Putting on my rose-tinted glasses for a moment, the misjump took (will take) the Gnosis just one system off instead of what happened with the Jacques. Could it be that FDev just wanted to get more people involved, but the news leak spoiled that?

No.

some special rose tinted glassss you have there!

Are they lined with crushed happy pills that you are inhailing?

According to Inara, we had 11,000+ people visit the system Gnosis is in. How many more do you want?

You should copy-write that idea Faybs...sell it to FDev as a ready built excuse [yesnod]

First off, if this really is what's going to happen in a couple of hours, I'm incredibly sorry for all the Commanders who spent time and effort engaging with this.

Smells a lot like Distant Worlds with vague promises of Frontier preparing something "special" for it. Absolutely zip zilch nada. That's not to say that DWE wasn't one of the best gaming experiences I've had, but (apart from providing the game) it was nothing to do with the developer and everything to do with the excellent community.

Then at the end there was the developer trying to ride on the popularity and finally prepared some in-game content: Jacques Jump. And we all know how that ended up. For the players who stuck around Beagle Point for an extra month or so while FDev got their stuff together (I was one of them), the end result was a pretty bitter pill to swallow, and I've significantly reduced my ED playtime since then. Real Life undortunately also got involved and had a large part to do with it, but I've been more likely to fire up other games in my spare time instead.

Well, hopefully Q4 will add enough to get me out for DWE2. And I sincerely hope FDev has enough sense to keep their hands away from that community event, OR to actually deliver something unique and exciting.

Hopefully. But this would mean there will have to be further news, and a real jump to follow.

To be honest, this game has been plagued by disappointment - even right back in the Kickstarter when I signed up for "Founding Member of the Elite" (and it wasn't cheap) thinking that that was the thing to have - something really cool - and I guess to a point it had a pretty good perk with Founders access, cheap insurance and a very pretty badge. But there was nothing actually special - ideas went around like FNDR instead of CMDR or a list of the Founding members in the space station somewhere....but it all got forgotten. I still think its been a good remake of the original but that's as far as its seems to have gone. Thanks for the opportunity to whine once again about being a "Founder" and I am genuinely sad about this as I was all ready for something "special" once again.

Some one tell Fdev the rest of the world doesn't go to bed at 12am.

That said... best case scenario I see is a CG, THEN jump to the Cone sector NEXT week, so they can prepare something special for the trip.

That could be a possibility. They saw a huge influx of players, so they decided to delay the trip a week so they could put something special in the cone sector that wasn't there before.

That's my wishful thinking.

Most amusing. Disappointing, of course. I was expecting that part. But this is even worse than I imagined it would be. Ah well, I still have fun stuff to do.

A firing would be taking things to far, i'm sure we can all agree on that.

No, I think multiple are appropriate and have been for a long time. "Do your job and do it well or get replaced" is the standard everywhere else, why not here? The stockholders are not going to be pleased with the gross mismanagement of their franchise, especially when the stock values start crashing.

Nah. This is just major egg on face. A firing offense would have been deleting the accounts of a large number of players, or leaking all our credit card numbers.

OK, nobody has to read this, but in case FD use this thread to tally opinion, here's mine after some reflection.

(1) Expectations for original event low: fun exploring in area with concentrated number of CMDRs.
(2) Original Galnet/locking of sector effectively communicated to me that FD didn't want me in the Cone Sector but would play along somehow. [Edit: with undercurrent of "oops, we meant to have that off-limits."] Knowing game mechanics/assuming FD wouldn't plan something super-special for a select group only, expectations weren't too high.
(3) Think surprise of Gnosis burning after interrupted jump would have satisfied expectations if not for Galnet problem.

Opinion stated.
