top speed, the throttle set to zero thrust, and that button is pressed, the ship would overload forwards thrusters, using power from the distributor to slow down to full stop, twice as fast as it would, by only setting throttle to zero thrust, and generate heat on the mean while.
If, the same button was double tabed, the ship would rappidelly use the same ammount of power from the distributor as it would if the button was pressed, and generate the same heat, but all in the same time span the "engine boost" thing we have now, takes to complete it's circle, untill the ship comes to a full stop, or the distributor is depleted, causing the ship to pottencially over heat.

same logic sould b applyed to latteral and vertical thrusters.

Hope to se improofment done soon.

Contact me if, u would like me to give u more details about my idea over how to fix "engine boost"
