So I'm about five million poorer from prep purchases and module transfers. Thought it'd be worth it for the first thing I've been excited about since before I found out what a grind guardian sites were gonna be. What a disappointing waste.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
If the first thing that happens is that we just wind up one system away from where we started then yeah.... that's a *bit* anti-climactic, at least for a first leg of this journey. (And I hope the entire trip is still going to happen).

At any rate, that sucks that the story was revealed prior to the actual event.

Yeah that's a massive disappointment even if the trip is still on, what a terrible way to spoil everything.

Someone is going going to get yelled at tomorrow morning for sure.

now if this ship had really come under attack while loading up supplies for the trip and Commanders did chase them away that would have been a story people could invest some time in.,.

True, the frosting on the turd was definitely reading about things I didn't do on galnet six hours before I didn't do them.

They actually promoted the Gnosis jump in the newsletter mid-August by the way, in case anybody forgot, including a link to the main forum thread about it. That was when it was still supposed to be an exploration trip behind a permit lock. It's genuinely remarkable stuff this.

A firing would be taking things to far, i'm sure we can all agree on that.

Agreed, especially considering that the people who make decisions on who to fire tend to be the same ones who made the decisions that led to the problems in the first place. Throwing someone under the bus doesn't fix the bus.

I’d feel really silly if I had fallen for this but decided to ignore it.

just open source it to the community

Please? Like... super duper pretty please!

The open source community would love this. No more silly bugs that are passed off as "features," and we might even see some official Linux support!

Its obvious that Frontier does not care about the game, why not hand it off to the community that does?

Ninja edit:

If we did this someone might even set up a basic QA process. All positives!

Agreed. I hope the rest of the journey will take place. Maybe even yet to the Cone Sector.

They better have something amazing in these 3 systems to redeem themselves or this event will be known as the worst disappointment since Jacques station.

The is "personal narrative" in a nutshell.

I didn't do a thing and I help defend the Gnosis from a Thargoid battle fleet.

And the Forum mods will ban you if you demand Fdev be held accountable for their actions.

FDEV THIS BETTER BE FAKE NEWS.

There are over 1,500 pilots aboard the Gnosis, and some of them have been waiting as much as a full week just to be prepared. And some of us have poured hours into engineering and griding to get the upgrades and modules we needed for our expedition into the unknown. And some of us have spent hours traveling to the Gnosis, making 30 ly jumps or less on our combat ships, trudging along until we get there, just to spend millions of credits to transfer over modules we need for our trip.

Collectively we have invested thousands of man-hours and billions of credits into this one trip. Saying that this is a disappointment would be an UNDERSTATEMENT.

This.

Why would anyone go through the trouble of grinding mats or commodities from what, 600 lys away from civilization? Let's see:

"before you have the fun you were expecting it's time to grind because there hasn't been enough of that. But don't worry, there's great content coming sometime in the future. I can't say what it is, or when it will be, or what it will comprise of, but it's coming. Swearsies. We won't pull the rug out from under you. Again."

I agree. If you've already trekked all the way there, might as well wait one more day.

Agreed. I hope the rest of the journey will take place. Maybe even yet to the Cone Sector.

I'm all for optimism...

Although I'll wait with baited breath to see how FDev salvage this. I suspect a bit of space magic handwavium, instigate the inevitable CG's and totally ignore the forum as per usual [yesnod]

Putting on my rose-tinted glasses for a moment, the misjump took (will take) the Gnosis just one system off instead of what happened with the Jacques. Could it be that FDev just wanted to get more people involved, but the news leak spoiled that?

I was wondering about this since the Gnosis runs on a tight schedule, it would have to jump SOON to it's destination or the whole schedule is useless, and it has to be in the right spot for the next jump, so, the whole schedule would be rendered useless. The whole thing would have to be redone.. Feel for the Canonn folks, probably a lot of frustration on their part..
